We stayed at Hotel Mopelia for a few nights at either end of our stay in El Salvador. It is a friendly, chilled out spot, right by the beach with a great little bar. Very close to the rest of El Tunco and a good base for travelling to the rest of the country. Highly recommend.

The place is 1 minute walk from the beach, has a lovely attended garden full of birds, and a deep swimmingpool. We drank tasteful salvadorian craft beer, which the friendly Belgian owner has on draft. The rooms have a verandah with hammock. No loud music, except from the

Dear Darren, I am so sorry. You are right, the bar closing dates don't appear on our web page. My bad! It does appear on our facebook page though, wich is obviously more about updates and news.... You remind me that my beer serving skills are better than my comunication ones.... We are a small family businness wich means that I am behind the bar every night, and my wife is cooking for the guests. But, once every two years, we go for a little hollyday. Unfortunatly that's when you showed up... Just in case other people are reading this, I would like to clarify that we re-open on august 20, not all the way through october! Take care Darren, safe trips, hopefully with intresting beers on your way... Gil

Mopelia is a great little spot. Gilles (the owner) is a really friendly and insightful guy. The guesthouse is family run, the rooms are good and the food and beer are fantastic. The place attracts a good crowd and there are few great waves directly out the back door. In total -
