I stayed at Palmari for 5 nights/ 4 days, and I absolutely recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the Amazon. Once I reached out to Palmari with my initial reservation request, everything from there on was completely seamless. For my stay at Palmari, I was assigned to an incredibly knowledgeable and helpful guide (shout out to Raul!), and I also was supported by three English-speaking volunteers. During my stay, I was able to participate in almost all of the activities that Palmari offers, although some highlights included overnighting in the jungle at the 'mud spa,' daily sightings of monkeys, and kayaking & swimming with dolphins nearby. One thing that I really like about Palmari is you can be as busy or relaxed as you want, and I was glad to be able to have time for also just reading a book on the hammocks and taking in the beautiful scenery. During my stay at Palmari, I chose to sleep in the hammocks - which I loved!! I found them very comfortable and relaxing, and it was great to also have a mosquito net for protection from insects at night. The shared bathrooms were also only a few meters away and kept very clean. I didn’t miss having a bed/mattress whatsoever. Lastly, I was SO impressed at how well the Palmari cooking staff accommodated my dietary restrictions. I am gluten free and pescatarian, and they prepared three delicious meals a day for me. They even had gluten free pasta on hand! If you also have specific food restrictions, Palmari will certainly be able to make it work.…
This is a really magical place. The nature is just beautiful and the lodge is really great - feels like you’re immersed in nature. The staff were really wonderful with me; friendly and accommodating. And the manager went above and beyond to ensure that my travel went smoothly. Thanks everyone!
The Palmari Lodge is such a special place to be. The communication with Axel prior to arrival was very nice and easygoing. Upon arrival to Leticia it was a 2.5h boat tour to Palmari.. the boat tour was already the best way to start my stay in the Amazon.. the views from the Lodge on the Amazon & River are simply breathtaking and you instantly feel connected to nature. At Palmari my personal guide was Soko and Yesica was a volunteer assigned to me to translate from Spanish to English.. this was an amazing service provided.. my most incredible experience was 1 night of camping out in the Amazon 1.5h away from the Lodge. We stayed close to a lake, barbecued chicken on a fire, watched the stars and slept in hammocks during night time. There was so many moments that made Palmari the absolute best place to stay. Soko’s knowledge of plants and animals and the sounds they make was incredible. Yesica was so amazing in translating and looking out for me :) all the staff and volunteers at Palmari were SO kind and helpful! I could make an endless list of all the things I loved about my time and can just really recommend staying at the Lodge and having such a personal experience in the Amazon! I will for sure be back!! Thank you Palmari!!!!!…
Stayed here for four nights. Definitely the most outstanding, most beautiful, happiest, important days during my seven weeks in Colombia! Loved the people - the owner has some incredible stories to share - the atmosphere, the absolute beauty of the place, the food, the Caipirinhas, the activities, the views, the guides and volunteers - there is no single thing I would want to complain about. Thank you so much for this memorable experience!
It was the most amazing experience you could even imagine. From the beginning to the end everything was just perfect. Since everything was organized really well we could just lay back and enjoy the incredible fact that we were in the Amazonas. The lodge itself is beautiful and has the perfect spot right next to the river where you could see incredible sunsets. Even though the food, the lodge, the scenery was more than perfect the most outstanding for us where the people. The owner (Axel) is a really cool and funny guy, has incredible stories to tell and is just so giving and helping. Also the volunteer (Sergio) was an amazing person to meet. Since our Spanish was really bad the he translated us everything what the guide said and helped us everywhere he could. The guide (Enrico) knew everything you could ask about the nature and was super friendly. A review cant describe how perfect and wonderful everything was and we wish we could´ve stayed for ever. Thank you for everything!…
For the adventurous traveler, staying at the Palmari Lodge is an absolute 10/10 experience. We stayed 4 nights/5 days in their "service package C" and I could have easily spent more time there. All we had to do was get to Leticia airport and Palmari handled the rest. We were met by a local rep at the airport in Leticia, they coordinated our transport to the river docks and our boat ride (~3hrs) to the lodge. When our trip ended, they coordinated all of our transport back to the airport as well. It couldn't have been smoother. Our private lodges were very basic and comfortable (private room with bathroom, running water, cold showers, clean mattress/sheets/towels, and well hung mosquito nets). The location is truly incredible. You are surrounded by the amazon jungle and hiking through it with one of their guides is an unforgettable experience. Our local guide (Jaze) was awesome. He allowed us to hike and explore in the jungle in a way that we would never be able to without him (I'm an experienced backpacker/hiker and without him, I would have been absolutely lost in all of 5 minutes... I also never would have seen the vast majority of the wildlife that he was able to point out). If you're really adventurous, I would highly recommend doing an overnight stay with the guide out in the jungle (it really comes alive at night!). We had excellent translators as well (Sergio and Mari) who were a blast to hang out with and really helped us to interact with the guides. The level of service here was top notch and their list of available activities will leave you with a ton of things to do. You could stay out here a month and never get bored. Also, the food was incredible. Their chef Marta whips up three delicious home cooked meals a day including multiple dishes and some absolutely delicious fresh juices. You will not go hungry. I could keep going on about how incredible this place is but it really is something you need to experience for yourself!…
My stay at Palmari couldn't have gone more smoothly or been more enjoyable. I contacted the manager last-minute and he went to considerable effort to make sure they would be able to accommodate my schedule. Coming from another lodge upriver, I was met at the Leticia dock by Palmari staff, who transferred me to their boat for the trip to their lodge. The return trip 4 days later, including delivery to the airport, went just as smoothly. The thorough orientation included description of the many and varied activities that they have available, developed to not only provide for an enjoyable stay but to increase your understanding and appreciation of the surrounding jungle. Palmari preserves an area that is more varied than most jungle and so provides opportunity to view a wider variety of wildlife. The long boat ride to get there was actually a very enjoyable part of my experience. The staff was very professional, competent, and friendly, including my own personal guide and translator who were available full-time during my entire stay. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the facilities were comfortable and well-designed. I would certainly recommend a visit to Palmari to anyone looking for an outstanding Amazon jungle experience…
We stayed for a total of 9 days and we can’t find the correct words to describe what an amazing place this is. From the people to the magic vibrations of the jungle this place has it all. It’s well-taken care off by the staff and the volunteers. There was not a single moment in which we felt unsatisfied with the activities, food and/or lodging. Since arriving in Leticia there was a Palmari representative waiting to answer all of our questions and make our experience a valuable one. When sharing our experience of Palmari, there is one obvious person who deserves a standing ovation for his dedication, passion and kindness: our guide, Ka. Always with a smile on his face, he guided us with the utmost expertise through the jungle for 2 days (la traversia highly recommended!!) teachings us how to recognize birds, respect the jungle, follow monkeys, find pink dolphins and making us love every moment of it. Ka was also willing to play a mean match of ping pong and share thoughts over a cold caipirinha!! To add, Maria is a terrific cook and also deserves a standing ovation!! From the beginning, we had clear communication with Palmari rep in Bogota which we highly appreciated since they took the time to provide us with a comprehensive briefing prior to our departure. Sandy answered all of our questions, gave us invaluable tips and tricks to survive the humidity and the creepy crawlers and made our trip the easiest to plan. In terms of lodging, everything is kept super clean and organized. Sometimes so much that you forget you're in the middle of the jungle. There is a wide range of activities to choose from, we did most of them and highly recommend la traversia (2-day trek through the jungle), kayaking, fishing, wakeboarding and bird watching with the excellent volunteer Gerome aka “pischo”. In terms of COVID preparedness, Palmari checks all the boxes and makes sure that the guests are briefed on all protocols. We encourage everyone to visit Palmari and experience it’s magic.
I really wanted to love it here, not only because it's eye-wateringly expensive but because the communication up to departure had been 10/10. Unfortunately the trip didn't live up to expectations. Firstly, when we arrived on site no one greeted us. It's apparent that there is no one there acting as a "manager/face of the place" for the site - it's made up of volunteers and guides (the people that take you out on your walks etc). We were dumped in the dining area and my partner had to go and actively seek someone to help us - where are room was, how things worked etc. They didn't tell us how we could access water or show us around the facilities. This place needs a permanent member of staff to take ownership over best practice for the volunteers there. The activities were good, although kayaking was the most popular and they only had 3 working when we were there. When you're paying them £400 per night you'd figure they could invest in the facilities a bit more. The food/drinks was fine - it's marketed online as unlimited soft drinks/beer. This isn't true. Also, we were there for 5 nights and even though we requested new towels we never got them, totally gross. Look, no one goes to the amazon expecting luxury and you certainly don't get it here, but it's almost like the owners (who are nowhere to be seen) have no idea what's happening here and need better oversight to ensure better service to people who are paying a lot of money to be there.…
I had really unforgettable and excellent experience. Was overwhelmed by staff approach and kindness. They went not an extra mile but tens extra miles!! Despite the language barrier (I speak Polish and English and most of them Portuguese and Spanish) they were always on their toes to help. There were also very kind volunteers, speaking English, German, Polish and French. The place itself is situated in a wonderful and peaceful part of our Amazonia. With its natural beauty, which we explored together with our amazing, very skilled and knowledgeable guides. Food and accommodation were excellent too. And there is not even one thing I could think of as an space for improvement. If you want to be close to nature and are ready for adventures, this is the place for you to come. And the best news is that you can do it all year round!…
