This pub is definitely worth seeking out if you are a fan of pubs with a difference: quirky, homely, real ales, Belgian beers and want to know more about the beers you are drinking. We were lucky to be staying nearby and able to visit on an afternoon when Martin opens this fine establishment. Frequented by those in the knowledge,...

We did read the previous reviews and decided to take a cab from Newmarket to try the real ales..the pub does have have a short opening hours in the winter but was worth the effort to taste them. We were welcomed by friendly staff and made to feel like a family member of old... Loads of real ales to taste...

If you are looking for wide screen tv, pool table and juke box then give this one a miss. The Reindeer is a one-off, friendly village pub with a huge selection of bottled beers, in addition to the Landlord's own Pitfield and guest cask ales, and for cider drinkers there's Pickled Pig cider. A vast collection of pub memorabilia, antiques...

Real ale, 250 different bottled beers, and every wall covered in shelves containing breweriana and collectables all of which are for sale. It really has to been seen to be believed. Only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

A proper old school real ale pub which saved our lives on a baking July day. We walked out from Newmarket expecting that on a very warm Saturday afternoon there would be plenty of village pubs open. We were wrong. Having walked 15 km with everything closed until 17:00, we diverted to Saxon Street on the off chance that the...

This little gem is only opened on request during the week and always at weekend...

The Reindeer has recently changed hands. Eager to support local businesses and expecting a friend to stay we visited on a Sunday to find out whether they were open on a Monday night. We should have heeded the warning that the chef was on holiday. The new owner said he was doing the cooking and as he boasted that he...

Went for Sunday lunch today, after wanting somewhere in that area that does food and has a beer garden / play area for the children. Past reviews seemed positive so we booked a table. I am very disappointed to say that unfortunately it was one of the worst Sunday lunches we have ever had out, and we eat out frequently....

Just returned from taking our family for Sunday Lunch and was very disappointed at how poor the food was. We all had roast beef with vegetables, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding. The vegetables obviously came out of the freezer and they were all over cooked, as was the Yorkshire pudding. The beef as well was frozen and reheated and was...
