Hubby and I finished our 10 day tour of NZ at this amazingly beautiful property. The location is fantastic. The lodge building is of great design and maintained beautifully. My husband who loves to fly fish was blown away. I don't fish and yet had a wonderful time. It is the perfect destination for couples who either like to fish... More

I have fly fished all over the world and I can tell you that it does not get any better than Stonefly Lodge. Every aspect of my trip to Stonefly was exceptional. John and Kate Kerr are perfect hosts, and as owners, they insure no detail is overlooked. The accommodations are top notch. The cuisine (how many times can you... More

We stayed two nights in February of 2016 after a disappointing stay elsewhere in the Nelson area. John & Kate took us in as luxury traveler refugees and got our New Zealand adventure back on track. This place shines from the moment you enter the gates until you leave. John & Kate are the consummate hosts and have truly created... More

My wife and I spent 4 wonderful days at this beautiful lodge. John and Kate are the ultimate hosts and Stonefly is clearly a labor of love created from local timber cut and milled on site and crafted into a majestic but cozy lodge overlooking the Motueka River. The chef, Dean, is a wizard! Every meal was beautifully prepared and... More

The lodge is beautiful, with its natural wood and stone features. The location, right on the Motueka River, gives visitors breath-taking views. John and Kate are wonderful hosts and take care of your every need, from making sure your laundry is clean to scheduling tours to communicating with guides, etc. Having evening drinks and canapés with the other guests was... As you wind along the lone road amid the cattle and sheep you abruptly come to the sign announcing the turn that will take you to the Stonefly Lodge. This dirt road winds up the hill till you see the astonishing lodge ahead of you. Your expectations are met as you open the door and experience the beauty of this... More

John and Kate Kerr have created an extraordinary Lodge in all respects and offer the finest fishing I have had on the South Island, along with 5 star food and fabulous accommodations. But the best part of anyone's stay are Kate and John themselves---they make their home your home and will cater to your every whim-if you want a massage... More

The accommodations (thank you, John & Kate!) and the food (thank you, Chef Dean!) were exemplary, but the heli-fishing was the absolute best. Stunning scenary from the sky and then up close and personal. The water was so pure you could drink from the rivers directly. The rocks formed rapids small enough to wade and large enough to avoid all... More

John and Kate have set up an incredibly impressive oasis in the hillsides of the Motueka River. Fully 'off grid' but still offering premium luxury, whether you're going to fish or for a holiday to reconnect with nature, you're in for a treat at Stonefly Lodge. Rooms are spacious and overlook a magical mountain / river setting. The beds are... More

This is onne real nice contemporary Lodge near Nelson - a great scenic drive from Nelson. Next to a stream, the lodge is not even connected to the grid - all the power used is generated by themselves hydroelectric and solar. Fantastic views from the lodge, amazing architecture.
