I stayed on Holiday Island Resort since 12th of until 21st of March with bookings from Hotels.com with my family. The initial booking was until 15th but due to CoVid-19 outbreak we were forced to stay here. The manager wasn't willing to do any compromise about the room price and we had to pay from 15th to 19th at normal room price. Our international flight was initially on 19th but the flying company rescheduled the flight to 21st. As the Maldivian government required to all resorts to suspend all check-ins, Holiday Resort was unlisted from all hotel bookings sites on 18th and we were enforced to pay directly from the resort at 20% higher rates than at the entire stay here. Another problem was that we booked a room with breakfast included but at the breakfast time, the waiter told us that we have ONLY room paid! I showed the manager the booking number, finally he admitted I was right. The room design is far from a 4 star hotel, rather a 2 star one. Old furniture, A/C doesn't work properly, many small ants all over the room. The beach is not cleaned , many algaes are on the shore. The only positive part of the vacation here were the waiters and the service people, but they are very kind in every island! In the end, avoid this resort if you want stylish design rooms, and not even mention luxurious ones, or come here if you want to ruin your vacation! …
Had a week here and really enjoyed my time. The resort is well appointed, well maintained and clean. I particularly want to mention the dive instructors Viki, Sixpack, and Thailand. I've done a few dives around the world and they were definately a standout for the week, the whole crew including the boat crew were very professional, very happy and ensured that all the divers had memorable dives. I understand that tourism in the area is struggling due to coronavirus. It would be beneficial to the resort if there was any way to keep this crew together. They love what they do and it's reflective on the divers that have the good fortune to dive with them. I'll be looking for any opportunity to come back
we were on holiday island for 7 days. on arrival Aishath came up to us and was responsible for the whole vacation, she was always helpful when we wanted to change our room and made everything possible. for my birthday, which I celebrated there, she organized small surprises, she was always happy, courteous. a wonderful employee who also contributed to making our vacation unforgettable. Habib was our waiter in the main restaurant, always attentive and very friendly. he even sang what was really cute on my birthday. asad, who organizes a lot, can also be mentioned very positively. the facility is great on the jetty side, has many photo spots. the food is wonderful and always fresh. very nicely prepared. staff are all very friendly and always smile. there is absolutely nothing to complain about. everyone in the spa is extremely friendly. on my birthday I even got a bouquet from Frangipani. which I was very happy about. Many thanks for the nice days and a huge thank you to all employees who made our vacation even more beautiful.…
Was very pleased when we finally arrived. The resort looks and is, amazing. After having been meeted and greated at the main island port, hopped over on an Italian style boat to Holiday Island, we strolled up the jetty, luggage being transported by trolley for us, to be warmly welcomed at reception. There I noted it's TripAdvisor rating and at this point couldn't work out why it was 4/5. Taken to our north facing villa, leading onto the beach and the Arabian Sea, we were given the low down on what's what and were left feeling very comfortable. The staff were friendly sometimes too much and then often left without any service whatsoever. And, as has been reported before, in the evening, the main bar (only night bar) became an events club.. i.e. a resort bar. Not really a requirement when we'd come to The Maldives to relax, to enjoy its nature and to chill (for want of a better expression). We could have gone to Bognor or Benidorm for that. Overall this is a beautiful place. Not bad staff, good food and great location. But it is s "resort" and that's what you get; resort style facilities. It's a place where people who have the ability to pay for it, will come... therefore an eclectic mix of people from around the world. It's not an exclusive gaff. Beautiful nevertheless. …
It was my first time in Maldives and it was amazing. From the moment you land in Male, you are greeted and accompanied to the plane to transfer to the island, to the moment when you arrive to the island the staff make you feel special. I travelled solo and I was not bored, there is always someone to talk to or help you. Bungalow was fantastic- right next to the beautiful beach and it feels quite private. It is cleaned few times a day, and towels changed all the time. I dont like the luxury so for me it was just perfect. Food at the restaurant is fantastic too, chefs really do put on the effort to please the guests. Special mention of the lovely meal cooked for Christmas night and complimentary wine, it was just too good to be true. I tried the diving school and my instructor Roman was great. Tito the DJ is a good entertainer, he is funny , friendly and tried to make everyone feel happy. I loved the music he played, the karaoke nights and his great dance teaching. Also, he organized lovely beach games which were super entertaining. Also, the guys at the watersports center are very friendly. Everyone makes you smile and makes sure you are comfortable. Beach is super pretty and clean, you can see fish swimming and snorkeling is great. Also WIFI is good…
What a beautiful island and people, everything well organized, then the color of the ocean and sand....amazing, great weather, delicious food, we had a great Christmas on the island, Santa, beach party, everything that you could ask for !!! Dj Tito put fantastic music on, lovely guy, entertains people every evening, karaoke, disco, worth it !!! Also I need to mention Naashidh, young man who took care of our room, every other day we had our bed decorated....flowers, swans are made from towels and he always SMILES. also our waiter Habib at the restaurant who took care of us every day in such polite manners, all girls at the restaurant entertained us and were polite as they can speak different languages, even if its just hello or how are you but it was very nice....chefs are always ready to cook for you; great trips, dont forget about beach bar, lots of fun there, again big thanks to DJ Tito !!! I need to mention small, cute girl from the main bar called Dhoshna, hard working girl, always ready to bring you nice coctails so....dont think about it, book it, this will be a vacation of your life !!!…
We just came back from Holiday Island Resort and wanna share our impression about it. Fantastic place, amazing bungalow beaches, excellent food and very nice peoples from waiters, to managers and "entertainment man", Deejay Titoo, with his funny shows and amazing talent. This is the kind of place from where you never wanna leave and you always remember it with a big smile :).
We wanted somewhere special for our 40th wedding anniversary and we found it. Holiday Island is so relaxing and peaceful. We had no problems finding the desk for the reps at Male Airport and were taken for our transfers quickly. A short flight, followed by a quick boat ride, delivered us to the stunning island. We were greeted with a cold, refreshing drink, which was very welcome. The check-in procedure was swift and we were shown to our room which was spacious with a huge bed, 2 easy chairs, a coffee table, tv, fridge, plenty wardrobe space and drawers. The bathroom was massive with a toilet, bidet, bath with shower and best of all an outdoor shower. There is something very liberating about showering outside. The rooms are serviced twice a day and the room boys are wonderful. Ours was Arif. You get 2 bottles of water a day - don't leave the empty bottles on the beach as some people do, take your rubbish back to a bin, not rock science folks! Each villa has a veranda with 2 deck chairs and 2 sunbeds, no need to nab other people's sunbeds. The sea is crystal clear and blue and you can see several fish swimming about. We spotted angelfish at the bottom of the steps along the jetty. Rays and harmless black tipped sharks are in abundance. Fruitbats can be seen flying through the trees and geckos and lizards run about. The Lagoon is not too deep and is a wonderful temperature for swimming. On our last day, we were sitting on our veranda reading when we heard someone calling for help. My husband went to investigate and realised that a young woman was in trouble in the lagoon. Nobody was helping, so he waded out to her. Fortunately,, she had just had a panic attack when she couldn't touch the bottom because of the swell. The staff member on the jetty was watching, but did nothing ( maybe more staff training for emergencies is called for). The food was varied and the menu wasn't repeated in the 10 days we spent on the island. There was something for every taste and for those with a sweet tooth, you won't be disappointed! The spa is beautiful and we treated ourselves to a couples massage. A full body massage, followed by a jacuzzi - wow. Good value All the staff on the island are so friendly and smiley ☺. In the restaurant on your first visit, you are shown to your table, where you will sit for all of your meals and you meet your waiter. This makes your meals more personal. We planned to do nothing but relax in the Maldives and that is what we did. It was like being on our own private island almost, absolute heaven. Our first visit, but not our last!…
Holiday island is a beautiful resort, with excellent waiters and magnificent entertainment! I had the pleasure to meet Tito, a really nice animator. He organized a lot of water games during the day, and funny shows during the evening. It was a beautiful experience to visit Maldives in general and this resort, perfect both for families (thanks to the games which involve both adults and children) and for couples.
Fantastic place views are to die for. Went for Christmas 2019 16 day stay its quiet no denying that but if that's what you want like us then just book it The staff were great from the managers to the guys who clean the beach Booked breakfast and evening meal that was enough for us the drinks are expensive so if your a drinker may be better for you fully inclusive draught beer was $8 and I took it back thinking they had given me alcohol free but they said no it wasn't so after that gin $6 was better with large tonic enough to do four gins Entertainment they try there best but a lot of couples who just want to be on there own so don't stay out too long after dinner but they have a band on once a week that are that good you think your at a concert All in all great great place and people lot of returning guests year after year and I think we will be back very soon Special mention to Naashidh who cleaned our room and also Habib for dinner Tito for entertainment Jhoshna who worked in bar and the chef who did my omelette every morning who's name I can not remember sorry…
