Everything about my stay was wonderful, from the rum drinks upon arrival, to my cute bungalow room. The food was always well prepared and plentiful. Chicken and pork everyday, with some days having fresh fish or turkey. Lobster was available. There was a buffet and reservations could be made for dinner at the Ranchon (a la carte). Sides were rice and potatoes, and veggies. My favorite part was the desserts - this place did not overload the pastries and cakes with sugar - they were very tasty. Fruits were available every meal. Excellent coffee and great bar service 24/7. The sun shone everyday for 2 weeks, with only 1/2 hour of rain. The pools (one was near the nudist beach) were clean and filled with salt water. My bungalow had two full beds and the room was on the smallish side - but it was perfect as I went solo. There were many couples and a lot of solo travellers as well. Many of the guests were from Montreal and Toronto. A nice mix. The bathroom in the bungalow had a new tub (with a plug) and a stand up shower with more hot water than anyone needs. The nude beach was small but it was a true beach. Since the larger beach area was washed away by the weather - the hotel offered a free shuttle with a packed lunch to Playa Serena - a truly beautiful beach. Three shuttles left in the morning at one hour intervals 9.45, 10.45 and 11.45 am and the return bus was at 1, 3, or 5 pm. This resort caters to adults - so no all day pool party unless you make it yourself. For me, this was a perfect place to relax and recharge. I would return.

Our first time to Cayo Largo by air. I was here years ago on my sailboat. DON'T fool yourself. This is NOT a 5 star Hilton in a large populated area. This is remote CUBA. Quiet, lots of sun, fantastic staff, excellent food as far as you can expect on a remote island off of Cuba mainland. The key to this place is to ask questions. Most staff speak excellent English or go to google play and download the microsoft translator. If you are here for the beach I wouldn't get too excited. The small beach directly in front of the resort was very small for the 2 weeks that we were there. Just nature doing it's thing. Mostly naturalists on the beach there. There are 3 shuttles in the morning to the marina where you catch a small water taxi to the available beaches that are huge! 3 shuttles and water taxis back in the afternoon. These rides are included in your package. NOTE: The facilities at the off property beaches are not included. Drinks, food etc. Ask at the Iguana main snack bar for a take out lunch. No charge. We were at Villa Iguana for 15 days and only went to the beach for 2 hrs. one day. The other days we just hung out at the new pool. Very nice. The Government bank is at the Marina and will give you fair exchange rates. Avoid the bank at noon as it is the busiest then. The bank does not take debit! Only major credit cards for cash advances. We took $400.00 cash Canadian with us and came home with $20.00. DO not take U.S. funds. If you have never been to Cuba or the surrounding Islands before, the key is to tip small but often. On arrival I exchanged $20.00 CDN for Pesos at Reception to get me through the first night. The next morning I caught the free beach shuttle to the bank ( marina ). 6% less exchange rate at the bank as compared to the resort. Cashed $150.00 CDN for pesos all in ones. you can ask for coins or paper. The best small variety store for tourists is across the street from the resort next to the car, ATV and scooter rental station. NOT THE MARINA STORE! Extremely expensive there. Consider this fabulous resort as an Adult Summer Camp. An absolute hidden gem. Comfortable, clean and has all of the amenities that you need. Mixed ages but mostly mid thirties to mid fifties. TIP: Don't forget your Bubba Cups ( cooler mugs) and bring a travel first aid kit for band aids and cream etc. and insect repellent for DUSK. We brought a Blu Ray DVD player that had a USB port and HDMI cable that connected to the modern HD flat screen tvs. Voltage is 220V so bring a converter to be certain. We brought a cheap one we purchased at Walmart for $18.99 We loaded a bunch of movies on a stick to save space. Bring your own bags of tea as they sometimes ran out and then we had to wait for the next supply boat. We are more the go to bed early and rise early people. We did not see the entertainment once although I understand that it is fun. We would go to the main snack bar at 5:30 am to have our coffee and tea read the news on our cell phones and watch the sunrise. The snack bar is open 24 hrs. Internet is by a password card that you purchase at reception for 5 pesos that gives you 5 hrs. of internet. REMEMBER to turn off your WIFI when you are done using the internet. I spoke with my daughters back home several times with Whats App. Great connection with video calling. Way cheaper than roaming with Cuba Cell. We were so taken by this place. The ambience is magical. There are too many staff to give special mention to. We have already booked next year to return. Ian and Kelley. London Ontario.

This is an adult only resort, which I knew before booking. What I did not realize was the average age was around 55. But, that was not able to kill the buzz for the trip! I booked a bungalow and was not disappointed! I found my room did not have a safe in it. Upon talking to other guests, it turns out it was just an isolated incident with my room. Food is actually quite decent! I never went hungry. Booze was good too! Staff were absolutely amazing! I dealt with Alicia from Hola Sun, and had no problems at all! I would definitely go back again! Definitely worth a solo trip on a budget!!
