Travelers' Choice
If the Maldives are the pearls of the Indian Ocean, Four Seasons Resort Kuda Huraa is one of its rarest gems: a perfectly rounded incarnation that is true to itself and its setting; prizes outstanding service above short-lived gimmicks; and embraces each guest’s stay with an almost familial devotion. A strong marine theme runs throughout all the activities and facilities: surfing, diving, turtle and coral conservation, SUP yoga and The Island Spa’s Healing Waters treatment menu to name a few. Arguably more important, both word and deed are aligned when it comes to the ocean: a commitment that includes taking solid steps to preserve its surrounding marvels and operating as honesty and ethically as possible. A fragrant island that enchants all who visit, Kuda Huraa is a surf haven, a safe family sanctuary, a romantic retreat, and a place where visitors return year after year seduced by its indescribable magic.

We have recently returned from a truly memorable trip, to Four Seasons at Kuda Huraa. I travelled with my 2 children (10 and 7 years old) and we stayed in a Sunset Beach Bungalow with pool. The beauty of the island – the beaches and surrounding ocean – is outstanding, and the service is phenomenal. We enjoyed seeing amazing marine life whilst snorkelling in the lagoon (sunrise side of island) and on the Kuda Huraa reef (a 2 minute boat ride away) – thank you Ziya! We also did a sunrise fishing trip and caught a Grouper and White Snapper, while hand line fishing – thanks Ali! The fish were prepared for our dinner that night at the Kandu Grill, and were delicious. My children spent a morning helping the resident marine biologists to take care of Bubble the turtle, in the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre and were also given the opportunity to create a coral frame, which was then placed in the ocean. So many amazing experiences but what made the trip, was the genuine friendliness and care extended by all the wonderful staff – Didi (who we enjoyed going to see everyday for his mocktails and milkshakes!), Isuru and Isse by the pool and beach, Soma (housekeeping), and Sharu (thank you again for the chess challenge!). We can’t wait to come back again!

We visit Four Seasons Kuda Huraa every year with the family. We love absolutely everything about the hotel and the staff. Everybody is extremely professional and do their best. Especially Zahir! My kids love him. We also had the best diving experience with Nazir. We wish to visit again next year!

Open Water Diving and Snorkelling in the Indian Ocean abundant with sea life, extra ordinary sunrises and sunsets is Paradise. When the back cloth is the Four Seasons embrace it is surely Paradise Squared. The first day was the perfect exercise in anticipation. By the time we strolled to dinner we had experienced the efficient pick up, been whisked to the atoll, met with genuine warmth, enjoyed an excellent breakfast, checked into the villa over the sea, retreated to the spa for a relaxing massage where you look down to the Ocean Floor through your spa bed and enveloped by it's sound. We had already been there for ever, or so it felt. The communities capacity for anticipation is extra ordinary far from an Atoll being an excuse for a less sophisticated hospitality it is quite the reverse and it is all offered with real charm and warmth. Who would you single out ? The entire team is the answer the musicians at Barrabaruu paling their raga's and chants were as important to the evening as the team who prepared and delivered the excellent cuisine. The Reef Club was open for much of the stay for breakfast (which I preferred to Cafe Huruu) and their more involved cooking in the evening was a real hit with us. The snorkel excursions were carried out in an atmosphere of joie de vie and the experienced swimmers and divers were very supportive of my daughter who this was new to. However the personal highlight was undoubtedly my open water diving with Ibrihim Nazeer who offered the right balance of adventure and respect for the environment. (the current was very strong on the second dive so we changed locations). What makes Kudu Huruu so wonderful is the collision of uncomplicated real nature with sophisticated efficient hospitality and it happens from the moment you come out of arrivals to the moment you move to passport control. My thanks to all, and especially Angelica De Leon who organised the magnificent first day. A third visit you bet!!

Thank you very much for taking the time to craft such a wonderful review of your recent stay at Kuda Huraa. We really appreciate the special shout out to Nazeer and Anjelica who are both big culture carriers amongst us. We are very proud to have both of them on our team. We are also touched by the skillful way you introduced and weaved in various aspects of our resort, each with a master stroke of kindness and elevating us with a heartfelt compliment that was recognized and much appreciated. Of course, finishing with a potential third visit is what truly warmed our hearts and brought a smile to each one of us. Indeed, we will be waiting for #3, hopefully in the not so distant future.

Definitely a good resort. However, there multiple pros and cons; Pros: Family oriented and mostly family crowd which makes a peaceful environment for relaxing. The General Manager Randy Shimabuku is very pleasant. Hawaii native so he is very much in his elements. Rooms are in good shape. Clean. House keeping is doing a great job. Cons: First night we have arrived there was a preplanned event which we did not know that was in front of our Villa with very loud music. Food was good. Music was good but very loud. Wish they selected another location away from the Villas. Since the island space is limited this is something visitors should definitely ask before they book their room. Restaurant variety is a bit dull. Food is not bad but not what you expect to eat at Four Seasons. Definitely an upgrade is necessary. Breakfast definitely needs an update or a refreshing set of hands in the kitchen. Outdoor shower needs maintenance since there is a smell of slight sewage odor. Buggy service is not always on time. Photographer is not a Four Seasons quality professional. It would be better not to have someone at all if they are to provide a service half way. Definitely needs a better professional. We have seen other photographers on the island doing a much better job. Room service is fast to deliver but very slow to pick up finished trays.

Thank you very much for taking the time to highlight the pros and cons of your recent visit to Kuda Huraa. While we were a little sad to hear that we fell short of the mark in several areas, we really appreciate your candid comments and have and will use them as a learning tool to improve our resort. My sincere apologies, especially about the Festive dinner activities in front of your room on your arrival day. I can appreciate that after a long day of traveling (with a little child, no less) you were probably looking for more peace and quiet. We should have been more proactive in informing you accordingly. Without re-writing your bullet points, please know that we have taken each to heart. We wish for the three of you a wonderful year ahead and hopefully one day we will have the chance to meet again.

During November and December we spent holidays in several resorts in the Maldives. We will write a review for each hotel. If you are interested, look at other hotels for comparison. We visited: Lti Maafushivaru - 8 days The Westin Maldives - 8 days Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru - 2 days Four Seasons Explorer - 5 days Four Seasons Kuda Huraa - 2 days Four Seasons Kuda Huraa We also spent only one night and two days after the arrival of Explorer in this resort. Advantages: - The resort is close to the airport - High quality services and accommodation - The food in the restaurants was very tasty - Nice beach with excellent pool Disadvantages: - weaker underwater life - proximity to Male - The resort is a little older. We prefer a more modern style of living. Our tip: Try to arrange the departure time individually at the reception. Four Seasons Explorer Our first vacation on a boat and we look forward to going again. This ship has 10 cabins, each for two people. We were only two couples and over 20 crew members. A truly unique and great experience !!! Advantages: - great service corresponding to the quality of the Four Seasons brand - The cabin was small, but always perfectly tidy and sufficient for sleeping - All meals were an unforgettable experience for us - All-day program organized to the last detail - The boat route leads through the most interesting places for diving and snorkeling - The atmosphere on the ship created by the crew was more than friendly - Very high quality diving and snorkeling equipment Disadvantages: - none Our tip: If you are diving or snorkeling, you have to go! We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, really all the employees on the ship. We look forward to coming next.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your comments and evaluations regarding your recent visit to the Maldives. We were especially interested and appreciative of the details you shared regarding Kuda Huraa and the Explorer. Unfortunately we don't receive that many written comments on the Explorer, but those that we do receive almost always reflect the WOW that you included in your review. One does not even have to dive (snorkeling sites can also take your breath away) to fully enjoy this 3 night, 4 night or 7 night get away on our luxurious live aboard yacht. We also focus on the quality of taste and presentation of food both in Kuda Huraa and on the Explorer and acknowledge your kind compliments here as well. Please stay safe and we hope to see you again in the not-so-distant future.
