We stayed for one night and had a fantastic time. The room was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was delicious, my husband had pizza and I had a seafood pasta dish. The decor of the rooms and the hotel must be seen. We

Response from whistledownhotel, Public Relations Manager at The Whistledown Hotel
Responded Feb 16, 2019
Hi Sonya and Anthony, I refer to your review above and note your request for a public response .The first and extremely serious point I must immediately address is the implication that the food you ate in the restaurant made you unwell. This is a very serious allegation against the hotel and I would appreciate an immediate phone call to clarify what exactly is meant by this statement as I am more than confident that all is well on our side. Our health and safety records are impeccable and the environmental health officer actually conducted his inspection last week and awarded us the highest rating of 5 stars. We can prove this with documentary evidence. You were seated in the designated area for breakfast as is normal in all hotels and attended to by a pleasant, very well mannered, well trained and professional waitress who has served many years in this trade and is a highly valued member of my team. Normally people avail of the buffet at their leisure and then order breakfast. Once alerted that you were in a hurry the breakfast waitress immediately instructed the breakfast chef to put up your breakfast and this was attended to swiftly. As it was Valentines week our chefs were highly prepared for a busy service but had you mentioned you wanted a certain amount of time before your evening meal was served we would have happily accommodated this .Too slow on one occasion and too fast on the other. It is quite difficult to determine accurate service requirements without precise guidance from yourselves at the time. You booked a Valentines package through our online booking engine which is extremely keenly priced but entirely different to a flat corporate bed and breakfast rate. You were also afforded an early check in and a late check out at absolutely no extra charge. The Thorntons chocolates included in the package were well within their sell by date so I cannot understand why these disappointed you as well . It is unfortunate you did not mention any or all of these problems on checkout when you requested a discount on the grounds that you were attending a training course in the town. The receptionist quite correctly declined your request for discount and I fully support her decision . I have made a number of phone calls to the number held on file but to date I have had no response. Perhaps you could ring us directly to the hotel so I can pursue your initial comments.
