We stayed at Casa Rural for 2 nights and I must say it was an interesting experience but one we would think twice before repeating. The island itself is great, with nice beaches and postcard-like turquoise waters, so I think it's a must see on your first trip to RD. Sara from

Our stay on the Saona Island was for sure the most memorable part of our journey through the Dominican Republic. This is the place where you can really experience what life in the Dominican Republic is like. It is not a resort so don´t expect golden fountains, marble floors or

Of our 12 fantastic days in the Dominican republic the one night at Casa Rural El Paraíso was the most memorable. I read the review of JStrip_77 and totally agree with it all! Basic but clean accomodation, typical dominican food which tasted great, gorgeous pristine beach, lots

Rooms are modest and shower provides cool and salty water. The hotel provides breakfast and lunch & dinner are with extra charge. Food was good, simple and local. We were disappointed that all the rooms did not have a view to the ocean nor own terrace. But the place itself is

Isla Saona is one of the few places in the eastern Dominican Republic where you can really experience what a rustic/rural Caribbean life can be. Having traveled a lot in this country, I cannot tell you how awesome it was to not have to fight off the beach vendors, to not have to

Hello, I have my emails up to date so I guess it must have gone to my spam box!! Accommodation is in Mano Juan at Saona island and the boats leave from Bayahibe. There is a"public" service that leaves only once daily around 9am . Back from the island is around 2.30pm getting in Bayahibe around 4pm. Costs is $15 per person per way. Be aware as some people may try to sell you a tour to Saona and the island is quiete large. Not everybody goes to the same areas and if you take a tour you may end up have to get back with the tour as you will not be able to reach Mano Juan, the village of Mano Juan. If you are in Punta Cana a private transfer costs around $100 up to 2 people. Consider sleeping in Bayahibe. Try this email I am not able to post an email as trip advisor doesn't let me. Send me a private message if you have further queries

We offer the accommodation on full board basis as there are not really restaurants in that part of the island. Food is not allowed in the rooms as it will call for pests. We do have a fridge in the kitchen for our own food. You may keep something such as a yogurt or so, but there is no space for a guest shopping. You can hire a taxi boat which are small boats if you want within the day. Up to 5 pm usually. There is some signal in some points. Orange works in part of the village, but Claro just in specific spots. You can make a call with a prepaid card also but ask me about it before you buy it
