Nika is “the place to be”, a platform where local heritage meets Mediterranean life-style. Nika has to be considered as a piece of history of the Country, being one of the first islands that started the concept of tourism in the Maldives, back in 1983. Nika is the island where “nothing has changed”. An everlasting “thing of beauty”, that is not subjected to the disruptive impact of the Hospitality Industry that is shaping the Country. Nika represents “the Maldives that used to be”, the Idyll in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Nika is a perfect example of a boutique hotel that breaks the dynamics of big international brands that are reshaping the Maldivian hospitality industry. Nika is a heady mix of Italian lifestyle and Maldivian traditions; a unique platform where heritage and natural beauty meet together.

We visited Nika island on friends’ recommendation ( they keep coming since 2006). We went with friends- 5 kids and 4 adults
Frinds told us that Nika’s key advantages are 1) a well- kept house reef ( indeed in great condition!) 2) delicious food, which is supervised by the Italian management 3) reasonable wine prices, which is a rarity in the Maldives and 4) availability of family villas that provide for great intimacy, but everything still remain close at hand! We had our own piece of beach just 15 meters from the reef, fantastic!
The island is very well maintained and very cosy. It has got its own basilico and ruccola in the house garden. Pasta al pesto is a treat!
My special thanks go to Giovanna, la Reina of Nika island🙏. Thanks so much for the morning yoga sessions at sunrise, great talks, and fun snorkeling tours we had! I am amazed by the way she oversees things so smoothly that the island functions perfectly and makes every guest feel at home.

In summary, Nika is for lovers of nature, snorkelling, quietness, food and wine, sunrises& sunsets, and diving too. Not too much sense in taking designer clothes and you will most likely abandon shoes and even flip- flops on day 2!
Much recommended for families. We will definitely be back!

Paradise on earth
We visited Nka Island in Sep 2020. After we got out of the Male international airport we were greeted by the Nika buddies who were very helpful and helped us get checked in to the domestic airline. After an amazing scenic seaplane flight over the beautiful Indian ocean we arrived home at Nika Island and were greeted by a smiley Jenny and fresh fruit canapes. The check in was quick and easy and the staff made us feel really welcomed.
We were then whisked to our beautiful water villa and felt like we arrived at a magical place. The room was big, with large French windows opening in one of the largest sun decks I ever seen. There is also a roof terrace were we enjoyed amazing sunsets. Nika has its house reef that will allow you to snorkel to as soon as you enter the ocean.
Food was served in the main restaurant and was incredibly tasty and plentiful, you can choose from either a buffet or a-la-carte all included in our full board package.
Thank you Edo for the most amazing excursions to the Sand Banks and the amazing unforgettable experience of swimming with the mantas. Make sure you book those at the Diving Centre were Alessandra and Gianluca will guide you on the various activities available
The Resort has a SPA and we both have enjoyed amazing massages to complement the Nika's relaxing and carefree attitude. No shoes required throughout our stay, all pathways are sand covered...truly unique!
Thank you Nika, we will miss you too and can't wait to come back!

We were on Nika island for the 3rd time. As always we enjoyed this beautiful island and its great people. Each and everybody is super super friendly and they sometimes even know what you require before you know it by yourself. The restaurant with long experienced chefs and their team offfer a superb and delicous food, all the waiters always look after you, the bar men offering a large variety of cool and hot drinks, all make you feel really pampered. We felt being in best hands, as Chombe took best care of us. In addition you can relax in the SPA, where Sreeji and her team lets you forget about anything, before you enjoy the sunset late a day caused by the genious idea to prepone the local time by 2 hours. Alessandra from the PADI dive shop and her team takes you below water to see wonderful places savely, though the house reef of this neat island with corals, sharks, sting rays, turtles and many other different sea life already is a sight to see and snorkle around. The Italian management, who has run this unique place for decades really is dedicated to care about environment, not just saving this island but making sure to remember and keep traditional Maldevian arts and crafts, reflecting micro and makro details and communicate these to present the Maldives "as it used to be". During the years so so many little amendments have been made on this island to improve details to let you feel that you found paradise. Also noticeable is that many staff people have been on this island for many many years, it is a kind of family there wating for you to welcome you heartily.
The only wish we have is that all guests of this so lovely place understand how vulnerable this area is and that it can only survive, if some simple rules are obeyed: do not touch corals, do not walk on them and do not remove anything from the sea.
We can't wait to come back again.

Villa had plenty of space with a bull eye in the living room. It was very clean. Service was perfect. The resort convinced with nice gardens and nature. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were fantastic with local and mediterranian cuisine; a lot of variation made every time a new experience. The resort was led in a very familiar and personal manner which made us instantly feel like at home. The person responsible for our wellbeing has done a fantastic job all over the day including the night. Even a personal guide through the museum was possible.

A few days ago we returned from Nica. It was an unforgettable holiday! The island is especially beautiful! ..from people to vegetation, it impresses you! We felt really pampered ... cleanliness, great food, smiling and kind people .. A young man, Sasi Pakath, clung to our souls - kind, warm, speaking impeccable English, always trying to make us feel at home . Thanks Nika!

A unique and small island, where the Maldivian tradition is combined with the Italian taste. Food is excellent, both buffet both a la carte. The rooms are large and confortable, I recommend, for a full privacy, the beach villas with private beach. The Spa has a professional staff and it’s located in a very quite area. And, very important, the reef is close to the Island, you can reach it easily. A special note to the Museum, here you can know the history of this Island and to the Garden, a small paradise in paradise. What else....thanks to all the staff for giving me such a great stay at Nika!

We just got back from Nika.

We were on family vacation with my husband and three kids (4, 7 in 15).
We were in a family deluxe beach villa.
It was a first visit on Maldives for the children and the eleventh Maldives island for me. But we were all the first time on Nika🌴.

Nika has a very special atmosphere based on privacy with true traditional Maldives spirit, with a great food and a large selection of wines.
Villas on the beach have a great location with their own privat beach on beautiful lagoon and nice airconditioned accommodation based on traditional arhitecture with all necessary equipment.

On the island is nice beach bar with beautiful view on the lagoon, modern dive center, spa, museum, shop and resort restaurant.

In one word I can describe Nika as PERFECT and I can only recommend the island.
Go to Nika and enjoy the Maldives barefoot in a true Maldivian way.. We will definitely come back again🌴.

Nika style is a unique and different way of experiencing Maldives based on relax, privacy and ocean-related activities. We have spent part of our honeymoon in Nika Island staying 4 nights in a Garden Room and 4 nights in a Deluxe Beach Villa. While the Garden Room was comfortable, clean and accessorized the Deluxe Beach Villa with its private beach was simply mind-blowing. The Deluxe Beach Villa features included: Private exclusive beach accessible from the villa facing the reef, Jacuzzi on the beach, indoor and outdoor shower and plenty of space in each room.
Annalisa and the Staff helped us since the first minute with kindness and enthusiasm, letting us feeling at home. All around the island there is sand, meaning that you can go in any place by bare foot increasing your feeling of freedom and relax.
The restaurant cuisine was great with flavors and plates coming from different corners of the world and each night a pleasant "Aperitivo" was served in the beach facing the reef and the sunset with new daily cocktails very tasty.
Finally, the activities offered by the resort are different and very well organized and they were worth every dollar spent: we went snorkeling around the island, with mantas, with turtles and with whale sharks. All these experiences were unique and incredible, also thanks to Ali who guided us step by step in the ocean to meet such beautiful animals.

The hotel is located near the international airport, 20-30 minutes by seaplane. The island is private with its own interesting history, with its own museum, garden, spa, gym, local pets. There is a very varied, delicious, Italian food, as for lunch and dinner we chose it from the menu. The island has a polite staff who remembers and takes into account all your individual characteristics (for example, they gave us twice as many beach towels each time, as we asked). Communication with the staff can be maintained via the WhatsApp, it is very convenient. Many speak Russian well. Special thanks to the girl - Halima, who was always in touch, helped with everything and solved any issues that might arise. She treated every guest with great love and care. Around the island there is a reef with a rich underwater world: turtles, sharks, fishes. Here we found spacious rooms with everything you need, with a separate exit to the beach and the necessary infrastructure. There is a concept of no plastic, for which special thanks. Despite the restrictive measures due to the pandemic, there was enough entertainment on the island. Soon we would like to come back again

It was our 7th trip to the Maldives and so brilliant for us that we will be repeat offenders with Nika for 2024. It was 12 days to recharge the batteries. Peace, pure peace, if you want it. We had a water bungalow which was on the sunset side, fantastic. We also had a look at the beach bungalows and realized that these would have been something for us too. We really liked the style. We particularly liked the privacy in all room areas. But what impressed us most was the sustainability of the hotel concept. Plastic-free!!! Drinks are served in glasses. The drinking water for the rooms is also made in-house and filled in glass bottles with snap caps. The rooms are cleaned twice a day and everything is prepared to make you feel good. We can only report on the kitchen based on our taste buds, as everyone has different tastes. For us, the sustainability here was also very impressive. There was always enough fresh and homemade food. The buffet was adapted to the number of guests and always available in sufficient quantities. For us, the food was always great and we enjoyed it. But again, everyone has different tastes.

Unfortunately, coral bleaching is visible here too, but they are trying to counteract it by "reforesting" new coral stocks.

Hi. I understand you can’t walk around the island, isn’t that restrictive?
Answer from Orchid4841
United Kingdom457 contributions244 helpful votes
As all the villas have private beaches, it is not possible to walk around the island at the shoreline. However there is a path encircling the centre of the island and the jetty, if you wish to take a stroll. Personally, we don't find this set up restrictive, as it's a good trade off for privacy on your own area of beach.
