What a wonderful romantic setting for a weekend away. A real country retreat. The grounds are stunningly green & tranquil. Our room was relaxing & quiet. The bathroom was new & very modern. Breakfast was cooked to order & we had lots of fruit, cereals, pastries & hams to choose from. Lovely choice of toppings for cereals & waffles too....

We were a little apprehensive having read some previous reviews, but we needn't have worried. We had booked an executive room which was a good size, with relatively new furniture and a good shower room. Breakfast was freshly cooked, with a good choice of continental options too. Before we went out for our evening party elsewhere, we had a drink...

Not a 4* hotel but ok for a night or two. The staff are very good and polite and breakfast is ok. The rooms are a good size but would benefit from firmer beds as the ones in our groups rooms were all very soft and worn. In my room there were lots of small issues like bathroom tap lids...

We have known for some time that Coulsdon Manor has a Breton maestro as its chef but I have to say that my lunch today blew me away. A generous grilled swordfish fillet on ratatouille with spicy coriander salsa, as tender as butter in the mouth, incredibly delicious! I'm afraid that I can't tell you what the rooms are like...

This hotel is in dire need of refurbishment. So much so that I have written to Head Office advising that somebody visits this hotel so they can see how bad it is. Unfortunately, from the minute we walked through the main entrance littered with cigarette butts we did not have a good experience. Room 116 is tired and grubby, the...

Service from the staff (from reception, duty manager, bar and waiting staff) was really excellent. But you cannot help feel sorry for them because they have nothing to work with. This hotel has an air of being run into the ground until they sell the land, probably to build luxary appartments. We were in room 101 with two very worn...

Hotel was great for a evening away, great location and if your into golf a great stay. However me and my partner are not into golf and simply went for the peace and quiet and food which is exactly what we received. The hotel itself was a little dated in the standard double room we had but clean and tidy....

A mixed sort of stay - it felt like a pleasant, though rather tired, 3 star hotel (despite its 4 star rating). The building has character and history (with quite a nice country house vibe), the staff were pleasant, the grounds are attractive. But there are too many frayed carpets, a really thin restaurant menu (though the burger I had...

Stayed here just for one night visiting friends in the area. Got a really good deal (40 quid for one night stay) and had a really unexpected amazing dinner at their restaurant. Hotel is very old fashioned which I loved. I would definitely come back and would recommend it.

One night room only stay. I arrived much earlier than official check-in time but reception managed to get me in my room with only half an hour to wait. Good free wi-fi speed, piping hot bathwater and radiator (I had to turn it down and open the window though) and a great view at the end of the corridor overlooking...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Coulsdon Manor is set amidst 140 acres of landscaped Surrey parkland, a large part of it laid down as a challenging 18-hole, providing an oasis of peace and tranquility. Built in the 1850s for Lord Byron and his family, the manor house has been restored to its former glory as well as being sensitively extended. You will now discover a country house flavour reflected in the beautiful woodwork and furnishings, whilst the modern glass atrium lends a light and airy feel. Relax during your stay with a stroll around the grounds with its fine collection of rare trees, take tea on the patio or enjoy a round of golf on the challenging 18 hole course, par 70, stretching over 6073 yards, before sampling the many amenities of the leisure club. ... more   less
