My wife and I stayed here for 3 weeks all inclusive. Mari and her whole team are amazing, professional and our holidays for next year are already booked here. The food is of an exceptional standard. Accommodation is immaculate, we stayed in the superior beach, sunrise side. Snorkelling is amazing, so are the wildlife. Service is second to none. There is nothing negative to say about this exceptional hotel. The bar area, on the decking and inside is so relaxing and all your needs are catered for. Some people treat the staff like servants and we found this unacceptable and sad as the service is so good. If you are not happy with anything why not speak directly to the management, they are always available and happy to help. We found some people just prefer to be negative, not sure why. It appears they just like to moan when they are so lucky to be in such a wonderful hotel in a beautiful location considering the last 18 months of everyone's lives. Andrew & Amanda

We have been to other islands, this has been the best ! Best service Best food Best value Best staff Stay(ing) still here for another week. room 383 Beach villa. Couldn't ask for anything better. It's on the sunrise and less windy side of the island, 7 paces from the waters edge in quiet lagoon. Plenty of snorkeling opportunities here. Nothing is to much trouble for any of the staff (Mari, you should be proud of every single one of them) After 1 day restaurant waiters and bar staff know your name and room number and drink preferences. Special mention to Sana in the Samuga restaurant. Excellent service every day from him, very attentive, happy to chat and just a real nice guy. The choice and variations in Samuga are well thought out to cater for all nationalities (I have seen some reviews on here complaining about the food - please ignore these) as the quality is excellent (I'm a chef) . There are various Western and Eastern dishes to choose from. I recommend you try some of the Curries and side dishes (not spicy) some of the best I've tasted (and I have eaten in Michelin star restaurants) Tip - Go full board or all inclusive as drinks and food are expensive. (As they are everywhere in the Maldives) Nevi bar - Good choice of drinks and spirits, never too busy. Staff excellent (Special mention for Raju) Haven't tried the Hiya restaurant yet as it's not on our all inclusive package, but we will be before we leave. Room - Everything you need, clean, modern, everything works, lovely outdoor shower room, air conditioning (very quiet and very effective) Wildlife - fruit bats, chameleons, friendly roaming chickens , birds that will come to your balcony for Breakfast, photogenic heron (I swear he loves his picture taken) all sorts of nature to watch, just sit back and take your time, you'll be amazed. Not forgetting the variety of fish / sharks (small reef sharks, harmless) turtles, stingrays. Tip - get an underwater camera and goggles and flippers before you leave as they are expensive to buy or hire. The Island is just perfect. For travellers from the UK, if you have not been to the Maldives before, this is the island to choose. We don't normally go back to the same place and same hotel, but for here we definitely will be back. Phil & Lynda x

My partner and I stayed at Summer Island the last week in September for 10 nights! The place is amazing. When we first landed in Male the weather was horrific which was not the start of the honeymoon we imagined. Due to the bad weather the sea was very rough and after waiting a few hours for the speedboat to be safe to get on we attempted to make it to the island. Unfortunately, due to the bad seas (and possible long travel day) both myself and my partner fell very ill. It was decided to take us back to the airport where we received medical treatment and a rep from Summer Island stayed with us throughout- offering us a variety of options nothing was too much trouble! Genuinely made an awful experience bearable I can not thank you enough (the name sadly escapes me). Fast forward a few hours and we finally name it to the island: Check-in: Was fast efficient and very pleasant. Here we asked if we could be in a sunset room (since I am not the best with mornings), however on recommendation we stuck with the sun rise side due to it being a lot less windy. We were escorted to our room, where our bags greeted us shortly after. The Room: We stayed in a Premium Beach Villa and I am genuinely lost for words! The room was spectacularly clean, a very good size, and decorated tastefully. The bathroom was open aired (not massively but enough), and the bath tub in these rooms was a nice touch on days when we had a little afternoon down pore it was nice to have a bath and hear the rain. The patio area was a lovely place to sit on a morning/evening to have a cup of coffee from the nespresso machine provided (4 pods a day). Also just to note there is taps front and back so you can clean sand off your feet before you get into your room- I was very paranoid about the amount of sand. Beach towels are also provided. Food: Amazing! We ate in both the over water restaurant and the buffet. In the over the water there is an al a carte main and buffet style starter and dessert. Every dish I has I loved (I am a vegetarian so this is shocking) and my partner loved the meat options too. All food we had at the hotel was amazing. Sitting outside over the water was a wonderful experience and we tended to see some big rays and sharks around this time too! (naturally not being fed!) Everything else: Free snorkelling trip daily is a must! They have 4 different sites and we saw turtles and sharks while out. Stick with the guide as they know where to look. The sea was beautiful while we were there, due to the time of year and plankton visibility sometimes was poorer but as someone not confident in the sea I was fine! Snorkelling near the end of pier was good and we saw a big shark and huge sting ray near this area! We found the all inclusive cocktails were not to our taste however if we made up out own asking the bar staff to mix certain all inclusive drinks together :) Top Tips: 1. I would recommend taking motion sickness tablets with you to take a couple of hours before you get on the boat just in case 2. there is a fair bit of broken coral/ shells this does not detract from the beach but being nervous of the sea I found taking some reef shoes would be good- they are very expensive then you get there 3. Take Snorkel, googles and fins with you- you can hire them there but if you go on the trip everyday you need them so might as well buy them 4.Tips- this is a big for me being, you don't need to slip anyone more for good service it is a standard and then if you feel it you can tip after (this is the way I like it at a hotel, I do not feel you should need to tip someone straight away) 5. I would recommend taking some mosquito spray- this was fine until last couple of days of the holiday where I was eaten alive (it may have been ants too) Overall out stay was fabulous and I would go back tomorrow if I could! I am very pleased we stayed in the premium bungalow with it being a honeymoon, however on the last day we went into a vista room to get showered etc and this rooms was also lovely- the view was nice and the sun loungers are numbered so you will have some of your own! We spoke to some people from water bungalow who wished they would have stayed in the bungalow because having the beach right there was amazing but that's preference. We WILL be coming back to Summer Island because its amazing- thank you!

We had an amazing experience at Summer Island Resort, great job done by the entire resort team, unexpected high standard of cleanless, food quality, customer service. Really great value for money! Well done to all, especially to Mahesh (Samuga Restaurant) and AbuBaker(housekeeping). Walking barefoot around the island (including restaurant&bar) has been one of the best experience on this resort. Just two recommendations for the management: 1. To find a better solution for the bungallows room doors(the main entrance door and bathroom door)as it makes disturbing noise while closing them. 2. DJ night to have more variety of music including latino, chillout house etc. By the way, compliments for the live band, the lady singer has a wonderful voice. We definitelly wish to visit again and we highly recommend Summer Island Resort as one of the best resort in Maldives.

We stayed one week in the premium beach villa and one week in the water villa, and we had a great time! The service is excellent, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and modern. The beach is marvellous, especially in the afternoon when the waves take away small stones and shells that have been accumulated over the night. We liked that there were many different things to do like kayak or snorkeling, but not too many such that you could still relax in peace without having a crowded beach and noise. So, it was really quiet, too. The food was good, sometimes average, sometimes incredibly delicious, but I guess this is a personal thing. The free snorkeling trips were really nice and you could see plenty of things like turtles, little sharks, manta rays and all sorts of fish. The island itself is kept clean by many workers and we felt very welcome all the time. The staff doesn't ask for a tip but it sure is appreciated, and they did a good job so we tipped them at the end. The transfer was arranged by the hotel and was excellent! We were picked up from the airport without any problems and the staff took care of our baggage so we just had to lean back and enjoy the view from the speed boat, same for the ride back to the airport. All in all, it's a great place for couples to enjoy a few relaxing days and there are still many things to do if you're bored. We stayed two weeks but could've stayed even three without getting bored, but this depends on your type. In general, we definitely recommend it!
