We had an amazing 2 night stay to celebrate my birthday. Staff are so friendly and helpful and Sreven the duty manager gets a gold star for making our stay so special. Food choice at breakfast time was excellent. Dinner was delicious and restaurant staff really make you welcome. Wine prices very reasonable. We had a deluxe room which was clean and spacious with a huge comfortable bed. Robes and slippers were also provided. Leisure facilities were excellent and the pool and spa area were spotless. Lots of fitness classes available too. The hotel follows covid rules with a one way system and it was very clean so we felt safe. Would recommend a stay here. And if you like golf it's a added bonus.

Was disappointed to say the least, the entrance looks nice, behind it is only what I can describe at a 300 bedroom travel lodge attached to the main building. Long trip to our room, down steps, up in a lift so be aware of this if you have mobility issues. The bedroom itself was nice & clean, empty biscuit wrapper on the floor as we entered but these things happen and was no big deal. The view was grim. Anyway we made our way to the 'cocktail' bar, it's just a nice room with a bar and a very small cocktail list, the guests we chatted with agreed it was missing a special something, at £6 a pint & £27 a bottle of wine we did not want greeting with tables full of plates & left over food. The final blow was the absolute farce with ordering room service for dinner. Couldn't get through on the room phone so husband went to the desk to order, at which point he was told he had to leave a minimum of £50 deposit at the desk for any food we ordered even though the total wasn't that much, did it anyway and returned to room, then the kitchen rang to say they only had 1 beef burger left (6.30pm on a Saturday night, something about only pre-ordering a small number in to the hotel) so husband opted for a chicken burger. The food is of top quality prices so you can imagine our shock when we was faced with frozen chips and a chicken burger so thin I thought it was bacon when he showed me (see photos) no garnish, nothing. That was the final straw, we spent almost £100 on food & drink that night and wished we hadn't of bothered. The building with the bedrooms are shabby outside, extremely poor maintenance. The sensory garden had us in stitches, what a dump, right next to the smoking shelter that's covered in graffiti (again see photos). But, the breakfast was lovely, plentiful & tasty, all the staff was pleasant & looked smart. Please don't buy into the country estate/golf club thing, it's not what we was expecting at all & won't return!!!

We had our wedding at the Dalmahoy on 21st May and it was the best day we could have asked for! Everything from start to finish ran smoothly, and the staff were second to none. The wedding coordinator Danielle is a credit to the hotel! We had to move our day a few times and cut the guest numbers from 80 day and a further 50 at night down to 15 in total and the dalmahoy were so attentive and understanding. Nothing was an issue. The organisation on the run up and on the day were seamless. The wedding ceremony itself was held in the small church in the grounds which really is a stunning setting for your vows. Carole the coordinator there had everything in order for arrival and candles lit- it was beautiful! (It’s also dog friendly!) Myself and the bridesmaids spent the night prior to the wedding in the turret suite, and my husband and I had two nights in the honeymoon suite. The whole weekend was one to remember. If you’re considering the Dalmahoy for your wedding day we’d highly recommend!! I could go on and on but I’ve attached some photos for an idea of how beautiful our day really was (and the weather was horrendous!)

The hotel was decorated beautifully for the festive period. We had a classic twin room with two double beds for the four of us, it looked like the room had just been refurbished as there were no dirty scuff marks anywhere and the carpet was spotlessly clean. The room size was spacious, the bathroom was a very good size and had lovely fluffy towels. The room temperature was perfect and you could open the window if you wanted some fresh air, unlike some hotel rooms. The breakfast was fantastic and you could choose from a continental or full Scottish breakfast or have a mixture of both. The Scottish hot breakfast was buffet style and was served by a staff member so you could choose what you wanted and you didn't have to worry about touching spoons etc in these Covid times. Continental items were brought to your table. Every member of staff we came across was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is so large that even with the help of a room map, we did manage to get ourselves lost a bit but we soon worked out which route to take to breakfast and reception. The swimming pool is a very good size and they restrict the numbers because of Covid so you have to book in advance. Getting an Uber was problematic but you just need to ask for a taxi from reception which for one of our journeys was cheaper than an Uber (a bit of a surprise). Just make sure you book a cab/taxi back when venturing out to other restaurants, we did get stuck by not being able to order a cab back to the hotel but we worked out which bus took us back to the hotel entrance. We did eat in the hotel, the food was very good but the menu offered a limited choice, luckily that night, we were all able to order something we enjoyed. Probably slightly more on the expensive side compared to other local restaurants and there was one fantastic local Italian restaurant which we visited. The hotel is served very well by the X27 and X28 bus into and out of Edinburgh city centre and we used this a few times, we didn't mind the walk to the bus stop. The only one thing we didn't get on with was the mattresses and pillows, we found this a bit strange as for whatever reason, they just were not comfortable, someone needs to road test these. Don't let this put you off as the hotel is wonderful. We would have no problem in recommending this hotel and if we were visiting Edinburgh again, we would rather stay here than one of the city hotels in Edinburgh.
