We stayed in the smaller suite and it was great. When we walked in, we were very impressed with how clean and well kept it was. They have everything you need including a small BBQ on the deck. It rained pretty much the entire time we were there so we didn’t get a chance to sit on the deck for any length of time, but when we did, we thoroughly enjoyed the view and listening to the waves right below us. The host was great, called us the day before we were to arrive to let us know about the suite and the island and places to see, she also text us on the day of arrival to ensure we arrived and were able to access the suite. The washroom was a fair size and had wonderful heated floors. We would definitely recommend staying here and will stay again the next time we are on the island…
Loved this great accommodation in Sointula. I stayed in the double room. It had a beautiful deck which got the sun all afternoon and was hard to leave! The mist rolls over the water in the morning, it’s so mystical to watch, then burns off by the afternoon. A little otter popped up on the beach below one day and at night there’s a lovely view of Port McNeill all lit up across the bay. Inside, the room was beautifully decorated and equipped and with the wood finish, felt like being on a (very nice) boat! The best part was when at full tide the water laps under the house which is on stilts. Pure Magic! The location between the town and marina is great and there are free bikes in town so I was able to ditch the car for my stay. Well worth taking the ferry over to Alert Bay too if you have time during your stay. It’s free and there’s a great First National museum there. Really loved my stay here - so comfortable, different and the hosts were really welcoming. I would love to go back some day. Top marks, and some!…
We recently rented one of the larger suites and it was perfect for a larger group - lots of comfortable places to sleep and also in a great location. We were also accommodated in terms of an early arrival. We will definitely stay here again if we go on a similar trip in the future!
First trip to Sointula and the Orca Lodge was a spectacular place to call home for the night. I took my mother over for Mother's day 2019 and we were thoroughly impressed. We arrived on a beautiful but extremely windy day! So after exploring the island by car we cozied up on the covered balcony and wined and dined while enjoying our waterfront view. Lynne the host is very friendly and just a text away if there are any issues. The unit was well equipped with any amenity you could think of and above and beyond what most Air BnB's contain. We watched cruise ships sail by in the evening and walked to the burger barn in the marina for a late lunch. The Lodge is easily biking distance from the ferry and town centre and would be a fabulous place to launch our kayaks if we brought them (watch the weather and winds though!). We would highly recommend the Orca Lodge and would stay again!…
Wonderful place to stay. View is incredible and very relaxing as you laze on the balcony. Hostess is like the friend you haven’t met yet, and all amenities are provided. We took our two dogs and they were just as happy as we were. Loved our walk to the lighthouse and meeting local people. Hope to be back one day!
This was my first visit to Sointula and I am so glad that I stayed at the Orca Lodge. I was in the Stand Alone Room for 5 days which was comfortable, quiet and well equipped. The location is perfect for watching birds parade by the deck, and for walking to Rough Bay, 'downtown' to the Coop(s), Coho Joes and the Upper Crust for nourishment. I would definitely recommend Orca Lodge. Lynne was very accommodating, quick to reply and had helpful suggestions. Participating in the Malcolm Island Bird Count was a fun bonus!
This fishing lodge exceeded our expectations! I can’t say enough about the Hostess, Lynn, so accommodating, professional and enthusiastic. The lodge is equipped well with everything imaginable and if you can’t find it, Lynn will find it somewhere on the island for you. And what breathtaking views from the deck, morning, day and night are amazing. The island life of Sointula is friendly and laidback- everything you imagine an island community would be. (Everyone waves at you 😊 just wave back you never know they might just stop and tell you their fishing honey hole). Beautiful walking trails around the island. And no bears or cougars 👍. I can’t wait to go back.
Another couple and ourselves stayed in the lower unit of this lodge. It is a 2 bedroom suite that had everything we needed. Literally everything. The views off the deck are beyond words. The place was clean, roomy and very comfortable with quality surroundings. Lynn was a fantastic host by being in constant contact prior to arrival to ensure we knew what to bring, etc. While we were there, she was also on the ready when we had questions. I would not hesitate to stay here again! Loved it.
Most bestest view in the world! :) The tide splashed against the deck, which faces northwest towards mountains and ocean and other islands, just beautiful! The property is flexibly expansive with anywhere from 1 to 15 persons, I think, being able to be accommodated...very impressive. We had 8 people and had tons of room with the two kitchens, three bathrooms with showers (lots of hotwater). My favorite thing were the heated tiled bathroom floor and the decks, huge decks!! This would be a great place to storm watch during the winter!! There was also fishing to enjoy, although we just missed halibut season, the captain gave us some dungeoness crabs to cook up too...the next day we went clamming and filled two buckets full of these delicious morsels!! Just ask the friendly locals where to go get'm. The town is small but very friendly...we went to karaoke on Saturday night and had a blast!! Very peaceful down to earth place to enjoy quiet or nature...I felt very relaxed on the way home.... Canadian Islander…
We loved staying here. It is a wonderful location, with a great view of the sound, the suite is very well equipped and Lynn is excellent to work with. And you're on magical Malcolm Island. The Orca whales are nearby!
