We spent 3 days in Domaine de Fontenille and it was amazing. The location is perfect, in the middle of vineyards, the hotel is very nice, comfy and greatly decorated with a huge and beautiful garden. The staff is very welcoming and available. Highly recommend for a nice couple vacation.
This was our 3rd stay (first time with our son) and we had a fantastic time. Staff is now more experienced, better trained etc, making the whole experience very 5* like (which was not yet the case first time we went 2 years ago) 2 things could be improved, still, I think: - the gym: basically a big empty depressing room with 2-3 machines left there to die - the michelin-starred restaurant: service is too slow (for my taste), even when you go for a la carte For families travelling with young children: I strongly recommend the “Appartement” room: best of both worlds, combining the advantages of a spacious holiday rental with private outdoor area and kitchen with the service and amenities of a great hotel. Special thanks also to the hotel’s babysitter Madison, she was really great with our son. …
Bizarrely the air conditioning in this room is connected to the extractor fan in the kitchen and so the room smells awful, like a deep fat fryer, feels dirty and very unhygienic. The bed moved around the floor when getting in or out, as it wasn’t secured properly. Lastly, the breakfast was very over priced, €25 for a basic selection self service buffet, an egg cooker with a single timer meant that people were queuing to use it, and after 8 minutes the egg wasn’t cooked, so it didn’t work anyway. Positives are friendly service, the design of the hotel and it’s location, but we wouldn’t stay again.
Director very attentive and servicial, I could not say the same qualities about the rest of the staff thou, specially the staff at the bistrot. For a 4* hotel that charges so much per night, I was expecting better quality in the service. Room and hotel surroundings are great.
Beautiful place with outstanding customer service. The quality of the rooms was fabulous. Actual real air conditioning that worked. They were exceptional with the baby amenities and service as well. The gardens were STUNNING. I can't wait to come back.
