The Oceanfront Hotel is a beachfront, child and pet friendly hotel close to fabulous hiking trails, sports fishing, kayaking, beach combing and whale watching. We have 20 rooms altogether- 8 are beachfront rooms with balconies overlooking the ocean. Curl up in the afghans and deck chairs
and watch the boats go by. Our westerly view gives us some fabulous sunsets. Great photo opportunities are everywhere. Visit our museum and thrift store or bring your kayak and explore our beautiful beaches from the water. We have some very good artists and studios in town for your
shopping pleasure. You can find some of them here at www.malcolmisland.ca . The pub opens on the May long weekend and sells cold beer & wine also. As of June the pub is open everyday at 4:30. We have an ATM and free WiFi and cable TV.
Robyn and Ray are two of the most easygoing and personable hotel owners we've ever met. We arrived to Sointula prepared for a quiet, isolated two days but did not know that the grocery store co-op and its few restaurants do not open on certain days, and so we were left stuck for dinner on our one night stay. There was a gas station that sold frozen pizza etc and the hotel does have a great fully equipped kitchen for guests to use. But instead of just letting a pregnant woman eat junk food for dinner, Robyn immediately offered to have Ray cook us a 'simple' meal to get us through the night. She told us to go off, explore the island, call her on our way back and a meal would be ready for us for a small extra charge when we returned. We didn't expect that they would have prepared a private dining table in their closed restaurant for us, overlooking the beach, with a three course meal and drinks. Ray cooked the most beautiful salmon dinner and they left us alone for as long as we wanted to enjoy the sunset as we ate. Honestly, I panicked a little when I first thought we were stuck for dinner that night, but Robyn and Ray came to our rescue and made our stay so much more special. That kind of personal touch probably was easier for them to do that day because there were very few tourists on the island (off season and just before the coronavirus restrictions were put in place) but honestly I feel like they are just those kind of people. Our hotel room was also beautiful, a dog friendly super comfortable room with a balcony overlooking the water. And as for the island, we pretty much had it to ourselves and so it really felt like an escape to paradise. We drove every road and did some short hikes all in the one day. I cannot wait to go back again in the summer to hopefully catch a view of the whales on Bere Point beach.…
The Oceanfront hotel is rustic with basic amenities and the atmosphere is warm & welcoming. We had an oceanfront room which boasted 2 queen beds, small fridge, microwave, kettle & small coffee maker. The view is fantastic and while there is a pub attached to the hotel noise was not an issue. The hotel also has a shared kitchen with full stove/oven, full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven & toaster. Fully stocked with dishes, cutlery & cooking pots etc..... Robin, the owner was very accommodating. Highly recommend for a quiet getaway in a village where time seems to have stood still.
Spent one night in May. Friendly owner Robin helped us with many things. Oarganized me to meet a Finnish born lady. Had a nice discussion at coffee and pulla( Finnish sweet bun). The views from my balcony were great. No breakfast service. Big pub in the house. The building very interesting, designed by Robin' s husband. Lots of colors.
We spent a fortnight in the Oceanfronthotel. After a warm and friendly welcome we arrived in our cozy room with a wonderful seaview. The comfortable room was fitted with fridge and coffeemaker. The beds were very comfortable. After the first night we decided to spend our complete holyday in the Oceanfronthotel. Our friendly hosts advised us where to go, introduced us to interesting people and assisted us in every possible way. Friendly staff served us, every wish was immidiately realised. The Hotel is quiet, the Island is an ideal spot to hike, fish, observe whales shore based or just relax. We will certainly come again, thanks to the hosts and the whole team!
It was our pleasure being stranded in Sointula while staying in this quaint, eclectic and charming hotel. A 5-Star view, with a comfortable and functional room; a great value. We were forced to get aquatinted with the delightful little community of Sointula as we waited for replacement boat parts. Robin and Ray were our hosts and the hotel was a perfect temporary home. The hotel is within walking distance to the ferry dock, co-op grocery store or free loaner bikes. Our room had a kitchenette so, more than just toast in the morning, we could dine in for dinner when we wanted. The ONLY place to eat dinner in Sointula (June) was downstairs in their pub.
