We got the rooms at half the usual price and I still think it was too expensive for what was offered. The rooms and the furniture seemed old and rundown, the bathroom sink was clogged so we had to call maintenance to fix it practically as soon as we arrived. The food was average hotel food, mostly tasteless, although dinner... More

The rooms in Sv. Stjepan are advertised like four stars rooms, but they are not of that level. Furniture is handmade of plywood, the beds are creaky, the carpet has stains. the walls have cracks. In our room there were two single beds put together, not one double bed. As regards the bathroom, it is spacious, but the towels were... More

One inside pool with too cold water and locked doors between it and outdoor pool. One has to go long way to reach outdoor pool and be sorry for doing that effort. They say outdoor pool's water dirt is because it's natural mud from the well but it has no filtering process so one can find peeled skin, mucus and... More

It was worst wellness experience! The thermal pool inside the hotel is open only from 10h to 15h (there are no working hours indicated on the web page so one cannot now it before coming there), which is the only therapeutic pool with thermal water of optimal temperature; the outdoors one is diluted and COLD, and the one in the... This beautifully located hotel has tons of potential, but renovations seem to have been done on the cheap. One needs to remember to bring a slip of paper with them wherever they go to gain access to the pools. White stained carpet in the room, no hot water, terrible food. I mean boiled weiners for breakfast and runny scrambled eggs... More

Four stars, where ????? Although they advertise and sell Sv. Stjepan rooms at four ˙˙˙˙ stars, these are more like three ˙˙˙ stars, bathroom amenities are none, apart from miniature round soaps, towels are poor and some days must be chased for at reception (no help), SAT TV not available, only two local channels - but with such a bad... Bad food and poor choice of food (they served old bread and cake all three days of our stay). The rooms are small and out of date, no balcony, the hotel needs renovation. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Istrian thermal resort is situated on the northwest part of the peninsula Istria in Croatia. It is 35 km distant from Poreč, 10 km from Buzet, only 40 km far from the Italian border and 10 km from the Slovenian border. The Istrian thermal resort is settled in the untouched nature outside the city where greenery, quiet and peace offer a particular atmosphere for your perfect repose. The Istrian thermal resort is placed at the foot of the very famous huge rock, 85 meters high, with the mineral spring Sveti Stjepan on the underside. This spring is well known for its hot water full of minerals (13 sorts).Such natural therapeutic properties of the water distinguish the Istrian thermal resort from other European thermal springs placing it at the third position of the European rank-list by the quality of water and therapeutic properties. The legend of Istarske TopliceThe spa resort of Istarske Toplice is located in the vicinity of Motovun Forest, beneath a vertical, 85-metre-high cliff, which is the tallest of its kind in Istria. On top of this cliff, the small church of St. Stephen was built in the 19th century on the site of an earlier church. The church can be reached along a narrow path that climbs steeply around the cliff. Once you arrive there, your effort will be rewarded with a magnificent view that stretches all the way down to the river. This cliff is the birthplace of one of the most beautiful legends of the local area. The legend says that once upon a time, an innocent girl was wrongly accused. In order to end her life and prove her innocence, the girl climbed up the steep cliff and, before throwing herself over the edge, made a wish that her innocence be proven by a source of healing water that would emerge from the spot where she fell…WATER AND FANGOThe uniqueness of the Istarske Toplice resort lies in the natural healing properties of its water, which has been known and used for treatments for centuries. ... more   less
