Rooms decent size. We had balcony witg sunbeds on not that we used the. Met some lovely people. Things need to improve slightly the food is not always hot and a plain meat or something needs to be proved for salads at lunch. A le carte restaurant nice ambience would be more romantic if tea lights put on tables at night as tge sun sets. If anybody still staying at hotel please contact me my partner left his sunglasses if they could bring back i can sort out postage. Too much to post from hotel but they have been found which is good 🤣

Positives: - Staff were Attentive, friendly, polite and always on hand to provide a top service. - Scenary from hotel is lovely and makes it very peaceful and relaxing Negatives/need URGENTLY sorting: - Mould in game room, our bedroom and inside the provided kettle. We asked to move room but this could not be accommodated due to lack of available rooms. This is a major health and safety issue. - Food was ALWAYS luke warm or cold unless it was cooked fresh from grill. Hotel manager said he was aware and is attempting to sort this. Also, choice of food was slim some evenings - if your a picky eater or don't like fish then you will struggle. - Hotel is practically all outdoor seating - we had very bad rain and wind by going in May and the hotel did not have the facilities to deal with this. Most of the seating is outdoors apart from game room so there was limited places in the hotel to go when it rained every day all week. Hotel should really have other areas or facilities to cater for guests when weather is poor. Very limited activities were organised by TUI reps either during this bad weather. - Lack of evening entertainment - the first night there was a band and then for a few days there was no entertainment and then bad weather hit and it was understandable entertainment could not get to the island, however, what about the other days when weather wasn't stopping people getting to the island? There was still no entertainment. I feel this hotel is not 4 star plus...I would put it at a 3 realistically. Overall, peaceful, relaxing place but really does need major improvements.

We’ve just returned from a wonderful week spent at Kalamota Island (last week of May). We were a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews on here but we really cannot fault it. The location was beautiful, the resort spotless, and the staff wonderful. Food seems to be the biggest complaint in the reviews, and we heard a few guests express similar complaints. Having stayed at all inclusive hotels of a similar standard before, we felt the food was exactly what we expected and my advice would be to manage your expectations. It’s buffet food/mass catering, and the meal times are long. The food is replenished and kept in warm dishes but does cool down as it’s sat out and as you fill up your plate/get back to your table. Some of the food was just ok - the veg tended to be over cooked, for example. But the meat dishes were nice, my partner very much enjoyed the fish, there were always filling options like rice and potato dishes, and some things were truly delicious - everything I had on “local” night was fab (I’m searching for a pumpkin and orange tart recipe to match the one I had), and the desserts every night really were excellent. There was plenty of choice with bread, cheese, cold meats and different salads offered every night alongside an array of mains, sides and meat or fish fresh from the grill. Breakfast and lunch options were similarly plentiful. One meal is included at the Cullinarium (posh restaurant) as part of your stay, and that was terrific food and a stunning location with a view of the sunset. We had a wonderful evening and if we’d stayed longer we would have happily booked and paid full prices for another meal there. The house wine (all colours and sparkling) was lovely and the cocktails were also great. The resort didn’t feel too busy during our visit - there was no scramble for sun beds, which are plentiful on the beach and by the pool, and at meal times the dining area didn’t feel crowded either. There are steps as the villas are nestled across the hillside around the bay, but they weren’t as extensive nor the resort as sprawling as some reviews led me to imagine. Do enquire further with the hotel if you have mobility issues or concerns though. There was plenty going on at the hotel. A couple of different activities were offered during the day such as Pilates, yoga, and aqua fit. There were games on the beach, sunset walks, walks to the village; there was live music most nights, a casino night one day, a cocktail making class and a wine tasting evening - definitely download the TUI Blue app and take a look at the programme each day so you don’t miss out, as some things require booking. We enjoyed a few walks around the island ourselves and found it easy to get into Dubrovnik on the 7.50am ferry (that was the car ferry, check ferry times at reception as they are different through the season I think. Journey takes 30-45 minutes depending which one you get). There is also kayak, paddle board and jet ski hire at the beach and we greatly enjoyed kayaking around the island. The island was great as a base to explore the city and other islands, but is also perfect as a relaxing and more secluded retreat in itself if that’s what you’re after. It really provided us with the best of both worlds. I’d thoroughly recommend the hotel overall. We had an amazing holiday and it was a real wrench to leave. I dare say we’ll be back in the future!

This is a wonderful destination to relax and recharge your batteries. If you are looking for plenty of nightlife and activity, this isn't the resort for you. The hotel is nestled in a tranquil bay with stunning views of the Croatian mainland. The staff genuinely try to make your holiday as pleasant as possible and there are daily activities if you wish to join in. The hotel is relatively small for an all inclusive hotel, which gives it the air of exclusivity. The rooms are well appointed and clean and of a reasonable size. The layout of the site gives plenty of scope to find a quiet spot to enjoy the sun and a cocktail or two. Incidentally the list of cocktails available as part of the all inclusive package is impressive. There were negative comments, we heard with regards to the food, but this wasn't our personal experience. The food isn't al a carte standard, but for a buffet there is a great selection and although some of the dishes may not suit all tastes, but there was plenty to suit our needs to choose from. All of the food was cooked well, and there is freshly cooked food available too. Once a week, you also have the choice of the culinarium restaurant, which serves wonderful a la carte fare.. so don't miss out on enjoying the sunset whilst enjoying a romantic meal. If you have mobility issues, the rooms are a bit of a climb. Similarly if you want to explore the island you will need to be prepared for a bit of a climb. The swimming pool is well maintained and cleaned, as are the sunbathing areas. With the island being sheltered from the wind its ideal for sun worshippers. Being an island resort, the main connection to the mainland is a ferry that runs 4 times a day. If you take one of the excursions offered, be prepared that once the trip is finished you might have a long wait for the ferry, and the ferry trip itself is 3/4 hour making any day trip a very long day. A word of warning too, popular trips are very quickly filled, so you may find that your first or second choice of trip is not available and you may need to prepare for a disappointment. Overall, our stay with Tui Blue was very enjoyable, with few issues, the staff helped make it a fun and relaxed experience. I would certainly recommend this destination for those wishing a tranquil place to spend their holiday with great sunsets and views.

After a minibus ride from the airport to the ferry port at Gruž, which is 3 Km west of the Old Town, we were ferried to Koločep island in a small boat with 8 other passengers. This took about 30 minutes and was a wonderful way to reach the island. On arrival our cases were taken straight from the boat and delivered to our room. We stayed for 7 nights in a 'Superior Double Room with Balcony'. Our room in Villa 4 was spacious, comfortable and clean. A few minor problems with the room that we encountered shortly after arrival were resolved very quickly. The lady who looked after our villa was delightful and very helpful. The accommodation is in villas built into the hillside and the climb up to them could be a problem for people with mobility issues who might want to request a room in one of the lower villas. Personally we felt the exercise walking up and down to our room was beneficial! The sandy beach right in front of the the hotel allowed easy access to the sea which was clean and a pleasant temperature. We've been surprised to read some reviews that have criticised the food as we found it to be of a good standard with plenty of choices and some nice touches. It's true that some days the soup and dishes in the buffet could have been a bit hotter but, having said that, there was always the hot counter where freshly cooked food was available. Particular highlights we enjoyed at the hot counter were the freshly cooked bass, red scorpion fish and lamb chops. The wine and beer included in the deal were fine and the signature cocktail very good. We enjoyed exploring the island using the numerous paths that criss-cross the island and found a couple of small bays where we could swim. The evening entertainment was good with a different group playing most evenings. The staff were all very friendly, cheerful and obliging. Credit should also be given to the managers and TUI representatives who worked very hard.

Kalamoto Island Hotel, we have just had the most wonderful week here. I will start with the all the Staff, they are all fantastic, all with smiles on their welcoming faces every day, they all work so hard to make sure guests are happy in all areas of the Hotel, so attentive, professional and helpful we could not fault the service from Reception, Dining, Bars, Housekeeping and the Tui reps were great. We enjoyed every meal and never went hungry. The Hotel is located in a beautiful position with a beach to the front and a short walk to the pier for ferry's into Dubrovnik. We explored the Island which could be a issue for people with mobility issues as could the Hotel itself so please read the full description when booking. For us this was a perfect peaceful week after a weeks cruise. Entertainment was really good in the evening and the pool was warm with plenty of sunbeds. Early ferry's were best for us to visit the old town as it does get very busy, bus stops very close to the ferry port so not a problem, ferry price was just over 12 euro for return trip for the two of us, but it was low season and I think that goes up to 4 euro each in June ?. We had a trip to Cavtat which cost 8 euro each way, Bus number 10, Cavtat is another beautiful bay and worth a visit. We would like to thank all the staff at the Kalamoto Hotel for a most fantastic week and such a memorable stay at this lovely Hotel Derek & Marie.

This hotel is clean and in a beautiful setting. The staff are extremely helpful and willing to please. That’s it for the plus ! The negatives on the other hand are in abundance. This hotel is definitely not 4 star plus ! The shower sprays up the ceiling. The air con we had to ask for it to be repaired. We were left without a second towel These issues where addressed fast and efficiently. The real and major issue is the food. We have been here three days and only one occasion was the food edible. We are here now. The meat is over cooked. The fish is dreadful. That is also overcooked The soup is liquid even if it’s cream of …. The vegetables are either hard or mulch. The chips are dry and over cooked. I have reported this to the hotel and the reps. They are arranging for the food and beverage manager to speak to us today although I don’t really see how the issue can be resolved. We are seasoned travellers. We stay in four star mostly or five star. This has to be the worst supposedly four star hotel ever. It is on a island so there are limited alternatives. That wouldn’t be a problem if we had multiple choices of eateries. But saying that we shouldn’t have to look for alternatives We have paid all inclusive. We have paid a lot of money for four star plus. Nothing as yet has reflected that. The balcony screens are dirty. The pbalcony doors are rather difficult to open. We paid for a partial sea view and that’s what we have. Two great big trees in the way with a sliver of sea view. As I have said the staff are lovely. Very attentive and always smiling. This hotel is definitely off my list to return. I’m a nurse and work hard. When I have a holiday I expect to receive the service I’m paying for. We have gone hungry two nights running. I was also quite bilious last evening. I had watery asparagus soup and a roll. This is what I’m expected to eat because the other choices are disgraceful. I’m not averse to eating the countries own cuisine but this food definitely isn’t fit for consumption. If you don’t care what you eat then come but if you are more inclined to enjoy your food and you are paying for the Tui blue four star plus experience then I’m sorry you won’t get it here.

Dear Z3116QPkarenf, Thank you for staying with us at TUI Blue Kalamota island resort. We thank you for your kind comment and are sorry we did not meet your expectation in various areas. Our kitchen is preparing various dishes daily and we also have themed dinner nights to make the food selection even better. We are sorry the food were not up to your standards. You may also book our a la carte restaurant Culinarium for the a la carte experience. We reacted imediatelly for your room balcony comment. If you reserved a room with limited sea view there will be some obstructions in the view towards the sea. We also offered you a meeting with our Food and beverage manager to comment in detail issues you had with food variety and to try to find the best option for your taste. Thank you Kind regards, TUI Blue Kalamota management

We had a really good holiday. Was it perfect, absolutely not - however the room issues we had with the air conditioner were all sorted out. The 1st half of the holiday, the hotel was quite and service levels were great - thereafter the hotel filled up fast (cruise liner guests) and then the hotel was understaffed and the food not perfect (ques around the fresh cooking area) - however to rectify that, we got in early. All in all we had a great time - we had heaps of fun - met some amazing people - and most importantly created good memories !

Me and my partner stayed in May of 2023. There were definitely pros and cons to the hotel, location and timing but overall, we walked away from our holiday happy. Firstly, the transfer boat included is very small and be prepared to feel slightly scared and very seasick if the swell is particularly strong that day. The hotel itself is lovely, very intimate and yet spacious enough to feel comfortable and able to explore the resort. The scenery is idyllic initially, but if you do explore beyond the resort, parts of the island are covered in scrap and deserted debris… so it does appear quite messy and unkempt. But the sea is crystal clear and the mountains along the horizon, you just don’t get over it The rooms are lovely, very spacious and lots of storage too, the balconies are on the small side but we stayed on the bottom floor where we had a double terrace & egg chairs, so I’d suggest asking for this beforehand. The bathroom is functional and on the nicer side, however the showers are are slightly outdated, but the water pressure is fine luckily. But the beds… oh my god. Stunning. The quilts were lovely, we had 8 pillows between us and the mattress is delightful, I slept amazingly, every time I lay down I just fell asleep, I’ve never napped so much on holiday. The food, is rather unpredictable. Everything was made well, but if you’re a restricted or picky eater like myself, you’re going to struggle. Chips were a luxury. Whilst the food is very authentic and there’s fresh cooked pasta, meats and eggs every meal time on a griddle upon request, be prepared to see a lot of aged meats, pickled vegetables and a very poor vegetarian/vegan section. The desserts were hit and miss, I had the best chocolate cake of my life there but it was only served twice :(. If you like to be adventurous and experience authentic food of the location, here’s definitely your choice. The service was again, hit and miss. Whilst every staff member was pleasant, the chances of being served your drinks at the beginning of a meal time were slim, and you’d have to wait a while for your plates to be taken away. The housekeeping staff were very attentive in the beginning, we had fresh towels, the bed was made and the room polished and swept every time we returned after breakfast for the first 3 days. Then they just began skipping past our room completely, the one day I had to phone through to reception twice to ask for the room to be made whilst we were out, we came back hours later and it still wasn’t cleaned or made… I definitely recommend the sauna, whilst I didn’t use the spa facilities as I believe they were quite overpriced, the sauna was amazing, we used it every morning. The gym is basic but functional for light weight training or cardio. Be warned too if you use the public ferry, Jadrolinija. We were due to catch a ferry home after spending the day in Dubrovnik old town, but they cancelled it 10 minutes before it was due to leave because of ‘weather conditions’, after being aware that the weather was going to be poor in the evening. This meant my partner and myself, someone who is disabled, were stranded in Dubrovnik with no working phone between us and no way of being able to get back to Kalamota island. We had to fork out 86€ for a stay in a dire hotel near Port Gruz, which we were told by Jadrolinija staff we’d be reimbursed for… But the next morning their tune changed and we were told we wouldn’t be reimbursed and we had to pay for new ferry tickets. Overall a positive experience, but there are slight points of concern, thank you for our time spent at Kalamota island, it was lovely x

All staff are helpful, happy and attentive. We can't fault anything, the food was plentiful, I'm a picky eater and I didn't go hungry. We went as a six and we all enjoyed it. I think some people just like to complain after reading some earlier reviews. The island is peaceful, beautiful and relaxing. Dubrovnik is a ferry trip away. We would definitely go back. You can walk the island which has stunning views, or you can just relax by the pool.
