**DO NOT STAY HERE** This was suppose to be 1st year anniversary trip to celebrate but this resort almost turned it into a nightmare!! This trip was booked months in advance after seeing their beautiful property and room pictures online and their website. THE PICTURES WERE COMPLETE LIES THIS PROPERTY LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES!! I checked into this resort on 5/14/19 that was my first mistake!! We should have ran as soon as we pulled up to their supposed lobby that was very dark and gloomy!! A grudgy sketchy looking man and woman came out to greet us both were wearing dirty polo shirts with the resort name on them!! They made us take our suitcases out of the taxi and searched our luggage on the ground!! Not even inside!! Due to the recent attacks in Sri Lanka I understood the search but what I didnt understand was that there was NO SIGN OF SECURITY ON THE PROPERTY!! Once we completed the search we went into the "lobby" area and was seated in two very old chairs and told to fill out a form!! There were no computers no front desk just two dirty looking employees who wanted my personal information!! Once again we should've ran!! But I'm an optimist!! So once we finished the guy loaded our bags on a golf cart and drove us to our private villa with a private pool!! While driving I noticed I didn't see any other guests NOT ONE!! When we pulled up to our villa OMG IT LOOKED SO DIRTY AND OLD!! We walked down some stairs to get to the entrance of the villa and it got worse!! The room had smell that I can't even describe it was horrible!! The bathroom was old and also smelled I wouldn't bath an animal in there I didnt want to touch anything in there!! They attempted to put Rose's on our bed that spelled0 out happy anniversary!! That would've been a nice gesture if there wasn't dead flies on my bed!! The room was very old NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES!! The pool area to the villa was DIRTY AND LOOKED LIKE IT HADN'T BEEN CLEANED IN A MONTH!! The patio furniture near pool was was old and dirty!! There was no TV in the main area of the villa you had to leave your room go outside next door to the "TV ROOM"!! Me and my wife were standing there in complete shock!! The dirty looking employee (he was actually ok to talk to) handed us a key to the villa but the lock was old and definitely wasnt secure!! I asked the man how many other guests it were he said its ONLY YOU AND ONE OTHER GUEST!! In that moment I was done!! He asked me was I happy I absolutely not!! I got on the phone with my travel agent and informed her about the conditions of the resort and how unsafe we felt!! There was no way we could stay not even one night there!! I felt like if we would've went to sleep we could've been robbed it was so shady!! Our travel agent saw the pictures and immediately started looking for other accommodations for us!! Because it was getting late the search was frantic because there was no way we could stay there!! With in the hour from check in we found a different resort and the taxi was on their way to get us!! I informed the "Front Desk" that due to the resort my villa and safety issues we are checking out immediately!! That lady said she understood!! So did the man!! I asked about a refund and the lady informed me it would go back on my credit card!! Once home I received an email from COCOON RESORT STATING THEY WILL NOT REFUND ME BECAUSE I CHECKED OUT BEFORE A RESOLUTION COULD BE FOUND!! What resolution? It was dirty the employees looked like they were setting us up WE DIDN'T FEEL SAFE NO CHANGE OF ROOM COULD'VE HELPED!! Oh we were also told the food selections were limited due lack of guests!! This was the worst experience of my life!! We were there for maybe an hour and COCOON RESORT WILL NOT REFUND OUR MONEY!! DO NOT STAY HERE!! I HAVE PICTURES!!…
This fake resort is a complete ripoff and is falsely advertised. Property is deserted, unkempt and in the middle of nowhere. I booked my clients there for their honeymoon and they felt duped! $3,291 down the drain! The bathroom was disgusting, the fridge was full of mold, the private pool was dirty, there were only 2 guests on the entire resort! No front desk, no nothing!!! They refuse to reimburse. They didn't stay even one night. Please don't throw your hard earned money in the trash by staying here.
I stayed in this resort on Apr 11, 2019 through booking.com. my original booking was for 7 nights. When we arrived the place was deserted, I found a frog inside the room, spiders under the bed and in the windows, ants in the bedsheets. There was a monastery nearby and conducted a sermon through megaphones till 11pm. I canceled my stay the next morning and asked for a refund since the place was not fit for human stay and they refused. I didn't bother with the breakfast next morning.
1.Buffet was crap. Set menu with old food which tasted stale and salty etc. Today spagetty was sticky like gum.there was basically nothing to eat. 2.room aircon was broken, no hot water in rooms. When complained they gave a key of another room to use washroom. 3.service was ok. 4.understaffed and helpless. money gone to waste. Will not go there again even if it was given for free.
We reached the resort to find it really empty. Did not find any other guests there which was a little discerning. The property itself is good but seemed to be run by very few staff. We checked into our rooms for the night which were pretty good. We were promised a buffet and all we got was set food plan which you either get to eat or you don't eat anything as there was no other choice. The kitchen staff was sooooooooo understaffed. There's only one chef in the kitchen and one other staff to serve. They took a long time to serve our meals. Half of the group gets the food and the other half is made to wait for a very long time. The hotel itself is quite far from the beach or any other convenient eating place or grocery store. We had to go to bentota. The wifi in the rooms was intermittent. All in all i wouldn't opt to stay there again.…
We booked for 8 days to finish off our Sri-Lanka tour. Hotel staff were friendly and did their best to accommodate. Special mention to Sajeewani at reception. Nothing was too much for her. The bar staff Rohan and Luxman gave us great service. Also Hana in the pool area had the pool crystal clear every day and the sun beds as we needed. Great guy for local information also. Ask him where to buy spices.
Long story short. - Booked accomodation last minute via booking.com - arrived at 8:30pm and planned to check out at 11am in the following day. 14 .5 hrs stay. - Main reason for choosing cocoon was that the room came with a jacuzzi, and after completing a hike upto Adams peak and driving 6 hrs to bentota figured it would be the perfect end to a very long and tiring day. - Main issue was , the jacuzzi had approx 30-40 large red ants coming out of the jacuzzi nozzle as the tub was halfway full. - Duty manager informed and had the ants removed by 10:30pm (2 hrs later),in the process managed to damage the plug and said he could have it fixed soon. I figured this would take another 15-30 min informed him not to worry about it, that it had been a long day and it was now too late. I was disappointed, but would have a shower and hit the sac, however did mention that he should have a think about how we would be reimbursed for the issue. - Other issues, 1) internet not working and took the better part of one hour to be fixed. 2) stains on bed sheets. 3) my breakfast fruit had a small ant in the banana and mango. - Room was booked at approx USD 104 or SLR 18,000 - Upon check out another manager on duty was informed about our disappointment and we said that we do not believe we should be paying full price due to the main purpose of our stay not being met. - We were told that no discount would be possible as it was already booked via booking.com and that the discount would come out of the staffs salaries, that the manager said he could fix the jacuzzi for me( even though I said it as way to late for me to be using it) and lastly because it wasn’t their fault. - After expressing our extreme dissatisfaction and reiterating the take to several managers , we ended up paining full price. Positives - very friendly staff and large rooms. Negatives - tired property, poor upper management , ANTS , mosquitoes, zero empathy for customers. I strongly suggest over looking cocoon and stay else where. Barry …
This is a very eco friendly hotel with lot of space in the rooms. Great service we received from the security officer to the hotel staff. Very friendly and the food is excellent. Lovely location for Honeymoon couples too.
Centrally located at induruwa this resort is a massive place. Reception area and the restaurant is located in an huge bungalow, the large garden is very well maintained with lots of flora and trees. The villas are tastefully done and are large in size. Food is tasty and the Indian dishes are particularly delicious. Service is excellent. They have a pool and an indoor pool.
The place is a sorry excuse for 5 star. It has passed it's glory days before long. We booked a villa with private pool. Accommodation was nice, pool was fantastic but the place was unkempt and run down.Food was average with limited options. Breakfast was good. We ordered sea food treasure or something like that on our last dinner and it was terrible, don't ever order it. Stuffs were super friendly, they were trying their best to compensate for other shortcomings. It was our honeymoon and we were on high spirit, otherwise it would be a torture.
