Isleta El Espino offers a respite from the dusty road and, with only five guest rooms, the quiet serenity of a private island. Birds, monkeys, breezes (and a neighbor's rooster at times) are the soundtrack of El Espino. The lodge features a swimming pool, yoga platform, massage facilities, intimate bar, and dining. El Espino is just minutes away from the historic city of Granada and an array of activities including hiking, boating, horseback riding, dining, shopping, and exploration. El Espino is off-grid with power courtesy of the sun.

I agree with the reviews from Funkysmurfy, Ryan S and Field Shanghai. Beautiful place, relaxing, excellent accommodations, service and food. They only have five cabins (if I remember correctly) so not too many pleople around. There were only 3 guests when I went. I thought the price for the fish dinner was a little high ($27) being that fish are plentiful in the area, but that's my opinion. Warm water in shower as well as the lake. No children allowed unless you occupy all cabins with your family. I think at least one staff member might speak English. It's a small island but that didn't matter to me. Would definitely go again.

...if you have researched this far, you will know the hotel is on a small island on Lago Colcicolba. It is a very small island - an islet - but the photos you have seen do not lie. It is enchanting. The accommodation is comfortable, the food and drink excellent - and reasonably priced given the location - and you are actually very close to Granada so it is viable to use this as a base for exploring the town, whilst enjoying the nature, views and birdlife that you won't find if you stay in town. Also a lot cooler because of the lakeside breeze. Best of all are the staff. Martin and all of the team go out of their way to be helpful, provide good service and to fix anything that may go wrong when you are in such a remote location. And they do it with a sincere smile and grace. I spent 3 nights at El Espino with a friend. We had an excellent time despite the heavy May rains. I would love to go back and enjoy the place more. Highly recommended.

Isleta El Espino is a little slice of paradise. I arrived as a solo traveler and spent two days relaxing on this thoughtfully designed ecolodge. No details are spared to ensure that guests have an incredible experience. They greeted me with a drink that was made of fresh lemongrass from the garden and even surprised me with homemade chocolate, singing, and candles for my birthday later that night. It’s a place you can come to relax, do yoga, kayak, swim, read, and take care of yourself. It rained the duration of my stay but that only added to the charm and ambiance of the island; there was still plenty to do and enjoy. I will come back here again, but next time I’ll be sure to bring my girlfriend and parents.

The private island which rests nestled among 365 other islands is stunningly natural and charming. The design is a mix of ecotourism and boutique Hotel. A majority of the fresh food is grown on the island and prepared to perfection. We enjoyed the huevos rancheros and avocado toast for breakfast, fresh coffee smoothie and local seafood or veggies for dinner. There are free kayaks you can use to explore but also request a private boat tour of the islands at sunset and have Henry tell you about all of the wildlife! The manager Martin is fantastic and will arrange whatever you need for your stay!

I spent 4 days on my own at Isleta El Espino. I wanted to get away from my busy family to work on a book and wanted to be somewhere very beautiful where I'd feel taken care of. El Espino was perfect. As soon as I arrived I upgraded to a little casita because the view was stunning and it had a better working area for me to tuck myself away. I swam in the lake each day, I kayaked, I did yoga, I wrote and I ate great food. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was great. The design is stunning. And... being an eco lodge didnt mean a sacrifice on comfort or power. I've been to a few eco lodges where you feel like every time you charge your phone you are being a bad person.... there was never an issue with power which I thought was incredible for a place that relies 100% on solar energy (with a back up generator when needed).
