Few downfalls it is highly expensive to drink spirits and beer way overpriced. There recreational activities is over priced you need a large wallet to have a good time there. Upside the food is well prepared and wide verity friendly staff and the resort is well kept and clean the living accommodation is very good and well set out.
I reserved this resort with some reluctance not knowing what to expect for the excellent All-Inclusive price I got! I planned a 4 night stay here and a 7 night stay at a 6-star resort nearby just in case this first choice turns out to be below my expectations. I am happy to say the resort was all I wanted an a bit more. This place is simply amazing with clean comfortable facilities, nice room (villa), beaches, restaurants and a 24-hour bar! I went through many of the reviews about this place and I must be honest here, for what I paid this place is more than amazing! I just do not understand what people were complaining about when what you pay here is %20 or less than what other “luxurious” resorts charge! Well, it is the same weather, same sands (crushed pure white corals), same sun (or rain as in our case 🥴), and the same greenery. The staff at the resort provide more than adequate service, it is more like “really good” service. The food at the buffet leaves much to wish for but it is edible and adequate and expected at the prices we paid. I have no complaints whatsoever, in fact I highly recommend this resort. Please visit this resort if you are looking for a reasonably priced great getaway in the Maldives, and it is suitable for children and families as well.…
The sunset beach villa was the best option at the best side of the island! The beach was awesome! A couple of issues like the fact that during one afternoon the staff were putting down coconuts that were banging our rooftop without us being notified before was a bit disappointing. Also the ala carte restaurant was not up to our expectations regarding the environment, service and food. Management can do way better to justify the high prices! The spa ladies were very professional and the whole staff very friendly! Big variety of the buffet! Overall an awesome experience! Thank you!
We had the best time ever, we went at the end of February for 16 nights. Our villa was beautiful the scenery was beautiful and the staff were beautiful. Dieter in the bar was so attentive nothing was too much trouble. We went on a few trips and they were brilliant. The chef let us look round the kitchens they were gleaming. Best food we have ever tasted. Thank you everyone at Royal Island especially Dambe the beverage manager.
If you are looking for a "REAL MALDIVES EXPERIENCE' that is romantic, quite, being lost in the nature, dreaming of going back recharged and energised, DO NOT PICK THIS HOTEL! I would like to start by saying all the STAFF ARE DOING A FANTASTIC JOB to make people happy, DESPITE THE INCAPABLE MANAGEMENT of Villa Hotels Team, that owns a few hotels in Maldives and clearly DO NOT UNDERSTAND what tourists are looking for, in the Maldives. Sadly there is a limit to what the staff can do to compensate, for all the bad choices that the hotel management has made, even if they are trying their best every second of the day. I feel truly bad for the staff, and for any future guests that will have to experience the same. The main issue is that the guests come here with the idea of Maldives being ROMANTIC, QUITE, IN THE NATURE, YOUR FEET ON THE SAND, WATCHING THE STARS... And the management has decided to completely destroy this idea of Maldives, trying to turn this hotel into a CHEAP EUROPEAN EXPERIENCE. It feels like it is designed for locals to live a foreign experience, not the other way around :) I will list the key things we saw, from a very long list we have after staying here only for 3 days, while being anxious about what the next 6 days will still bring... 1. You eat inside in a buffet that looks like it's from the 80s, all the time, which is very different than what any other Maldives hotel would offer. I am not sure why we came with a 16 hour trip all the way here, to eat indoors, a food that would be 10 times better at home in any restaurant, for this price. The added value of Maldives is to be outside, on the sand, or by the water, and they don't seem to understand this very basic logic and the wish of the tourists. But of course they can serve you the 'à la carte' menu with higher than Michelin star prices (sadly still very low quality), outside, if you really asked for it... 2. There is a band that sounds like cheap karaoke bar or a bad DJ or a random show, taking place every night, as of 8pm. Imagine you are in Maldives to listen to the sound of waves, watch the stars, and your experience is completely destroyed just because the hotel wanted to sell a few drinks, along with a loud DJ music. And the best part is... Not only they destroy the whole experience after 8pm with these cheap shows, they also allow the drummer etc. to practice during the day next to the pool, so they can make even more noise with bad sound quality and force everyone to move away from enjoying the quite, beautiful pool. 3. While trying to create this 'unwanted' European experience, surprisingly they LET PEOPLE SMOKE INDOORS, which is something Europe and everywhere else in the world has abandoned 20 years ago. So why not take at least 1 good thing from Europe when you took all the worst things from there? I guess they are really liking this game of 'how can we destroy the natural experience of Maldives' and seem to be proud of winning against the tourists. Assuming the management stepped outside of the island at least once in their life, I'm sure they've seen smoking indoors is an absolutely inacceptable behaviour everywhere in the world (in any case, prevented by the law) even in the bars/pubs/night clubs that people pop champagne and dance till 6am. But why not let some disrespectful people do it in the Maldives, when everyone else came here only to get poisoned, right? 4. Nothing is a 5 star experience. They have old facilities, incredibly close villas to each other that you hear everything, kids running around as they couldn't turn one part of the island adult only, and so many other things I don't even know where to start from. 2-3 stars at best, so don't expect a 5 star experience. Having said this, even a 2 star hotel that provides a 'real maldives experience' would be better than this. 5. Spa and other activity prices are outrageous. Prices are equivalent to a Four Seasons in Switzerland, for 1/10 of the quality of the service. If you offer 2-3 star quality, do not try to act as if you are Four Seasons Maldives, when it comes to spa or excursions... And make sure your staff doesn't answer by saying "of course even with buy 1 get 1 for free deal, we are still more expensive than your home country that has one of the highest GDP per capita on Earth, because you are in Maldives!" We were not even sure how to react to this even more outrageous answer... 6. To use their partner company for flights, they take you out of the island at 3pm (!!!!!) when you have a flight from Male at 12pm (!!!!!) - despite other companies having much later flights available in the evening. But why not let you wait at the airport for 6+ hours when you have been a great tourist paying for everything they've asked, after they poison you with cigarettes inside, to make you suffer a little more in order to get profit from their partnering charter flight company? Sounds very right.. Just do not forget to check the flights, digging online, as they tell you 'this is your only option' in emails and will never tell you there are other flights that they don't offer, which you could have booked directly. Very, very dishonest..... 7- Captain of the hotel's boat is so disrespectful to the nature and the experience of the guests. They act as if it is their own resort. It is incredibly dangerous to go that fast within 300m to the coast, given everyone is here to do snorkelling. Then it also creates waves and noise, hence destroys the calm nature of the water, which is why people fly here with a 16 hours flight, in the first place... So the boat becomes a total self-destroying tool as they can't even tell the captain to 'be careful not to hurt anyone or destroy the calmness of the sea when you are close to the shore'... As you can see, our stay is unfortunately destroyed and I am sure nothing will change before we leave, however THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL ISLAND THAT HAS WONDERFUL STAFF ON IT, so I hope this somehow helps the management to improve the stay for their guests in the future (and, make more money, so it is a win-win). I don't want anyone to spend 10 days of their time and money to live an experience that is as bad as ours, and I hope someone, someday, will take action to turn this into a real experience, after reading my comment... Note to management: Very good reviews you have on booking / tripadvisor are ONLY THANKS TO YOUR STAFF. They tried to compensate for every single thing and tried to make us happy all the time, so you still get a high rating. Make sure you pay them good bonuses and just walk into the resort, ask your guests for some real opinion, if you want people to come back. Every single guest I see around me is looking constantly stressed, and it is a shame that the management is not even around to see it. Your island is beautiful and your only job should be not to destroy it.…
We had an absolutely idyllic break here. We chose to go all inclusive. We were not disappointed. Our rooms were clean and comfortable with all the necessary mod cons. Snacks and drinks in the room were good (my kids never used up their quota!) Food in the main dining area was delicious and there was a lot of choice daily. We were given a complimentary ‘sunset fishing trip’ which we all enjoyed very much - the staff were kind and patient. We were also allowed to dine in the ‘a la carte’ restaurant one evening as part of our package. It was lovely and has the most beautiful setting. Only negative - we were not warned beforehand that we would have to pay for our drinks additionally. My husband was able to do his PADI course whilst we were there - he was really impressed at how well the course was instructed and dives facilitated to allow for health and safety needs. Our room was very near to the main dining area and we were initially concerned about noise - we needn’t have worried and were not bothered at all. We were keen to snorkel and use the kayaks - the water sports centre gave us equipment for snorkelling for the entirety of our stay. We would absolutely recommend this island for families.…
We just stayed for the third time in Royal Island Resort: green and lush place, beach villas nice and clean, reef close to the beach, waiters and cleaning guys very friendly, good food. However, we were so disappointed about some behaviors of the staff. I sent an email asking for the same room (212) assigned to us like in the past and the reply was that to get it i had to pay 50 usd a day because the villas in that area now were upgraded (not true) At the end, we got a beach villa close the 212 wirhout upgrade… Before check out, having to wait 3 hrs to take the boat to the airport, we asked a late check out or to have another room to avoid to spend too much time outside in the heat: at first, the receptionist wanted to make us pay 50 usd for a garden room; at my request to speak with the manager, we got the room free of charge…. Im really very sorry to see so litte regard for the client……
Thank you all! We spent 10 very beautiful days on this special island. The food is excellent, the staff are very friendly, room service is very good, thank you to Ali in the restaurant and Muneesh for room service. You will see us again.
It was a great stay at Royal island resort. Very kind staff. Very delicious food and excellent view. The only thing that it has not considered in the Royal resort was a place for taking care of little children. We enjoyed a lot . I recommend to visit it.
This island and the services brought by the resort are amazing. The snorkeling is amazing, Many activities are organized by the island. we were able to swim with Manta, turtles, Dolphins. The island is very well maintained with many sport facilities. Special thanks to Muneesh who helped us a lot and was always there to make our holidays perfect. The vegetation is stunning and even if we are on the resort we keep the feeling to be on a wild island. The room was perfectly clean and the buffet for the food was very rich. We recommend strongly! Kind regards, Judit&Emmanuel
