We stayed here recently for four nights in one of the (converted) pig sty rooms. Very comfortable, and having a dog it was nice to step straight out into the spacious and very pretty grounds. Our dog loved the large stretch of meadow behind the hotel. The restaurant was very cosy although a little more in the way of lighting... More

Wonderful façade. old world charm in the main building, and very friendly staff made this a memorable stay. Breakfasts well presented and individually cooked, such a relief after too many 'buffet' style in other places. Bradford-u Avon a wonderfully charming town with history both old (Saxon Church) and new ( see the Golden post Box!)

I stayed here as part of a 2-day business conference. I arrived early (lunchtime) and had a rather odd check-in experience where there was some confusion about whether the room was ready. I stayed in room 22 which is one of their 'suites' and the room was lovely - away from the main building across a courtyard with views over... More

The Moonraker is full of rustic charm with lovely, welcoming staff. It reminds me of a number of small hotels in France. My room (4) was well equiped with a big comfortable bed and good shower. Dinner was first class, succulent duck breast that melted in the mouth. Breakfast was busy but I didn't have to wait long for a... More

Beautiful main building with sympathetic additions where most of the bedrooms and the restaurant are located. We had a very helpful welcome as there were bikes to store safely. Really nice food, making good use of their own chickens, pigs and vegetable produce. Home smoked salmon very tasty. Very pleasant staff in the restaurant. Address is Trowbridge but it is... More

The room was amazing, highly spacious with a television and perfect bathroom. The restaurant food was wonderful, the breakfasts were very filling and delicious. The staff were very friendly and nice and enjoyed hearing all about my dog. They let my dog sit in the restaurant and he very much enjoyed his stay.

A stunning period building within easy reach of beautiful Bradford on Avon. Beautifully furnished, this is definitely a good night stop. However, Room 17 need a little attention... The curtains are not wide enough for the Windows; they don't meet in the middle or if they do, there's a good 3-4 inch gap on either side allowing light in. We... More

Fantastic experience from start to finish....Lovely old building and our room in the attic was lovely. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Dined in also during our stay and the food was tremendous. Can not recommend this hotel highly enough. Will definitely visit... More

Lovely stay with partner and our two dogs. Friendly service and good food. While it is a dog friendly hotel, the room showed the signs a little. Clean linen and towels, but carpets, sofa, decoration and bathroom, while acceptable, could do with a refresh.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Moonraker hotel, a grade 2 listed 21 bedrooms Manor house situated on the outskirts of Bradford on Avon/ Trowbridge and a 15 minute drive from the Bath Spa. Mentioned in the Domesday book as being part of the Abbess of Glastonbury's estate, the Manor house was originally build in Queen Ann Style before being upgraded in the 17th century to Bath stone. Purchased by Tudor & Lucy Hopkins in July 2013 the hotel has undergone a full refurbishment including transforming the restaurant into a relaxed informal dining space. Head Chef Matthew Briddon (River cafe, Paul Heathcotes) joined the team in September 2013 and has created menus around the hotels kitchen garden and onsite smokery. Nine bee hives provide the hotel honey and rare breed pigs live on the grounds. Kathy Lette (writer and author) stayed at The Old Manor and wrote an article for the Express where she said: 'The bedrooms, with their four poster beds and wide wooden roof beams, are so Jane Austen-esque I kept expecting Mr Darcy to get down on bended knee' The Moonraker oozes old world charm and is a relaxed cotsworld escape with some of the UK's top attractions on its doorstep. ... more   less
