Hotelli Olof is a nicely decorated and friendly small hotel in the city centre, on a short walking distance from the bus stop and the border to Sweden -it is a 10 minute walk to the shops in Sweden, including an IKEA store. The Haparanda train station can be reached by foot in 30 minutes.. The rooms are clean, modern and nicely furbished. Complimentary coffee, sweets and biscuits are offered all day. I paid 115 euros for a single room, which is a reasonable price for a quallity hotel in Finland. The staff is friendly and I was tempted to give an overall rating of five, but the booking system on the hotel's website is not working well -I did not receive the promised confirmation e-mail, not even in the junk mail, and I had to call the hotel in the old fashion to finalise my reservation. They should probably update their online booking system. This was however no big deal, and I had an enjoyable and good stay at the hotel.…
I stayed at Hotelli Olof for one night during my work trip to Tornio. The bed was absolutely my favourite part of the trip. Only noise I heard was when someone in our conference came from dinner a bit later than others but even though my room was facing the road, it was very quiet. Decorations were nice and modern, bathroom very tidy and you could tell the place is new as there was no grime in seams of tiles nor stains on shower walls. Did not try the shampoos and conditioners but the small bottles were cute. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was my second favourite thing in the hotel. Porridge (oat meal) bar was just what I needed to get the day started. Location of the hotel is also quite nice - you can go easily for a walk to centrum or by the riverside.
Stayed here for one night. The room was really spacious, clean and absolutely beautifully decorated. Everything was very comfortable but modern. The bed was comfy and the room had aircon and darkening curtains. The lady in the reception was polite and very professional. Breakfast was included and it was very good. There were a lot of fresh options. The food was healthy and very tasty. There was enough parking space in front of the hotel. Everything needed was very near. All in all, we enjoyed ourselfs!
We stayed here for two nights, friendly staff and the room was okay. We stayed in jr suite, 419, roomy and comfy, but the kitchen smelled, especially the fridge. The Hotel should have informed about the noise when we checked in, so we could have gotten some earplugs, because it was crazy loud both night we stayed there. Its a nightclub downstairs, and the volume and pounding is too much, and we are normally heavy sleepers. Not much sleep on us before 5 in the morning. With the nightclub follows a lot of drunk people screaming in the street outside.
Hotel is recently renovated, actually some of the rooms were still under renovation but it didn't take place on our weekend there. Our room was junior suite at 3rd floor. It was roomy and clean. Small kitchen also. Furniture was new and in good shape but the TV wasn't smart so we didn't use it so much...TV-shows aren't that interesting here :D I hated the "smoke glass" -bathroom door! Little more privacy thank you! Our room was on the Hallituskatu side of the road and opposite was bar Umpitunneli and the street was very restless and popular for the whole weekend. We heard everything that was going on outside so if you want to sleep, take earplugs with you. Bed is good though. Breakfast was quite constricted but enough for us. Staff was really polite and friendly. I didn't see any instuctions for residents in case of fire etc. in the rooms and there were no phone or important phone numbers in the room.…
The Hotel is very easy to find and situated overlooking the river so the view is excellent, during my visit it was a river of snow. The hotel staff were very friendly and spoke very good English which i appreciated as i don't speak the Finnish language. There is an elevator from the lobby floor but as i my room was on floor 2 i chose to take the stairs. The room was a good size for a standard with a double bed (two singles pushed together) a chair to sit in, storage space (wardrobe) and a unit with the TV on, very clean and tidy. The bathroom was bright and also very clean and tidy. lots of channels on the TV from both the Finnish and Swedish TV companies and with no voice overs so the English programs had subtitles, again, excellent, (yes i know that's not down to the hotel but i still appreciate it). The lobby/reception was also very clean, quiet and welcoming, as was the dining/breakfast area. A good choice for breakfast too. The only thing i could request would be a kettle/nesspresso in the room.…
This hotel was a short 20 minute drive from the Kemi airport and an easy drive to our ice breaker cruise over the border in Sweden the next day. We arrived late so there were unfortunately not good restaurant options still open (burger place across the street), but the reception was warm and welcome - and we LOVED the little chocolate covered cookies they had out with jam in the middle :) We paid a little more for a junior suite and felt that it was well worth the upgrade. The room was large and included a sitting area, kitchenette and private bathroom. Much larger than we expected and nicely decorated and clean. The breakfast was delicious too. I'd stay here again if we are ever back!
Let's face it, Tornio is a small city and far far away from being a major tourist attraction. Usually in cities like this, you find one or two hotels/hostels, that are like a flashback from 80's. Olof would be nice hotel in any city, but in Tornio they are like breath of fresh air. You can see from the building and elevator, that there still is some renovating to do. But from stylish reception, to our spacious Suite(check my pic) with comfy bed, little kitchen and huge TV, they have done great job so far. Free parking, free hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi and friendly front desk. They serve beer and other beverages in the lobby and there is one restaurant next door and other bars/pubs/restaurants in the same street. So absolutely number 1 choice in Tornio/Haparanda area!
Stayed here twice, first night on my way to Lofoten Islands and then again on my way back as we headed south towards Helsinki. It's a good little hotel in the center of Tornio. Easy to find parking near the hotel and geographically Tornio proved to be the perfect stopover. I can't say much more about this hotel but overall it's probably a notch above average. Very good for one night.
Nice boutique hotel with modest service. We had to remind about cleaning our room. Wifi is free but slow. We had a Junior suite, it offered us a great amount of space and small kitchen with fridge. During weekends the traffic noise might disturb someone until late night. In room air conditioning was a plus.
