What to say about this hotel, actually it is horrible and dirty, the carpet is disgusting, you don't want to walk barefoot on this. Hot water only between 19.00 - 07.00. But when you want to visit Mount Everest and don't want to stay in the tented camp this is your only option. They also serve dinner, at least we... More

This hotel is typical of many in Tibet. On our travels we found that the Tibetan owned hotels were floundering in the light of restrictions on foreign travellers. As many they are not the cleanest or the warmest but Sakya is a lovely town worth visiting if en route to Everest Base Camp (however the Chinese government is going to... More

Yes, the place is freezing, and basic, and there is no hot water in the shower, and the rooms are smelly. But that's really common enough for that part of the world. The good thing about this place: It's very clean; there is a water kettle, for tea and to fill up the sink for a wash with warm water;... More

Sakya is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and its not a very developed town so considering this, the standard of the hotel was much higher than I had expected. The Sakya Hotel is located a 2 minute walk from the Monastery and theres a few small eateries around, but other than that the town has very little to... More

Pipes were frozen, had to pour water to flush the toilet. Entire hotel smelled like sewage. No toilet paper or soap. Only way to wash yourself was from a thermos of hot water in the subzero room. Room and restaurant were both so cold we had to wear full hiking gear, hats, mittens, parkas, sleeping bags to eat and all... More

The hotel was reasonably comfortable and clean. Not many choices in this town. It is very close to the monastery (about 1 block away) and half a block to the main street of the town . The food at the hotel was good, and had western food in addition to Tibetan and Chinese.
