Coulsdon Manor is set amidst 140 acres of landscaped Surrey parkland, a large part of it laid down as a challenging 18-hole, providing an oasis of peace and tranquility. Built in the 1850s for Lord Byron and his family, the manor house has been restored to its former glory as well as being sensitively extended. You will now discover a country house flavour reflected in the beautiful woodwork and furnishings, whilst the modern glass atrium lends a light and airy feel. Relax during your stay with a stroll around the grounds with its fine collection of rare trees, take tea on the patio or enjoy a round of golf on the challenging 18 hole course, par 70, stretching over 6073 yards, before sampling the many amenities of the leisure club.

First the good bits, the course is in fine condition considering the traffic it gets. The food in the restaurant was fine as was breakfast. Now for the BAD bits.We were a group of 26 golfers, the Sunday receptionist was a treasure sorting out all the room cockups, at one point 4 or 5 of our group did not have a room for the night, not sure if it was Golf Breaks or the hotels fault but the young lady duly sorted it under duress. The bar was totally understaffed, how can you have a bar with only one draught beer on and then that ran out (NO lager) only a limited range of bottled and can beers, lots of promises of beer on tap but it never materialised. This was my fourth visit here and certainly the last. We all thought the label of Faulty Tower fitted the bill we were waiting for John Cleese to arrive WHAT A SHAME !

Positive- large room, Negative - pretty much everything else Our room (luxury double) was nice and big with a huge bed, large walk it shower and big bath. The down side was it was the temperature of the sun!! Even with all the windows open and the ceiling fan plus 2 extra fans it was sweaty in there. This may have been contributed to by the towel rail in the bathroom that was boiling hot and no way to turn off. Breakfast on the first day there was a poor selection of continental and the waitress said the breakfasts are cooked fresh. The bacon was clearly cooked a long time ago and kept warm as it was rock hard and inedible. The scrambled egg was rubbery and tasteless and came it the shape it was microwaved in. The remaining hot breakfasts was better quality however the waitress decided not to offer us hot drinks and the continental selection continued to be poor. Went down to the bar one evening, hardly any bottles available, the sol they gave us was warm - gave it back and told them to turn the fridge on! The selection of draft beer was all ale and tasted rank!! Cost £8 for a pint and a coke!! We decided to try the restaurant on the first night however the bar staff pointed at a bar menu and when asked if there was a separate restaurant, the guy shrugged and said he doesn’t know!! He then said he’ll go and ask his manager then never came back!! We ended up down the road at the Tudor rose and highly recommend that! Overall would not recommend Cons override the pros of the large clean room The whole hotel needs to be properly managed and quality controlled as there is no way this is a 4 star hotel

What a disappointment! We live locally and decided to try The Coulsdon Manor restaurant. Having booked a table in the restaurant we arrived to find no one to great us or show us to our table. Having sat ourselves it became obvious that the staff, although well meaning, don’t really want to be there and that might have something to do with there not being enough of them. The food isn’t expensive but isn’t great either; Eton Mess is strawberries and cream and pork shoulder strangely has ribs here. It is such a shame as the setting is beautiful and if you want to play golf and have a beer and food in the bar its probably above average but for a nice family me it is below par. Also beware that half of the drink options are actually available.

Stayed here overnight whilst attending a joint birthday party. Young lady on reception was delightful and very welcoming. Room was spotlessly clean and bed comfortable. However, the plug socket below the vanity mirror couldn't accommodate a plug as there was a shelf in the way! The BBQ food was well cooked and presented. Although the function was due to end at midnight, the doors overlooking the golf course were locked and notices taped across them at 11pm due to local neighbours noise complaints....don't know how it's a problem unless they're actually camping out on the golf course itself! This made the function room very warm as the long curtains were pulled over the doors on the opposite side of the room and it was a very warm summer's evening.....A couple of the male bar staff were a little on the surly side and due to a function on the previous evening, quite a few of the drinks were not available. Oh, and the white Sauvignon Blanc (due to the absence of any replenishment of the Pinot Grigio) was horrible. Breakfast was plentiful although empty plates weren't cleared away very quickly.
