We stayed here towards the end of our trip round Tibet where we struggled to find hot water so we were delighted that it was in plentiful supply here. As with most of these huge Chinese hotels, they have a bland business/ conference look to them and things have obviously improved since the previous reviews were written. We found the hotel to be both clean and functional. Although there was no room heater, there were electric blankets so the bed was nice and warm. The only thing stopping me awarding 4* was the fact that the wifi was so slow as to be unusable.

Our travel agency booked us here since it was on the way from Samye to the Gongkar airport. The hotel has a grandiose entrance and lobby, and everything goes south from there. There seems to have been no maintenance done at all - the elevator and some of the lights were not working. The bellhop, dressed in military fatigues, helped us carry up our luggage. The first room we got had no hot water, and after the staff pretended not to understand our problem, we were told several things by the staff to make this work - including leaving the faucet open for 30 minutes. Finally, they moved us to another room. The hotel restaurant has a minimalist breakfast - including boiled eggs, momos and instant coffee. The staff brought coffee mate and a bent spoon which was caked with dried coffee. The minibar includes some men's and women's underwear in boxes - that had been obviously opened and shut many times. It felt odd to see these boxes of possibly dirty underwear in the mini bar. The location: the hotel is located on the other side of the canal/river from the main drag, and to walk to the main street in town, you have to use the poorly lit road which has a lot of construction going on (with open holes and protruding metal rods) I recommend avoiding this hotel, and if possible - this town.…

Dirty, dingy, and poor service. This is a medium/large hotel that was obviously built to be quite nice, but is now left in the hands of a bunch of eager and well-meaning, but completely incapable, teenagers to run. Our room was very large, but full of problems. We had no hot water. After we reported this, they wanted us to use the bathroom in another room. The water we did have smelled very strongly metallic. The pro-forma water heater for making tea had a thick residue. There were leftover condoms in the bathroom from a previous guest and used bathrobes in a lump on the floor of the closet. The floors were filthy. We asked them to come up and vacuum. They were very responsive, but the only vacuum cleaner they had was a beat up old shop vac with a wand attachment. They obviously are not in the habit of cleaning the floors between guests. Also, the elevator was out of service and they do not have a business center with internet service, as advertised.…

Our tour group was supposed to stay at Tsedang Hotel, but somehow, ended up at the Snow Pigeon Hotel. The carpets were filthy, the towels were ragged. Rooms and hallways were very cold! Heat was turned on for only 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening. We were freezing! We asked for a wake up call, but no one received a call. Breakfast was disappointing.....greasy, lukewarm food. . We huddled around a heater in the breakfast room trying to get warm. Dinner was OK - We ate 1 night in the "tent" room. Food was OK. Internet service not available. No hot water in the showers.
