Through Pagel, and its other location, Mas Sarrat, we aim to provide unique baby, toddler and child friendly holiday locations focussed on families and booked only to families with young children. Our ethos is to provide small familial safe places which allow your children to run free and play amongst nature, making friends and exploring their own imaginations, moving from one play zone to another, from play barn to pirate ship to the Indian village, and on. To create a magical place that allows families to spend time together, create memories that last a lifetime and to have fun and laughter!Children have all the toys, play equipment and imaginative play areas but there are also treats for Mummy and Daddy too. We offer a ‘Chef for the Night’ service, a weekly BBQ, massages, manicures and pedicures, mid stay cleans, welcome baskets, wine, adult seating areas, shaded areas with sofas near the pool, English speaking baby sitters and locally sourced homemade frozen meals.

What a magical time we had at Pagel! From the moment we walked into Goldilocks Cottage and our five year old met three absolutely huge teddy bears – Mummy, Daddy and Baby Bear, of course – and then found her own room styled perfectly for kids and filled with books and toys, we felt we were in for some kind of fairy tale holiday. And to be honest we weren’t disappointed. Pagel was really different to any other gite holidays we’ve had and a big reason was the fact that even with an extremely lively five year old, we all had an enjoyable and relaxing time. As parents you get used to the idea that giving your child the best time means adult compromises but not at Pagel. They say child-friendly but it’s more. The place had such an atmosphere and there was so much to do, indoors and out, plus other children to play with, plus the kids’ club, that we adults could genuinely unwind and enjoy ourselves too. The weather didn’t start great. We arrived on a showery, chilly day which lasted into the middle of our week, so we didn’t sample the pool for a few days, though when we did, it was lovely and warm (as was Goldilocks on the chilly days) and we had hours of fun, helped by the pool toys in the toy chest. The weather also meant that our discovery of Pagel lasted days. Just when we thought we’d discovered everything, we found more. It started with the trampoline outside Goldilocks and then the huge pirate ship – more fairy tales for a Peter Pan fan – but later we found swings, climbing frames, another trampoline, playhouse (and rocket), a huge rope swing hanging from a tree … it seemed to go on forever. Our adult highlight was Chef for the Night – a name that doesn’t do the idea justice. Three courses (plus cheese) of fantastic food, served directly to our gite balcony, empties cleared away and nothing for us to do but enjoy. Like the best restaurant but no babysitter, no designated driver: just the stars of the Dordogne sky. Magic. We also really liked the way the manager of the gites was quietly on site for an hour or two every morning to check everything was ok, share local knowledge and offer advice on trips out. Thanks to Fiona, we discovered the wonderful quirky bread festival at the pretty Mas Sarrat, the big Cahors market and a fantastic day out for our junior tree-climber, parkour-style, at Cap Nature. All in all Pagel has jumped straight to the top of our favourite gites list and we’re already talking seriously about booking for next year.

We have spent 8 weeks travelling through Europe and this has been one of our highlights. They had everything we needed for our family. My daughter loved the kids club and the letting her be free to explore the area knowing it was safe was a perfect break for us.

We stayed at Pagel for a week this August and have already booked to go back next year! We stayed in Elephant Lodge, one of the 2 safari tents there and the children loved it! There were toys everywhere and a lovely thoughtful welcome gift. It’s such a wonderful place with lots of outdoor things for the children to do - pirate ships, climbing frames, trampolines and a lovely pool. Fiona and Sara who looked after us whilst we were there are amazing and helped with everything from doctors surgeries, restaurants and Sara even gave me a wonderful massage! We can’t wait to go back again next year and try one of the lovely gites! So see you soon Pagel!

We spent 2 lovely relaxing weeks at Pagel this summer, staying in Hippo safari lodge for the first week and Upper Wildwood Gite the second week. We were looking for somewhere where the boys (5 and 3) could have a bit of freedom, entertainment and we could relax and this ticked all the boxes. The site itself provides lots of different outdoor play equipment, a pirate ship, pool, tonnes of space to run around, a communal playbarn, and woods to explore if you're adventurous. The social aspect is perfect, both for kids and parents, with the BBQ on Monday providing opportunity for everyone to meet, without having to cook as well! The chef for the evening is also a great idea, and we loved the honesty bar - just perfect if you find yourself stuck for food. One thing we've never encountered before was the amazing selection of toys, with colouring books and pencils, soft toys, train tables, play kitchens, megablocks, dinosaurs, cars etc. all provided - you really can travel light! In terms of the accomodation itself we preferred the gite as it had a few more luxuries like a dishwasher, oven and bath, but it depends what you're after. The safari lodges did have a lot of bedroom space and were very scenic, being a little more tucked away, but still not far from the action. We loved sitting outside the tent in the early evening while the boys played. I think if we stayed again we'd try Lower Sunset to see if being downstairs meant it was less hot at night. Having said that, this wasn't a major issue as lots of fans are provided. We went on a few days out and had mixed success here! Cahors is ok for a few hours, but not as typically pretty as some of the Dordogne towns, we would definitely recommend the Cap Nature ropes courses - really good from age 3 up and situated in a forest so shaded if it's hot and sheltered if raining! We did travel to the caves at Gouffre de Padirac, but unfortunately having queued up for about an hour we found out the next entrance was at 8pm - this was at 1pm! We had to leave it and would recommend people to pre-book! Rocamadour is lovely, but extremely busy in August! Overall a very good holiday.

A lovely place to take your children on holiday. Children have freedom to run & play & parents can relax knowing they are safe. The weekly bbq organised by Pagel is a great way to meet the other families and is always full of tasty food and wine. There are lots of places to visit in the surrounding area or you can just relax by the pool. A great place for children & parents!! This was our third visit.
