Beautiful resort with the best restaurant in the Maldives without a doubt. The chef Wasantha definately knows how mix flavours and textures making all our lunches and dinners a great culinary experience. Also very friendly and professional restaurant staff who took care of us in every detail. Irfan and Imran thank you for everything, we will be back!

Stunning and luxurious upscale hotel at a private island. The beauty of the island is breathtaking, the service is impeccable and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. This resort is worth the price tag and more. We were half board and although the extras ended up costing more than we expected we were very pleased with the buffet food. Especially if you like curry and Indian food then this will be heaven for you. You can walk around the entire island in 10 minutes so this resort on the smaller scale. However, for a few days it’s nothing but boring. The infinity pool is gorgeous and we especially loved the private pool at the water bungalow. There is also a sunset lounge were you can sip on cocktails while watching the sunset. We also brought our snorkels and had fun watching the fishes.

Excellent services starting with the reception where everyone is nice, continuing with all the employees who take of our room which are impeccable, we have nothing to complain. The exotic vegetation makes you feel like in a fairy tale. Five dining venues, each providing a taste of the exotic. Nothing would be possible without Master Chef Wasantha Devasurendra and his professional team. The food was simply delicious! We are grateful to Chef Wasantha for all his involvement in making us happy! Thank you to the Velassaru team for our dream vacation! We will miss you, but hope to see you soon!

We chose this resort over our usual island for a short trip of 4 nights over New Year's Eve. Overall the experience was fantastic ! We were met on arrival and whisked away on the large cruiser to the island, only 20 minutes, so quick. The guys were lovely and as the boat is air conditioned and we had water, it was a great journey. We chose the Velassaru Indulgence Package which covered lunch and dinner ( 3 courses each) and all of your drinks including alcohol. The VI package is marked on the menu and you can pay extra for certain brands. The quality was very good and most cocktails were included, the wine and beers were also very good. It also means you are not worrying about the cost of everything as it is paid for up front, plus you can access all of the resort's many restaurants. The key point is that there are a good selection of restaurants to choose from. We enjoyed the Chill Bar for tapas lunch at the north of the island, exactly as it's name suggests. Sand was excellent for fish and meat and The Teppanyaki over the water was just amazing. The daily restaurants and bars also serve a wide choice of food. So we were never bored of the food options at all. We booked an over water bungalow and were impressed by the layout and size of the room, plus the decking and steps to the sea. Also handy was a fresh water shower for when you came out. There is a good mini bar, plus Nespresso machine and tea etc. If you book these, request for a south facing villa, so you will get the sun and not have the view of the 'Rubbish island' in the north, which is constantly burning refuse. The toiletries are L'Occitane and refillable which is sensible, not messing about with small bottles etc. Also worth noting is that they have 'Netflix' on the tv so if you have the desire to watch something, there is a lot of choice. The wifi was excellent throughout the resort also. My husband went scuba diving and rated the Dive centre, very professional with excellent equipment. I also did a snorkelling trip which was excellent and worth the USD$ 50. We had an hour in the water. I also tried the spa which was lovely. I had the 2.5hr package with scrub, wrap, facial, hair treatment and massage. Well worth it ! As we stayed over NYE, we had to sign up for the Dinner, however this was a sumptuous affair across 3 of the restaurants, with an enormous buffet. You were able to pre-order any wines/champagne prior to the evening and it made things a lot easier. There was a band playing and they moved on to the beach where they had tables set up etc. Plus a DJ into the early hours. Very well organised overall. I wanted to comment on the staff, they were always so friendly and accommodating - we had requested a late check out as leaving at 3.15pm and they agreed to 1500, which meant we almost had a full last day. We also were able to use our package on the last day to cover lunch. Also whilst the resort was full and lots of children, it didn't feel crowded at all, which is another plus point of the large size of the island and number of restaurants. All of the covid protocols are followed well and we felt comfortable overall. All in all, I can't say anything negative about the resort, the only point I would make is that you are given two large bottle of water in the room, could do with more, however it is easy to ask housekeeping to give you some extra. We will be back!

one can only dream to spend days in a luxurious atoll with secular vegetation , white powder beaches , crystal blue water but most of all services that you cannot find anywhere. The restaurants are pharmacy clean 24/h , the food would satisfy the most gourmet tastes. You can find whatever your imagination can produce, Asian , Japanese, teppanyaki, European , pastas with lobster , variety of meats and for sure the local catch of the day. Superb ! The villas are comfortable , the service impeccable. All this is thanks to a fantastic management team , at the reception , on the restaurant, F&B manager has to be a magician to bring everything on the atoll. Chef Wasantha and his team are producing gastronomical wonders. The New Yea Eve was probably the most memorable we ever had, great music, dancing in the sand , carrying waiters. When the world was struggling with the virus we had the most beautiful time of 2020 in Velassaru. Thank you Marj and your team
