The rooms are clean and nicely designed. We stayed in the attic room and the ceilling was very low which made our stay less comfortable. The pool was clean, however there wasn't enough sunbeds for all the guests. I would rate the stay 4 stars if it wasn't for the disapointing breakfasts. Unfortunately, there was a very limited choice of food, with absolutely no vegetables and no warm meals. There was only white bread and one type of cheese. We were forced to buy tomatos in the nearby store and sneak it into the cantine. The worst thing about the breakfast was the rotten fruit they gave us. That's a shame cause Villa La Grotta is a very nice place to stay except that thing.
I miss the time spent in Tuscany in this unique Villa. I'm planning to come back soon. Gianluca, the owner, is a great guy. Generous and always available, is evident that he loves his work and Villa la Grotta.
We stayed 3 nights at the Villa La Grotta and the location was ideal for our stay as we had a wedding at Il Borro some 3 km away. Our experience was an excellent stay from the moment we stepped at the reception till we need to departed back to Malta. The accommodation was in the farmhouse which was ideal and served our purpose and the property has all the amenities one would require such as a large clean swimming pool/umbrellas/deckchairs and garden. The daily great breakfast was served by a sweet lady, an excellent service of Edoardo at the reception and Gianluca, nice gentleman and owner who greeted us and made us feel welcome providing all the information we required about the area and the town of San Guistino Valderno. Villa La Grotta can be reached easily from the town by a 15 min walk situated in the peaceful countryside. One can also enjoy a pizza/meal and a drink in one of the bars or restaurants but need would need personal transport for other nearby towns or places of interest. We were only troubled by some mosquitos during our stay as it was the hot season but we have to deal with that also in our country...For the rest, I really recommend this place if you need accommodation in this part of Tuscany as you are in great hands!…
We were treated to an excellent service from the very helpful staff throughout our stay. The owner/manager makes everyone feel welcome; usually offering a local speciality soup on one of the nights...full of homely goodness from yesteryear in Tuscany. The staff are all very helpful and friendly and nothing seems too much trouble for them at any time of the day. Our appartment, like the swimming pool was cool...though a fan recommended in height of summer should the breeze from the nearest mountain not be forthcoming perhaps. Highly recommmended for a retreat into the Tuscan countryside, full of local tastings (wine/olive oil on bread) and lovely less well-known towns to visit. We would recommend going on the 'Da Vinci' exhibition outing with Guan-Luca to the next village (15 mins); follow him to a small volunteer-run building and learn things about the Mona Lisa, the genius artist/designer himself;...your short trip will end with a viewing of one of the painting's features in the village itself. Villa Notes: Good parking, spacious accommodation, bespoke cooking by owner if you order in advance. Good Pizzaria in village (10 mins walk)…
We rented a car and drove from Pisa. We arrived at villa la grotta late at night, and were greeted by the charming owner, Gianluca. We stayed in the Franscesca suite, a beatuiful Italian little apartment. The villa has a really nice swimming pool with a cooling temperature which was nice because of the warm weather. The staff was always very welcoming and friendly and had great recommendations for restaurants etc.
Gianluca you are an enthusiast and that is in my book the most important aspect when you work with the public, your structure is resplendent and glorious , your surroundings Are sublime and i felt nurtured as if vere in my very own livingoom . This is a no contest !!!!
My experience at Villa la Grotta was something truly remarkable, the host Gianluca is a very forthcoming person and so is the staff, what I enjoyed the most was the spa, I watched a whole movie with my girlfriend with a candlelight ambience, a great sound system a theatre like screen and the hydromassage, it was quite the atmosphere. I also really enjoyed the visible care the villa has for its outdoor, it has a lot of nature blending quite well with the natural reserve just outside and the pool even if the temperature was still a little too cold for me was really nice to look at, well kept with clean water from a nearby spring. I recommend this to everyone.
We went to the villa for 5 nighrs but had the worst stay of our life. Everywhere in the bathroom fungus and other nasty stuff. The toilet didn't flush and we had to use towels as toilet paper the last 2 nights because our room was never cleaned while we asked twice, the second time they decided to ignore us. The wifi connection is awful in the rooms. The pool was poorly cleaned once a week by young untrained staff. The host was very mean to us after we complained and said we shoudn't wine so much. Breakfast was very bad, always the same and on the last night the yoghurt was outdated. We coudnt sleep well because we could hear the neighbours talking. The host also invited us to eat at the "restaurant" and paying for it also. At the beggining he tried to upgrade our room to 75 euro more per night, we abstained. It was disgusting! Overall i advise not going here, go to a different place but not here.…
The staff could not have been more helpful/friendly and gave some great recommendations for restaurants/things to do in the area. The pool was perfect, the pastries at breakfast delicious and the gardens peaceful. My partner and I had the most wonderful stay and will definitely return. Our room was in the attic and with no air con very warm and difficult to sleep at times and the spa was very pricey so we abstained, however neither of these things had a negative impact on our overall stay.
My company booked this entire villa for our salesmen and their customers during a 3 day technical seminar at our nearby manufacturing facility. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and peaceful. The rooms perfectly convey the old world charm one would expect from an old Italian villa. But best of all was the hospitality the owner Gianluca and his staff provided! Outstanding! Our entire group was so impressed. I only wish we would have had more free time to explore the area...........but I will definitely be booking a room here in the future for a nice vacation for my wife and myself!
