Self-catering apartments right beside the sea, v low-key, charmingly discreet service, lovely swimming pool (unusually deep at one end, allowing you to dive). We had a relaxing time here. Not a bad breakfast, particularly for us aficionados ( a small group) of tinned fruit salad. The self-catering equipment is sparse but just about adequate. We left this de-stressing, zoned-out place...

Baia de Barca is expensive compared to Pico standards but well worth the price. The appartment was very comfortable and we had a lot of space. Everything was neat and functional, although the furniture seems a bit outdated. The swimming pool area was great, with its transats overlooking the ocean. Just lying there lustening to the sound of the waves...

This place is in a fabulous location right on the coast with amazing views. BUT it is effectively closed in April when we visited. Our room was cold and musty. The heating (which was an air conditioning unit with a heater function) did not work and when we decided to get a drink at the (so called) bar we were...

Management response:

As manager of Baía da Barca I assure that all our units are checked before guests arrive and this particular unit that Mr. Jonathan stayed was checked before, during and after his stay, the real motive of this review its because he wanted an upgrade offer and he doesn't get it. The day he arrives with his family it was...

Right on the coast on a very windy day the spray came right to our window. Excellent self catering apartment with stylish decoration. Good pool and jacuzzi. Satisfactory breakfast. A little soulless as little contact with staff or owners. We would stay again preferably in calmer weather

Good-sized and quiet flat, at a short walking distance from the village centre. Big bathroom, and amazing ocean views, (provided you book an ocean side flat). There are small 'pic-nic' tables if your flat does not overlook the ocean, though. Clean swimming pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. However, and this is the only negative thing I can point out...

We very much enjoyed staying at the apartments Baia da Barca at Barca nearby Madalena, Pico. We were with two adults and two children , aged 14 and 16, and the apartment was very spacious and clean. The view was superb, our terrace had frontal sea view. The service was great, and also the breakfast was excellent. Because we wanted...

We've staid in six different places during our travels in the Azores and this was by far our favorite hotel. It is located just outside of Madalena, and the view is absolutely fantastic. It's a fairly small apartment style resort, our flat was ocean view from the main entrance/living room while the kitchen was facing mount Pico. On a clear...

Stayed in Madalena mainly to do some diving and whale watching. Madalena is not the most interesting town but the water experiences are very good. Baia da Barca is a new apartment hotel that have some very large and modern apartments. Ground floor is a larger living room with couches and tv. A fully equipped kitchen is integrated. Second floor...

A day or a couple of days trip from the island of Faial. Take the boat, rent a car at arrival and go around the island. If you are really passionate for walking, find a organized tour to go up to the top of The Pico. Visit the vineyards, the museum and have a glass of red wine and take...

The hotel is in a peaceful location, right on the ocean. It's a 10 minute walk from town, or a very quick drive. We arrived from an early interisland flight, and they let us check in at that time. The apartment was very spacious, included a nice kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedroom. There was wifi for free. Breakfast was...
