Arriving by ferry from Mallaig, you can see the hotel as you pull into the harbour, a grand building in the traditional local style. The location was fantastic, as you hop off the ferry you barely take a couple of steps and you are there. Inside the hotel was warm and cozy, with lots of interesting artifacts from its historical... The Hotel itself is tired and would need a probably a non -commercial level of investment to restore it fully. There are other more modern hotels on South Uist which are likely to win out if one is looking for a more conventional hotel but this is a cheap and not uncomfortable option. The staff are both pleasant and willing... More

We booked a king size room overlooking the bay . The room was comfortable and well equipped with a gorgeous view . The hotel reserve conservatory tables for residents which again overlook the bay. The breakfasts were superb but we found the evening meals just standard bar meal fair. The hotel location is at the tip of South Uist and... More

Overlooking the harbour the hotel has a great location. But it has certainly seen better days. The rooms, however, are spacious and clean. Staff friendly. The restaurant concentrated on local produce which was fine as the fish was always good. But the portions were often quantity over quality.

As I needed to catch the 0700 ferry from Lochboisdale and was travelling by foot, my options were limited. The hotel provides basic ensuite accommodation. Meals are equally basic. But it does score on having friendly staff and proximity to the ferry terminal.

Stayed here for one night as part of our tour of the Islands. Friendly enough staff but the hotel is desperately needing updated. Our room was very spacious but the decor was horrendous. The curtains and bedspread were so tired and worn. There was an old fashioned blanket on the bed and no duvet. There was a real old stuffy... More

Really nice, friendly staff but the hotel clearly needs upgrading and the food was really disappointing. If you can't get good fish in the Hebrides then there's something wrong. A real shame as it's such a lovely spot.

We had to travel from Maillag on mainland Scotland to South Uist in the Outer Hebrides on a day when the only ferry arrived at 21.30. We booked into Lochboisdale Hotel just for one night as it was at the ferry terminal. The first surprise was when a group of bagpipers and drummers in fantastic highland dress played as the... More

On the last day of our holidays we decided to pop in past the hotel for a quick drink. We went into lounge bar and found it to be very dark and dingy and in need of a definite upgrade. It felt as grubby as it looked. It is the worst lounge bar we have ever been in!!
