I recently had the pleasure of staying at Manyara's Secret and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations in every aspect. From the moment I entered the grand lobby, I was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome that set the tone for the entire stay.

Very nice room with a pool and a stunning view. Outside dinner was romantic, food is excellent.

Manyara's Secret is a new Lodge, on the shore of Lake Manyara, close to Mto wa Mbu. Its location is ideal for guests visiting Tarangire & Lake Manyara National Parks & Ngorongoro Crater. You could easily make this your base, rather than moving to different accommodation every night. There is a perfect blend of luxury and home comfort. The service is outstanding - professional, thorough and responsive. From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel very welcome, and this continues until the moment you leave. Highlights for me include the design and furnishing of the villas, the team of people who live and work at the Lodge, the care and thought that has gone into its creation and its future and the food! Hands down, some of the best food I have eaten in Tanzania. I cannot wait to go back and would strongly advise you spend at least 2 nights here.

Dear Anna, Thank you very much Anna, for this nice review and your stay at Manyara’s Secret. It was our pleasure to have James and you. And indeed we shared a lot of background and information about the choices we made in designing the lodge. No detail is too small. And YES than it’s possible to construct a beautiful lodge with respect for Tanzanian materials, construction methods and local craftsmen. For us it’s not a question if you return to stay with us, but when. And in the meantime we will continue taking care of your guests and give them the best service possible. Stay safe and healthy, until we meet again. Many greetings from the Manyara’s Secret Team

We really lucked out being able to stay at this serene, luxurious lodge. when we originally booked our trip (pre COVID) Manyaras Secret was not available but due to some unexpected rearrangements, we were able to stay here for a night amidst our safari trip. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer! The staff welcomed us with a bottle of champagne and sweet note ( as we were traveling for our honeymoon) which we sipped while enjoying our personal plunge pool! This relaxing time was followed by use of the outdoor shower —what an experience to shower next to zebras wandering down the lakeside!! Then onto sharing stories with other guests and staff at the fire pit. The food was amazing — my favorite meal was the breakfast omelet the following morning accompanied by coffee, fresh bread and fruit. We will definitely be returning to stay here on future trips!

This place has absolute 5 star potential. I wish I could give it 5 stars. I will start with the positives:

The staff were extremely friendly and hospitable and there to answer your every request. The grounds and location/view is absolutely beautiful! We were hanging out by the pool and the lodge prepared us popcorn and some tasty appetizers. This was a nice touch. The main pool is very well maintained. The main reception area is beautifully designed and has a great ambience. The fireplace is great, however the cushions could use a cleaning. The food here was fantastic! Some of the best we had in Tanzania. Compliments to the chef! The breakfast a-la-carte was a nice change to traditional breakfast buffet with a lot of gourmet options.

Now on to the not so great that leaves more to be desired:

For context, we were in room 10. This is the furthest room from the lobby. We recorded ourselves at a regular walking pace and it took us 4 minutes to reach the main reception area. Folks with mobility issues take note. Second off, and notably the most major concern of ours was that the room did not have any wifi or cellular coverage combined with the lack of in-room phone or radio to contact the front desk for help. We felt that this lack of ability to communicate is reckless or dangerous should an emergency arise. While the rooms are nicely designed, they lack functionality. For instance, there is no A/C or no fan and Lake Manyara is HOT (even at night). We were so thankful we had packed our own fan. This is not ideal for hot sleepers. Secondly, there were no hooks in the shower area for towels. Another problem we had with the shower was that the drain was clogged resulting in water literally flooding our entire vanity/toilet/shower area and even seeping into the room next door.

Of important note*** the room is supplied with water that they claim to be filtered, however myself and my partner both experienced gastro issues after drinking this "filtered" water. We did not have this problem anywhere else. We then requested the bottled water moving forward and had no further issues. Another thing to be made aware of: the local Maasai tribe who lives close by has dogs that uncontrollably bark throughout the night which is not ideal for light sleepers.

All in all this lodge has the potential to be a luxury 5 star accommodation, however a few improvements need to be made to achieve that status.

Dear Laura, Thank you for taking the time for your extended review. We appreciate your review greatly. You bring some matters to our attention that we will address immediately. The villas typically have a phone in the room. Apparently, this is missing in villa 10. We will take care of that right away. The shower drain issue will also be resolved tomorrow. As for the WIFI, we are currently in discussions with a provider to make it possible. You've pointed out that the distance of Villa 10 might be a concern for less mobile guests. Some villas are very close to the main building. If guests indicate that they are less mobile, we can reserve these villas for them. Furthermore, we are delighted that you enjoyed the location, the service, and our cuisine. Once again, thank you for your feedback, as it helps us make Manyara's Secret an even more beautiful place. Warm Regards, Team Manyara's Secret

A stunning property that took our breathe away! Absolutely beautiful, and the attention to detail and workmanship is superior throughout. The understated elegance and aesthetic is so appealing, and incorporating beautiful photographs and local artisanal items for decor contributed to this being one of the loveliest properties we have visited.

First order of the day upon arrival after many hours in the Landcruiser was taking an outdoor shower with a view of Lake Manyara - what a treat (and great water pressure!). We enjoyed sundowners in the fire pit, and watched the sun set behind the mountains across the lake - a beautiful African night. We dined outdoors and both had great meals (the fish was fantastic!). And we did not want to get out of bed the next morning, even to go on safari!

The staff was superior – friendly, attentive, professional and kind – we felt like we had made new friends by the time we left. Shout out to Charles and Joseph for their kindness and extra attentive, yet relaxed, service.

We look forward to coming back as soon as possible!

Lake Manyara’s Secret really lives up to its name - a beautifully decorated, peaceful stay hidden away just next to Lake Manyara.

My husband and I stayed there for one night in Jan this year whilst on our honeymoon. We absolutely loved the main building and pool and our own room with its private plunge pool overlooking the lake. The main building even has a circular seating area with a fire pit in the middle from which you can have a drink and watch the sun setting over Lake Manyara - perfect! The service was great and the food was the best that we had on our safari trip, absolutely delicious and presented so nicely.

We would definitely recommend for anyone to stay here whilst visiting the surrounding national parks. Thanks to the team for making our stay so special!

Very nice place, quiet and clean. The negative rate is because of food: good but very small plate and don't buy wine. It cost double than in Europe and if you pay with credit card they charge you 5% more. The crazy price of the bottle probably don't permit them to pay also the cost of the transaction!!!

Dear Marco, You got it all served at the Baobab Terrace as room service, because you were exhausted from your trip to Lake Natron. It's good to hear you liked our food, but we're sorry it wasn't enough for your experience. Our guests can always ask for an extra portion, free of charge. Fortunately, you did. Our wines come from the best winery in Arusha. For our house wine we charge USD 6 per glass and USD 26 per bottle. Kind regards, Team Manyara's Secret

We stayed here for three nights and had absolutely no complaints. The hosts are very welcoming and cater to every request. The property is beautiful with a great view of the lake, the staff is very attentive to details, and the rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. The highlight was the food which was fantastic, with a new menu every day featuring fresh produce prepared to perfection. We would highly recommend this place to everyone, including families with young children.

What a true secret gem in Tanzania! The location is facing lake Manyara and very close to the Lake Manyara National Park where we saw lions in a tree at only a few meters from the car. The lunch and dinner made by the talented local team in the kitchen are the best so far in our trip in Tanzania, even better than the &Beyond. The interior designer has done a wonderful job, by being minimalist and yet use local carpenters and other craftsmanship from the village to make a true contemporary look in both rooms and the restaurant area. A place to visit again, hopefully.
