The location of this hotel is in a quiet, rural part of Transylvania which is good for walking and cycling. As others have said the original building is a Manor House on a surprisingly busy local road but there are quieter rooms in a newer building at the rear where the spa and restaurant are located. The menu is very limited and the food basic. Service in the restaurant was erratic though this may have been due to language difficulties. As someone else has said it would have been good to have been able to order just a glass of wine or snacks during the day. The hotel has potential but still has a long way to go.

We stayed in one of the rooms in the additional building behind the castle. We did not know when we made the reservations that there were two separate buildings and were a bit dissapointed we didn’t get the chance to see inside the actual castle at all. Make sure to check this when you choose your room. The advantage was that we had the cellar spa right next to us and also the restaurant. Moreover this was the more quiet area as one side of the castle’s main building is oriented towards the main road. Strongly recommend the cellar spa especially earlier in the day when high chances are that you will enjoy it all by yourself. Very nice staff, helped us with reservations to visit the nearby Varghis twin castle. They do an excellent job promoting tourism in the area, meeting local craftsmen and they seem to be the engine that can transform the area into a great tourist attraction. A big plus was that you can charge all the expenses with the restaurant and spa on your room so you can have a cash free stay. The restaurant menu has only a few options but they should be enough for all tastes, vegan including. Too bad you can’t have a glass of wine, only the entire bottle. If only one of two drinks alcohol you can’t fully enjoy the delicious duck or veal which i strongly recommend. Too bad only one big tree was saved from the original castle garden but hopefully they will invest more in this area along the time so it can regain at least part of its original charm. A bit more shade would be needed especially in hot summer days. But trees take time to grow so it’s understandable. In the evening we couldn’t fully enjoy the garden as there was a private dinner with open fire and we were told we can’t stay there. A bit odd but the next morning after breakfast which was really good, we could fully enjoy the coffee under the big garden tree. Renovating this castle and converting in into a hotel is wonderful and it’s obvious that the owners are trying to offer quality services.

We stayed at ghe castel two days and one night, it was wonderful! The place is very nice, rooms are big and clear with unique furniture. Every room is different and comes with separate bathroom. The food is very delicious too, staff is very kind and friendly! The spa is small but for a short stay is very good for a relaxation. We will definitely come back here! You need to see this place it’s amazing:)

This is a really lovely place to stay.Comfortable rooms with great bathrooms and helpful staff. The spa costs additional money but is well worth it. Highly recommend this hotel. There are trips to see local wildlife that can be arranged through the hotel and it isn’t far from an interesting gorge. The staff went above and beyond

We spent a weekend here, however I think that's quite enough as there is isn't any much to do around the place. The yard/garden could be a bit improved, as I noticed there is plenty of space for that. The room was nice, comfortable, clean and the staff polite and friendly. The food - that was the highlight of the trip: it's just amazing. I was kind of worried that I won't like the fixed menu, but that was not the case. I actually ended up eating things I don't normally eat - and I actually enjoyed them. All in all, it was a nice experience but it's not really the type of place I would return too.

Dear Alexia, Thanks for your kind feedback. It's actually flattering we could offer a rather enjoyable stay for someone who's really after other types of experiences. Glad we could contribute to trying new things:) And yes, we're waiting for the spring to shape up the yard for pleasant summer evenings spent under the stars, with a glass of wine.
