This guest house suited me perfectly for my one night stay. Large room with heritage features and ample facilities. The bathroom had a powerful shower which uniquely had an ancient wooden beam running a couple of inches above your head! Helpful to have a fridge (with honesty bar included). The neighbouring Town Hall clock tower chimes the quarter hour, but... More

We stayed on a mid-week 3 nights for 2 deal for the second time, mainly due to its excellent location for walking in this part of South Shropshire. Value for money was excellent. The b&b and café is well run by friendly hosts Clive, Julie and Lynn. This historic building has a lot of character and is well located in... More

My husband and a friend recently stayed at this bed and breakfast for a walking holiday. The rooms were large and comfortable. There were tea and coffee making facilities and a thoughtful addition was a mini bar in the room that you could purchase drinks from if required. Breakfast was served downstairs in the cafe with good food and a... More

Parts of the building are 800 years old, built on the foundations of the old castle. The room was well presented and clean, the bathroom was more than acceptable. You have to accept this is an old building on several slightly different levels and uneven floors which could present a problem to a person with mobility issues there are also... More

We stayed for two nights and had a great time. The room and the service was of very high quality and couldn't be faulted. The staff are very friendly. The place is much better than their website suggests. -the decor and furnishings have been changed and upgraded since the photos were taken. The building is very old and characterful with... More

Stayed for two nights and we loved the Poppy house. The staff were so lovely and helpful and made us and our two year old daughter feel so welcome. The food was delicious, the beds very comfortable and the towels super fluffy and soft. The room was very well appointed, with plenty of character, and there were many thoughtful extra... More

Booked Sunday lunch during the Michaelmas weekend, so not the standard menu on offer. However, the all day breakfast was just what I fancied. Lovely bacon and sausages, thick crusty bread, lashings of tea. Finished with a gluten free chocolate brownie which was lovely

We were first time visitors to the town and so glad we chose the Poppy House to stay in. Beautiful old building, full of character - complete with wooden beams and sloping floors! A good night's sleep in a really comfortable bed, and a delicious freshly cooked breakfast. Our hosts, Clive and Julie, were really friendly. Bishops Castle is a... More
