Place was okay, I could care less about the cleanliness and whatnot - that stuff was okay, and the staff were pretty nice. What wasn't okay is getting charged 550K for a bus where everyone else on the bus got charged 450K. Also paid what I found out was about 50-100K extra for the boat tour that they do. For a place that wants to embody the anti-capitalist, free-spirited culture of the 60s, it sure does a good job of taking your money...

I’m not usually one to leave a bad review but I was pretty disappointed with the service at this place. We booked a 4 bed private room with a/c which was fine the rooms were clean and comfortable (if you don’t mind a bit of nature, bugs etc.) The location is quite isolated unless you hire a motorbike the centre is about a 15 minute drive although they do have a bar and food there if you’re happy with staying in the one spot. The thing I was most disappointed about is I ordered a vegetarian fried noodles and staff brought around a chicken fried noodles which was incorrect, once they realised they had made a mistake, instead of making a new meal for me or giving that meal to a meat eater they sneakily tried to take the chicken out but as you can see by the photo they missed a few bits and still served me the meal. I just feel this is so dishonest and if someone actually had an allergy this could be a major issue. Wouldn’t stay here again or recommend to anyone to be honest.

We were staying at the eco lodge on Cat Ba and my wife, daughter and I decided to take a bike ride to the beach (as the pool was full of algae but that’s another story). Anyway we arrived at the beach and were instantly attracted by the reggae music coming from the Woodstock Baby bar. Two beers and an hour later we had many more tales to tell as a result of our off agenda stopover. Get your schwifty on at Woodstock Baby!!!!

Woodstock beach camp was a paradise on the island of Cat Ba. The people, the scenery and the general good vibes make it a must stay when visiting. HOWEVER, do not eat any food (apart from the breakfast eggs) from the kitchen. On the day of leaving I spoke to 11 people who were sick (I was sick the day before) having eaten from here. Stick to the food in nearby Cat Ba town. Apart from that 5/5!

Don´t even think to waste your time in this crap. First of all, NONE OF THE PICTURES SHOWED MATCH WITH THE REALLITY. I´ve got very disappointed when see it after dropping the bus. I tought "ok, at least it´s beach front." I´ll tell you what. I´ve never seen so dirty beach in my life. It´s just impossible for swiming there. The hostel is falling apart. All the tables around the bar are very dirty during the whole day. The food is far from being the tasty vietnamise food. They are 5km from town which leave you with no good options for eating or buying anything. They have a motorbike renting service which is the most dangerous I´ve ever seem. You can easily see that those bikes have no good maintenace. I rent a bike with almost no brakes and no lights at all. When I returned, the staff he said he knew it. It´s reason enough for you don´t staying there butI still tell you the worst part. Five people who were sleeping on the same place as me and my girlfriend got stomach sick, including me and my girlfriend. The day I´m sick another guest come to sleep on my bed. I tell him that there was a mistake as I was sleeping the for the last two nights. We go to the reception, I explain for the 3 staffs there that by mistake someone book this guy on my bed. They never assume that they mistake it and even worst, they said that I was wrong because I was sleeping on that bed since I supose to share my bed with my girlfriend. That is what is on the sistem, said the arrogant staff. I couldn´t believe on that. So, now I have no bed and they put me in a situation which looks like I am taking advantage paying 1 bed and using 2. The fabulous manager give me two possible solutions. I can either sleep on another bed far from my girlfriend or sleep close her on a mattress which my gierlfriend witnessed a cat peeing just the day after. The manager said it was ok because he had cleaned. I said "So you should sleep on that". Actually all of the four or five dogs which live there walk and sleep on the bed as I see many times happening. To resume everything. No one give me a good solution as EVERY STAFF is simply very stoned smoking pot the whole day. I have to change those mattres by my on and find some mosquito net to try to have some sleep. The day after, for my surprise, one of the staffs come and ask "How are you doing with the check out?" I said "Are you saying that I have to leave?" He said "That´s what I´m saying". So... me and my girlfriend feeling sick have to pack everything quickly as he is anoying me each 5 minutes saying that I should move all my stuffs from there and find another place. After we pack everything, the same staff come for the last time with two others, trying to intimidating me, saying that they would "help" to put me out if needed. THE PLACE IS VERY DIRTY, NOISY AND FAR FAR WAY FROM BEING A WOODSTOCK VIBE. DON´T BUY IT.
