Before I start I want to apologise for the lengthy review but it warrants it I think so stick with it …thanks. We were due to go on our holiday to the Maldives in 2020 so we were looking forward to our holiday with high expectations & our holiday n the island didn’t let us down in fact I can say hand on heart this was our best holiday ever & we have traveled a lot. We had taken 3 planes & 1 speed boat to get to the island getting our first look at the island made all the travelling well worth it. Our stay was 3 wks all inclusive we were really looking forward to relaxing in the sun ,we were met at the dock by welcoming friendly staff & was led to reception to book in this was done quickly n easily then off to our beach front villa. If you check out the resort online you can see pictures of the villas well the villa was even better than the pictures. The bathroom was a bit freaky to get use to with half under a roof n the other half open to the elements but was well set out it even had a Washing line very handy to have. The bed was lovely n big the sockets are uk 3 pin sockets which was very handy, plenty of channels on the tv but the best part of the villa is when you open the back door onto the decking & taking in the view My God what a view we had everyday .you walked out to your own part of the beach with your own sunbeds it was so hot .O I forgot the air con was amazing after the morning by the pool we looked forward to walking into our villa. The amenities in the villa was fantastic you had tea/coffee,you had nibbles, small bottles of red n white wine & several bottles of water, you had a mini bar in it you have bottles of coke ,a couple of bottles of beer ,a couple of bottles of fruit juice which was all part of the all inclusive package there was also chocolate & a selection of spirits which were not they are expensive so don’t be tempted. Our villa was cleaned every day & was spotless our cleaner was amazing if we needed more water it was there. Our last day we came back to our villa to find our bed was decorated with flowers n a couple of kissing swans WOW it was a lovely thought. Our villa was 134 & our villa attendant was RATHESH he was very friendly ,chatted with us & very good at his job he is one of the staff we interacted with every day who is a credit to the resort. During our time at the resort we spent the first part of the day round the swimming pool that area was always spotless there were towels in cabinets which you could help yourself to & put wet ones on top of the cabinets. The swimming pool was always nice n clean with no suntan scum on the surface which you see on some pools. The staff were always friendly n attentive never stood around doing nothing if they weren’t serving guests members of staff were cleaning fantastic to see. The waitresses we interacted with during our time there were such a credit to the resort.we were asked our names on the first day then after that we were called by our first names they also knew what we drank & bringing fresh drinks when needed before we even had to ask. The staff we interacted with were DITA,WINFI,SHASHI great members of staff. I forgot to mention that Wi-Fi was pretty much everywhere on the island. Restaurants: There are several restaurants on the island but we only went to the main restaurant but even though we could have gone to the À la cart restaurant for free because we were staying for 3 wks the main restaurant food was so delicious we felt no need to go anywhere else. For breakfast, lunch & dinner there was a large choice of dishes more than enough to satisfy your tastes ,during our stay we never saw any repeat dishes that some resort do we were well impressed plus they had ice cream….YES!!… All the staff in the restaurant were all so friendly & were always moving around checking on the displays or cleaning up any mess greeting us in the morning. The waiters we were served by every day were ZUBAIR & NASEER who always kept an eye out for us n made sure we had a table all set up for us they showed great professionalism, then there was KAVYA who greeted us at the door with a huge smile & a good morning or good evening she was so natural doing it. All the staff in the restaurant were so great I would also like to mention ZIGKMI who can really move that wok about & make some lovely stir fries then there is MADALANE she is a wizard with joints of beef ,madalane recently won an award for her work a huge congrats to her. All the staff at the resort from the maintenance people, the garden crew the staff in reception greeted us each day says a lot to us about the staff. Hints & tips If you buy anything on the island you don’t use money it is charged to your room so anything in the shop, top shelf drink, trips & dive trips anything that isn’t part of your package so keep a close check on your spending because you will have a shock when it comes to settling up at the end of your stay a big shock. If you smoke really make sure you get your fags or tobacco before you get on the island,a packet of fags in the shop is $18 which is £15 a packet. If you have a layover in DOA like us get your fags or tobacco there not at Heathrow in DOA they are ridiculously cheap. Trips.. I have to say if this will be your only time in the Maldives then you must do some trips snorkelling with mantas n turtles, dolphin safari & others but some of them are really expensive. If you are a diver then you have to dive the house reef before going out on the boat ,the house reef dive is $90 which is £74.38 a boat dive is $110 which is £89.69 that does not include hire charges on any gear . Sorry for being a long review but it had to be we loved our 3 wks there at the Royal island & spa it is an amazing place with fantastic staff, those I’ve mentioned in this review we interacted with daily they are a credit to the resort it was so peaceful for the majority of our stay thanks to them for making our holiday. What we didn’t like was very little but I do think the resort should have an age limit on the age of children why on earth would you bring babies to such a hot country & I know the resort has to make money the staff need jobs but it was disgusting to see so many Russians with their families having a great time when their countrymen are destroying the Ukraine & murdering women n children

My family stayed in Royal Island last month for five nights. We had a lot of very nice memories from this resort. This is a family-friendly resort. The staff were exceptional. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. Shout out to Chef Madeleine who was our toddler's favorite person in the whole resort, so kind and friendly. Shout out as well to the person taking cleaning our room - I think his name was Shaqallam - really helpful. Also Zighmy, Sunil (at our table), the ladies who greeted us every mealtime, and sorry to all the others whose names I forget. The guy cooking with the wok put on a spectacular show that I enjoyed. Everyone was great at handling requests. I was quite impressed with the buffet spread and happy about the all inclusive offer, which makes this place incredible value. There were Italian, Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese, Maldivian, Indian, etc. so after 5 nights there were still things I had not tried. We stayed at a beach villa, which was sparkling clean, spacious and comfortable, and right in front of the beach. The beach was so lovely, sand so fine, and the water so warm and shallow. Really beautiful. Lots of marine life so close to the shore - colorful fish, baby black tipped sharks, crabs. The only thing I disliked was the scheduling of flights. We were only informed of our flight schedules the day before flying in and out of the resort. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay and I would recommend this resort.

I just came back from this resort with my family. Facilities, customer service and the place made a wonderful vacation. I have been to other islands and I was amazingly surprised to find this resort wonderful. The food was incredible, so shut out to all kitchen personnel, specially Chef Mads Guinto which made us feel so comfortable and special. I definetly recommend Chef M Guinto to get the best of the best customer service combined with genuine and dedicated personality. Lots of love 💕 Lots of smiles 💕 too sweet ❤️💗 Careli California, USA

Our family has had so much fun vacationing here for many years and this year Chris and Paulina our activity directors made our experience even better. Their personalities are just so much fun. We really enjoyed all of the activities because of them.

Few downfalls it is highly expensive to drink spirits and beer way overpriced. There recreational activities is over priced you need a large wallet to have a good time there. Upside the food is well prepared and wide verity friendly staff and the resort is well kept and clean the living accommodation is very good and well set out.

I reserved this resort with some reluctance not knowing what to expect for the excellent All-Inclusive price I got! I planned a 4 night stay here and a 7 night stay at a 6-star resort nearby just in case this first choice turns out to be below my expectations. I am happy to say the resort was all I wanted an a bit more. This place is simply amazing with clean comfortable facilities, nice room (villa), beaches, restaurants and a 24-hour bar! I went through many of the reviews about this place and I must be honest here, for what I paid this place is more than amazing! I just do not understand what people were complaining about when what you pay here is %20 or less than what other “luxurious” resorts charge! Well, it is the same weather, same sands (crushed pure white corals), same sun (or rain as in our case 🥴), and the same greenery. The staff at the resort provide more than adequate service, it is more like “really good” service. The food at the buffet leaves much to wish for but it is edible and adequate and expected at the prices we paid. I have no complaints whatsoever, in fact I highly recommend this resort. Please visit this resort if you are looking for a reasonably priced great getaway in the Maldives, and it is suitable for children and families as well.

The sunset beach villa was the best option at the best side of the island! The beach was awesome! A couple of issues like the fact that during one afternoon the staff were putting down coconuts that were banging our rooftop without us being notified before was a bit disappointing. Also the ala carte restaurant was not up to our expectations regarding the environment, service and food. Management can do way better to justify the high prices! The spa ladies were very professional and the whole staff very friendly! Big variety of the buffet! Overall an awesome experience! Thank you!

We had the best time ever, we went at the end of February for 16 nights. Our villa was beautiful the scenery was beautiful and the staff were beautiful. Dieter in the bar was so attentive nothing was too much trouble. We went on a few trips and they were brilliant. The chef let us look round the kitchens they were gleaming. Best food we have ever tasted. Thank you everyone at Royal Island especially Dambe the beverage manager.
