Okay, so here goes....this resort is a bit of a mixed bag. We enjoy the traditional Maldivian resorts that than those 5* Luxe resorts, hence our choice of this island. I will list my comments otherwise it may turn into a book! Our plane was late by over 2 hours but the airport rep for Eriyadu had arranged for the speedboat to come back for us....lovely guy. He also met us on return to the airport. Check In - received a cold towel and drink but wasn't given much information about the resort and some of it we couldn't understand - we were given opening times for everything and massage vouchers. Our room was 218 and it was a little tired, but large, new clean bathroom and room cleaned daily, so no probs. Room looked straight onto the Indian Ocean with a terrace and 2 loungers. There was a fridge, water and a kettle with unlimited supplies of coffee and tea. Free beach towels were supplied every other day (initially we got them every day, but then it changed) but some were so thin and had lots of holes in them, they would have been in the bin at home. Initially on AI board but upgraded to Platinum. No one seemed to know the cost of upgrade so had to go back 2 days running for someone to ask Management. Part of the upgrade was Platinum was a mini bar in your room, but we had to request this 3 times over a 10 hour period before it turned up. We requested a laundry bag that no one seemed to understand what we were requesting. Once we had sent our laundry to be washed we then had to chase its return on both occasions we used it. Btw laundry is free with Platinum, some people say they got theirs free on basic AI too! I came home with a suitcase full on clean clothes ready to hang up. No drinks were allowed on the beach, so you couldn't have a drink in a plastic glass or a can you had to drink your drink in the bar....shame when we had such a lovely view of the ocean. We weren't allowed to use the beach bar unless we paid for drinks - new management decision made couple of weeks before we arrived so earlier reviews about this bar are incorrect. So the resort had a bar man servicing the bar that no one used so he was on his phone all day! Premium AI gave you access to premium beers and drinks in the bar, but you could have a premium beer in the restaurant with your lunch/dinner but you could have spirits? Whose idea was this? Surely if you buy a premium drinks package it should cover the restaurant and bar?..... Our saviour was Enne at reception. She helped us no end and her English was good and she would sort things out straight away. We are normally people who never go to reception with queries, problems while on holiday but on this holiday we were there nearly every day. By contrast to the confusion that seemed to be across most services on the island when we went to the dive centre to hire some fins and also book a canoe, it was like stepping into a different world,,,,the guys knew their stuff and advised you... it was great. All the staff were lovely, and i always think it is a shame when the people doing the gardens etc don't feel they can speak to you, whether it is to say hello in their native language or in English. A big shout out to our room boy who looked after our room so well for us - unfortunately i didn't get his name, but he couldn't do enough to help us. Also a shout out to the guy who filled our mini bar. The restaurant had some lovely food, but most of the time the hot stuff was luke warm or cold. Once the restaurant was open the lids to the hot food were left open, which was a shame. The salads were also in open dishes and flies did sit in the bowls and also the sauces. We did have a meal in the bar and it was great to get hot food. It was just an utter shame that such lovely food was not kept warm in the restaurant. We were slightly alarmed one day when there was crashing on our roof and the guys were up the palm trees lopping off the dead branches and taking off some of the coconuts which were dropping right in front of our room. Maybe in future the rooms that were likely to be effected could be made aware for safety reasons. The reef was a little disappointing for us, comparing it to other islands we have been to with thriving reefs. On our very last night we went on the fishing trip. We have done a fishing trip before from another island and that one was a bit awkward when the crew of the boat were not getting on. Well it seems the awkwardness must happen on all fishing trips. The skipper of the boat directly told me off because i was putting fish on my hook, when nearly everyone else on the boat had done it. He also had an argument with one of the crew.......you could have cut the air with a knife. We were told we had to finish finishing and go back - we were all told to pack up, but a certain gentleman demanded he could carry on fishing, so they let him and we all had to wait! Talking about one rule for one and one rule for another, on our trip back to Male, our speedboat set off. About 7/8 minutes into the journey we saw the skipper on his phone, then we slowed down, turned around and went back to the island and had to wait to pick up 2 girls, who got on with no luggage so assume they were workers? Not sure if we would return even though there are lots of good things about this island but also quite a lot of confusion amongst staff (not their fault) which starts to grate a bit.

This resort is definitely not for everyone, but my husband and I loved it. If you’re looking for luxury and fine dining, go somewhere else and pay accordingly. If you’re happy with a big comfortable bed, friendly staff and a great, easily accessible house reef then this fits the bill. As mentioned in other reviews, the bungalows are shabby, with loose sockets and tatty flooring - but spacious, comfortable and clean. Contrary to some reviews, we didn’t see a single cockroach, nor did we pay for any water we ordered over the 3litres our cleaner left each day. The food was adequate, though rarely hot enough, and there was plenty of it. I don’t understand why the beach bar isn’t part of the AI package, but as you can walk around the entire island in about 15 minutes, it’s hardly a chore to go to the main bar. You can’t order multiple drinks for one person or take drinks away from the bar which is a shame, as I would have liked to sit on our patio with a glass of wine. The staff were, on the whole, helpful and friendly (hello Rihan). What really made it for me was the reef with its fantastic marine life. Tbh, if you don’t snorkel then Eriyadu is probably not for you. Likewise, I wouldn’t have been so happy if we had paid full whack, but we got a great deal from Blue Bay travel (via Travelzoo) and have already booked to return. PS - the fruit bats, hermit crabs and lizards were a bonus! 😀

We booked via blue bay travel and had the upgrade to a deluxe beach front villa, they uut us in 213 and happened to have (in our humble opinion) the best room location on the entire island! You literally walk out to your 2 sun beds and you are on the seafront (as pictures show) you are given free snorkel and flippers as part of the all inclusive package which means you can enjoy snorkelling around the island (you are on a reef and so much to see) many have mentioned the food, as all inclusive a go was very good they make a great effort to add lots of variety throughout assuming the small amount of guests in comparison to most all inclusive resorts, my wife who has an array of foods she is unable to eat was still able to find something every meal and we were happy with the quality too. Also it wasn't the hottest of food but at 30 degrees every day it would be too much if it was piping hot! The service in the restaurant was made a lot better and 5* in our opinion was the amazing wait staff, especially rayhan who was just amazing throughout! We wanted to tip at the end but had no cash and didn't realise there was no facilities to get any on the island (so take some with you if you are hoping to tip they use dollars here) moving on to the bar, yes you can only drink in the bar but this is due to the laws in the country not the hotels own policy, it's an islamic country and their licensing is in line with this, we had a conversation with the general manager about this who was very helpful and tried to make our stay as good as possible and spoke about making this clearer as to why the rule exists. The bar itself had great service especially from a very helpful server called Rajon who made our times in the bar far more comfortable always remembering our drinks and orders and being proactive.the bar manager Mr waheed also deserves a shout out for doing everything in his power to ensure that our honeymoon was a trip to remember and going out of his way to make out time great. They made a good effort as well to entertain their guests in an evening. As mentioned by other people yes the rooms are dated, but this is reflected in the price and they made every effort to keep them clean and tidy for you and they are comfortable and have all the amenities you could need. This is outweighed by the great spa facilities the free snorkelling and 1hr kayak free per day and the offer of other water sports as well, we paddle boarded and that was a great experience also! We got to see sharks and turtles and every fish we could have thought of and it was just an absolutely amazing experience!!

Dear Alfie, We are thrilled to hear that you and your partner had an exceptional honeymoon experience at our resort. Indeed, room 213 had a direct access to the sea and comfortable sun beds. We are delighted to learn that you enjoyed snorkeling around the island. Providing complimentary snorkel and flippers as part of our all-inclusive package is indeed a wonderful addition. Exploring the vibrant reef and encountering the diverse marine life must have been an unforgettable adventure. We are glad that you found our culinary offerings to be delectable and diverse. We always strive to accommodate various dietary restrictions and preferences, and we are thrilled that your wife was able to find enjoyable options. We understand that with the hot weather, it is important to ensure the food is served at the ideal temperature. We sincerely apologize for any confusion regarding tipping. We appreciate your feedback, and we will make sure to provide clearer information about the country's laws and customs to our valued guests. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Furthermore, we are delighted to hear that our team members, especially Rayhan, provided exceptional service at the restaurant. Their attentiveness and helpfulness truly contribute to our overall guests dining experience. We are also pleased to learn that Rajon and Mr. Waheed provided excellent service at the bar. Having attentive staff members who remember your favorite drinks and orders can truly enhance your time with us. We take great pride in creating a welcoming environment for our guests. It's wonderful to know that you have great memories of your time here. Once again, thank you for choosing Eriyadu for your holiday. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future. Best regards, Eriyadu Island Resort

Get a coffee- this is a long one. We got a great price from Bluebay travel to come here on an all inclusive basis. We were not long back from another wonderful trip to Maldives and we had an itch to return. We read the reviews/blogs and looked at many images in advance in particular the rooms. We found the Eriyadu rep in the airport he was in the vicinity of the resort desks and he brought us to an area where others were waiting. Within 10-15 minutes we were on the speedboat and heading to the island. We were fortunate with the weather and had a lovely transfer over. We actually enjoyed looking at other islands and the beautiful changing colours of the water. We arrived around 1pm reception was very busy but within 20 minutes we were checked in and being taken to our room. We were allocated room 220 we had requested a room from 212-219. However we were delighted with the allocation, it was private with trees outside and a couple of steps out to a stunning stretch of beach. I was pleased we didn’t get rooms 215-219 as there was a lot of erosion here and there was work happening there to replace sand bags when we were there- see images(I’m sure it’s fine now). We weren’t disappointed with the room as we knew what to expect. It was adequate for the week and thoroughly cleaned twice a day. Towels were changed once per day (we would have preferred twice as we constantly seemed to be showering- but never mind). There was always plenty of water in the room and basic tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom was rustic with an open area above the shower however we liked this as we could see the stars and listen to the birds. The shower gel/ shampoo etc didn’t smell too nice so we were glad we brought our own. The tiles in the bathroom appeared to have been replaced recently as they were relatively modern. From a resort perspective overall the communal areas- reception, gym, pool tables and walk way between is very dated. This did not disappoint as we anticipated this and we didn’t use the facilities much. We spent 7 nights here and our days were relatively similar. We missed breakfasts most mornings as we couldn’t be bothered getting up. Instead we chose to snorkel the beautiful reef from our beach villa or other times entering at the dive centre. This depended on the weather and the conditions of the ocean. We adored the snorkelling here it was so easy from the beach and whatever way you turned there was an abundance of colourful fish. Thoroughly enjoyable. This was usually followed by a snooze on the beach or a walk around the island before showering and changing for lunch. This all depended on the weather, we did get a good bit of rain and thundery showers. When this happened we sat on the terrace read books and watched the sea and sky change. Lunch most days was the same- a soup choice, salads ( that weren’t covered and sometimes had insects around- we passed on this), a noodle or pasta dish, rice, potatoes- mostly wedges, a curry (veg/fish) and a daal to choose from. A nice ice cream on a cone for after. All served buffet style. The menu was repetitive over the week. Dinners were pretty similar apart from there was something grilled also available and no ice cream but a selection of desserts. Food was mediocre and not hot. Meal times were generally a time to quell hunger rather than an enjoyable affair. My husband got speaking to managers and chefs and they very kindly made him curries most days. For which he was very grateful. Although I think he over did it on the spicy curry’s as he ended up with an upset stomach for our last 2 days. The restaurant was simplistic with sand floors and a mix match of furniture some of it very dated and stained. Drinks were served in the restaurant promptly and with a smile from the staff. Beer here was served really well as was the wine. Red and white wine very drinkable, I sometimes added ice as the humidity would make the drink warm very quickly. Afternoons were spent in a similar manner as to the mornings. When we had clear skies we went to the bar for sundowners and to watch the sunset which was really lovely. We enjoyed the bar. Furniture was clean, modern and in very good condition. We enjoyed sitting here having some drinks and enjoying watching the sharks, rays and fish swim by. There was entertainment most nights which we enjoyed in particular the live bands and crab racing. The karaoke was difficult to listen too. Drinks were fine in the bar interestingly the beer was nicer in the restaurant. In the bar it was sometimes by draft or sometimes by can depending on availability. I enjoyed a few G&T’s. I’d recommend these!! Overall it was very relaxed at night with most people dressing comfortably and no requirement for shoes in a very relaxed atmosphere. We had the included 30 minute leg massage which was nice on a rainy day. We also went on the house reef orientation organised by the dive centre which I thoroughly recommend- the guide was great. We also did the sunset fishing which was a great evening for a very reasonable price. They will cook the fish the following day if you wish. We didn’t bother with this part but we enjoyed the trip watching a beautiful sunset too. The staff assist to make sure you get a catch. Overall we enjoyed our time in Eriyadu, we felt very relaxed and certainly switched off here. We met lovely people- it’s a very friendly island. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful too. I’d usually call out some in particular but they didn’t wear name badges or introduce themselves. But thank you for looking after us. We did tip for our service as gratitude for the hard work. We loved the snorkelling here and the beautiful beach as well as the short transfer from Male. However the food is the reason we would not return even for a great price. This is a solid 3 star resort (ignore other representations). Management and staff agree to this and they are very proud to have an island that remains reasonably priced when most other islands are being upgraded and made 5star. It allows the island to be accessible to locals for weekend trips and others who want that trip to paradise at a reasonable price.

This Island was like being on Gilligan's Island. You are only allowed to drink your alcohol beverages at the bar area. You can not take it to the room, beach, or dinner. You only get clean towels if you ask. You eat 3 times a day at a buffet and the food is not hot. The beach bar was only open once and that bar you have to pay for a drink. The room is absolutely NOT a deluxe Villa. It was a regular room and when you opened the door to the bathroom you will find big black carpenter ants and a open ceiling to the outside for a shower so when it rains at night the next morning you have a very wet floor. They have one pool table and one ping pong table. The water was beautiful and the weather was great. Other than that I could not wait to go home. Exoticca over sold this vacation.

We really enjoyed our stay on Eriyadu Island. The service was excellent and the location can't be beat. We had room 214 which was right on a small private beach, where we could hear the waves at night and see the moon. The rooms were not fancy but had everything you needed: TV, room safe, fridge, umbrella, tub, two showers, nice large bottled waters, charging ports. Had housekeeping in the morning and evening. My wife enjoyed the messages at the spa and I enjoyed the wide variety of water sports available. I went snorkeling and kayaking (included) and went sailing on their catamaran after taking lessons. I really appreciated them giving us a late check out on the last day, especially with our evening flight from Male. There were a few things that could have been improved. The buffet meals were adequate, we could usually find something both of us could enjoy. We definitely got tired of the food after a few days, it would have been nice to have a few a la carte options. We did not appreciate them allowing people to smoke at meals and at the bar, it made for a lot of discomfort. The workout room definitely needs updating, the only thing in good shape was the treadmill. With a little money and effort you can replace the elliptical, add some weights over 10 pounds, and get a couple of good benches. Overall I would recommend Eriyadu Island Resort, I feel like it is a good value for the money.

We've just returned from a 10 night stay at eriyadu Island resort, an offer from bluebay we couldn't refuse, this was our first visit to the Maldives and certainly won't be our last ,the resort was fabulous ,the speed boat to the island was very good about 50mins ,we were met at reception with chilled ice tea much appreciated ,our room was a very good size ,the bed was massive and proved to be extremely comfortable as were the pillows too ,the furniture was a bit dated and we felt a bit of colour to the walls representing the tropical island we were staying at would be an improvement and perhaps more inviting, again the bathroom furniture was also dated although the b asins and showers were modern and hot water was plentiful the " outdoor " shower was useful for rinsing the sand off when returning from the beach ,our room was 234 and just a few steps away from the most amazing tropical beach pure white sand and not hot to walk on always an added bonus ,the staff were very helpful and friendly particularly amun ( sorry if I've not spelt his name correctly ) amun and the young lad with him in the restaurant nearest to reception they were brilliant ,the food was excellent and varied the desserts were old school which I liked bread and butter pudding ,semolina, sago, crumbles along with pannacot and fresh fruit ice cream ect , well done to the chefs , my only complaint would be the lack of variety of fish being an island I'd have thought more would have been available, I just have to add the eggs at breakfast were freshly cooked to order. The resort was very clean and well maintained also very pretty with all the flowers and trees ect . A big thank you to Russell who attended to our room twice a day he was very helpful and friendly it was a pleasure to meet him and he's a big asset to the resort .the bar was also great as were the staff , there was life music and karaoke a nice place to sit and chat with other guests, it was good to watch the sharks over the balcony coming in every night we even saw a mantaray one night, overall our stay here was an amazing experience and we will be returning. Finally one tip would be more information for guests ie perhaps a folder detailing free laundry service ,availability of shower facilities once guests have checked out and other relevant information. Thank you for a wonderful holiday we'll see you again.

Regarded by some as a budget hotel. The Eriyadu Island Resort is a solid four star hotel. We were met at the airport in Male by a representative. We waited for about 30 minutes for our speedboat transfer. The speedboat ride was generally smooth, I dozed off for a bit. When we arrived at the resort we were taken to reception where our check in details were taken. Then we were escorted to our deluxe villa. We got a villa that took us straight to the beach and I saw a turtle popping up on my first afternoon. The only drag was dragging the sunbed to the beach and back each day. Our room had a double bed, a smaller single bed, USB sockets, a small television, a refrigerator, a kettle with tea and coffee. There were UK style 3 point plugs but a few sockets were of the kind that could take other continental plugs. It was a good sized room but rather basic. The walls were plain white, the furniture dark with a bit of wear and tear. There was nothing in terms of deco that was screaming that we were in a tropical island. Maybe a dash of colour would not go amiss but it was all a tad dull. The bathroom was more modern. Two separate sinks. A bath and shower combo and a separate shower that had an open roof which we liked. Although as he day went on it would gather leaves, it can get wet when it rains. Also you could leave from the bathroom door, So do note some larger sized ants could crawl about as well. I did also note some health and safety lapses. The fuse box being in the bathroom. The island resort is small. You can walk around it in 10 minutes. What it does have is a great house reef. You get into the water and snorkel with wonderful underwater views of various fishes. I mainly snorkelled from the beach outside our room but I also snorkelled from one of the jetty's. The snorkelling, the underwater views were a big plus in this resort. As we were on all inclusive. We did not have to worry about racking up extras. As a fussy eater I was generally impressed with the choice. In fact some days there was too much to eat. For a few days the waiter got me ice cream at evening dinner as I was feeling a bit under the weather. Normally there was always ice cream at lunch and I did like there was a good variety at lunch time. At other hotels I have been on AI, lunch tends to be a disappointment. For breakfast there was an omelette station. We could go to the main bar for our drinks. I tended to have iced coffee, I felt the mocktails tended to be samey and also a little too sweet. There was entertainment put on a few nights, a singer arrived for a couple of nights. Karaoke was done for two nights but apart from that it is low key. The hotel had a small swimming pool which we did not use. It was good for kids. There was a small games room with a pool table and a small gym. There is even a mosque room which is mainly for the staff. On our final day we can have lunch and can drink from the bar until 4 pm. Our return to Male took place at 3 pm. We enjoyed the hotel, it might not be plush like some mega 5 star resorts in Maldives. It met our needs, it was good small island, it was a fine resort, the staff were friendly. The room was good and like other visitors from the UK. We got a good deal from Blue Bay Travel.

It was our first time in the Maldives, and actually our targets were quite basic: no need for luxury, nice and easy to reach reef. The tour operator we used (Mondomaldive, super) suggested us this simple and basic resort which should have been OK for our needs, and it was. OK, first to say is that we have been quite lucky, as we had practically no rain and calm sea for the whole stay long (two weeks, August); still, the reef is really in easy reach all over the island, room (with its own two sunloungers!) was quite basic but definitely large and comfortable and 5 meters away from a small, almost private beach. Food at the restaurant again quite basic, but if you are not looking for gourmet meals, it is more than OK. And, upon request, you may also have special dishes. What to say: this is not the place if you are looking for luxury accommodation, but if you want a clean, nice and small resort where to snorkel to see sharks, turtles, eagle rays, morays and tenths of different fishes, this can be the place.
