Boat transfer over and although a bit bumpy was not a problem at all. Staff gave each of us a bottle of cold water and there was plenty of room on the boot. But what can I say - from the moment we sat foot on the jetty I was completely in love with Summer Island! Felt an immediate sense of relaxation and my shoulders dropped from months and months of Covid stress and lockdown anxieties, it was amazing! The colour of the water was beyond clear and the most gorgeous colour blue and the sunset colours were different each night. I visited with friends. It is not just a couples holiday and there were a few families with small children. Older children may be bored as there is nothing for them to do other than swim. The infinity pool was stunning. My room was on the sunset side of the island and it was 15 steps from bed to sun lounger on a fabulous stretch of beach. Room was spacious, bright and clean with AC, a TV and a fixed hairdryer in the bathroom. Wonderfully smelling toiletries are in the bathroom too. The whole island takes less that 15 minutes to walk around. We went out on the boat for snorkeling and this was free within our holiday package. We were all inclusive and the food in the main dining area was buffet style with plenty of choice. You could upgrade to an a la carte dinner, in the islands second restaurant, at a charge of $10. Wine was OK and some cocktails were included in the all inclusive package too. Guests have to wear masks in public areas and when walking in the dining areas. Anti bac pumps are located in all of these areas too. The garden areas are tended by staff all the time and each and every member of staff were wearing masks. This was all the time, even those working outdoors. I took great comfort from this. The staff are friendly, helpful and very low key, nothing was too much trouble. I would especially like to thank Raju for his fabulous cocktails, Long Island Iced Tea...boy I wish I could have another please Raju! Shakoor, Manesh and all the dining staff. Petra and the dive team - great bunch of people. Riani and Ratni in the spa. A truly tranquil place and a wonderful massage, thank you again Riani! And finally to Naseem for looking after my room so well. For those looking for activity this will not be the place for you. Those looking to get away from everything and relax and chill out, I have certainly never found anywhere more tranquil. The wifi service did work well - for those in need! I so hope to visit again. It truly is a wonderful place and the memories will stay with me for a very long time! Thank you once again to everyone at Summer Island. Stay as perfect as you are, don't change anything!

Spent two weeks in a Superior Beach bungalow which was lovely , big and clean with fab A/C , tea and coffee facilities ( if you run out just call reception and they bring more ) two bottles of water daily , once again if you run out call reception. The speed boat transfer is awfull ! get the sea plane . Beach i have my suspicions is man made ??? the "sand" is tiny shells and dead coral , but anyway still lovely . Make sure you take some neopremes as there are lots of rocks and dead coral in the sea ( we stayed on the non windy side room 241 , id advise staying on the windy side as the heat and humidity is brutal. We loved watching the baby reef sharks and fish that come super close to the shore. Bring your own snorkel masks and fins if you can as they are very expensive to hire. Food good although we never made breakfast but you can order food from the bar ( chargeable ) at any time . Always a great choice . We ordered the sea Food platter and had it delivered to our room and it was amazing ! Lobster , scallops , prawns , octopus , fish and veg and salad ( didn't want rice or fries ) Drinks , wine drinkable , white , rose or red . Spirits are locally produced and ok . My husband did order a JD & Coke ( double ) and it was $60 ! shocking ! If you want premium they are not included even if you are AI. Staff are fantastic , nothing is too much trouble and they remember your name and drinks . It's table service but you never wait long to be served. The management should be super proud of them all .

We got back last week from 2 weeks at summer island. We really enjoyed our stay at summer island it really is a beautiful place. The staff were all fantastic, so friendly and attentive. We stayed in a superior bungalow which was very clean and spacious. It was nice to have our own designated sun loungers on the beach. We mainly dined in the samuga restaurant which we found to have a good variety of food. We never had a problem finding something we liked. We used the spa for a massage which was very nice and again the staff were very friendly. It was slightly over priced and they add on a service charge automatically. There were a few things that we found disappointing. We decided to upgrade to a water villa for our last two nights. It was an extra $230 a night for this. In our opinion it wasn’t worth it and for us a waste of money. The room itself was nice but not any better than our superior bungalow room. We were looking forward to using the steps down to the sea but we were unable to do this as the sea was so rough we wouldn’t have felt safe. Also the steps into the water were full of algae at the bottom and would have not wanted to use them. We were disappointed we didn’t have our own sun loungers on the beach when we moved to the water villa and there weren’t any free for us to use . We were now able to have use of the over water bar and restaurant included in our all inclusive package. The restaurant wasn’t much different than the main buffet restaurant as starter and desert was a buffet and then you ordered a main course from the menu. We found there wasn’t much shade on the beach and it was a bit of a fight in the morning to get under the tree by our sun loungers. There aren’t many sun loungers around the pool area maybe about 10 so you find people are running to get them as soon as one becomes free. In the mornings you’d see staff cleaning up the beach however they never seemed to get to the part of the beach where our sun loungers were. There were often offers on drinks So we decided to have some mojitos as the offer was 2x1. We thought this meant buy 2 for the price of 1 but it actually meant buy 2 get 1 free so just be careful.

Visited for 12 nights from 5th Nov room 218. The first time we had speed boat transfer. 45 mins of bumpy hot ride that reminded me of the Atlantic crossing Richard Branson completed: Firstly the checking in was smooth and quick despite the early arrival time. Really nice welcome drink and face cloth. Got shown to a room with a limited sea view? Really confused me as the sea view was spectacular over looking the swing in the sea. We were to late for breakfast and had to wait for lunch from 12.30. Unfortunately we were exhausted and fell asleep and missed lunch on the day. Breakfast on day 2 was as advertised buffet style. As usual and the location of Maldives to India, curries every breakfast, lunch and dinner. Few strange choices like spring roles and spaghetti. The cooked breakfast offer had a few bad points. Streaky beef bacon were flat solid pieces of cardboard every day? When they did hash browns the method of keeping them worm made them soggy soft and not very nice. The egg counter was great serving fried eggs and omelet's. Fruit counter excellent and the choice of homemade breads were amazing. Fresh made pancake and waffle counter also great. 07.30 to 09.30. Don’t be a minute late they clear down promptly. Buffet lunch and dinner great food, home cooked! Staff always very helpful and friendly. All looks really good until you dig and experience the other side of Summer Island. Not sure they realise how they make the all-inclusive customer feel rather alienated and second class. Yes all food and some drinks are included but be aware the cocktails included are the most unimaginative selection served in a narrow straight glass with a tinny triangle of orange or lime perched on the lip. All other cocktails are available at a huge cost. We don’t drink very much good thing really. The Lion lager is just drinkable. Red wine is classed same as rose wine and fit for cooking only. As you would expect you have choice of plenty of others at again a huge cost. If you fancy a snack with your drink forget it. All chargeable and a bowl of fries $10 (£7.42) Only one other restaurant other than buffet is listed À la carte. I know the Wi-Fi is very hot and miss but if management can get on Google look up A La Carte? Yes you pay an extra $10 each for the privilege but the starters and desserts are the same as the buffet restaurant and yes you help yourselves to them! Then the A La Carte bit comes, they serve you your main course. Then to add insult to injury they don’t serve any all inclusive drinks there either!!!! That takes care of food and drink. Warning time. Bring really good beach shoes and ones without air holes in top. The beach and sea are not fine smooth sand rather crushed tiny bits of coral which kill your feet. If your going to snorkel bring mask and fins as the rental changes are per 24 hours and hugely expensive. Same as renting underwater cameras! The free snorkel trip is a little scary and only suitable for really good swimmers as they drop you off quite away from the reef and drive off without much direction where to go and where they will pick you up. When we went the sea swell was quite high so very easy to loose sight of boat and fellow snorkelers. After getting knocked spotted the boat so swam towards it and they just sailed off in another direction. Very scary. To sum up. Very little on offer for big spend. Pressure to pay pay and pay again. Definitely not worth the money. Better off in Kuredu or Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa. There you get free 2 A La Carte meals a week a free sunset cruise a free 30 minute spa treatment free snorkel hire decent coffee machine in rooms and your made to feel very welcome even all inclusive. Having paid $8000 feel very let down.
