We stayed here with a large group to attend my grandfather's funeral. The male manager was very difficult to work with and quite rude at times, acting as if we were putting him out. Rooms were damp (literally dripping from the ceiling in the bathroom of one room), the electrical power sockets were dodgy and the fuses kept blowing. The bathroom door didn't close in our room. Bed was warm and comfy and there were tea and coffee supplies in the room - when we could manage to get the kettle to boil with the power sockets. There was continental breakfast included which had a good variety. WiFi didn't reach our room which was quite frustrating as there is no cell reception. Unfortunately because of the grumpy male manager, we didn't feel able to raise any issues at the time. I probably wouldn't recommend staying there. Pub food was, however, delicious. So if you want to risk dealing with the rude man, could be worth it for the feed.…
I don't mind old but this was old , dirty & unkempt. Our room was not clean & eekkk - the toilet had a pubic hair on the seat & had a poo mark inside the bowl. The food was very plain & not seasoned - the lamb shank & mash was exactly that - a cooked lamb shank with bland mash & no gravy/sauce/seasoning. Good points - the receptionist was polite & the beer cold. Stay elsewhere!
Very average meal, I had the peppered squid and chips, my husband had fish and chips. The fish and chips were lovely, crispy batter and perfect chips. I expected lightly sautéed squid, not deep fried heavily battered bullets... On the positive, service was friendly and efficient.
Booked in at 2pm but no one was there. Winter hours now from 3pm.Were given a sunny upstairs room - owner put a heater in to warm the room. The Hotel was very cold inside & virtually deserted. The current business owners want to renovate this run down building. Had a meal in the bar at night as dining room not open. Meal was ok. The room was very dated - even the old bottle opener in the bathroom of years gone by! TV so small - hard to see it. Breakfast room very cold & uninviting. Breakfast was very poor - not even water to make a cup of tea. Cooked breakfast - no choice & most was toast & hash browns.Very disappointed from what it used to be.
The owners and staff here are just incredible! They are friendly, helpful, and very reasonable. The rooms are clean, quiet and tidy. The service is wonderful. The best place to stay in region by a mile.
i quite enjoyed staying here. very old and dated. Needs aircon or fans in rooms during very hot weather. it was stifling hot. good buffet food served in a separate dining room for a large group of us on a bus tour. the Manageress had even made diabetic food for me and gluten free for others. nice touch. enjoyed talking with the locals in the bar.
We got exactly what we paid for...... the room was sparkling clean and the food was good. The hospitality of the management was second to none. Even when they weren’t open they left keys out for us. Thanks Jodie for your hospitality.
Found this place on our way to Franz Josef Glacier and tried to build our tent but the weather did not support, thus we followed the receptionist advise to try a backpacker room. It doesnt have bed linen not even a pillow on the bed (we have warned by the staff before we check in). Room was not that clean, kitchen was small with limited kitchen equipment, and narrow bathroom, but they have decent wifi, at least. Most of the time no reception in the town itself.
Had a 21st Birthday here in the lounge bar, about 80 guests and the staff and the pub were absolutely amazing would 100% recommend. Jodie and all the staff really looked after us and gave all our guest discounted rooms in the motel with a great drinks package for our function. The rooms were clean and tidy and beds comfortable. Really enjoyed our weekend a nice country pub with nice people.
We found this place by chance and we were so pleased we did. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel very welcome. We were warned that the facilities were tired but assured they were clean. With easy hook up for our camper van we soon made our way to the bar and enjoyed drinks and a game of pool. We ordered food and all of us enjoyed our meals particularly the steak which was locally sourced
