Medhufushi Island Resort is a heaven of peace and relaxation. An air of tranquility pervades the idyllic island which is adorned with shady coconut trees and tropical flowers. Surrounding the island is a spectacular lagoon in shades of turquoise and shimmering azure blue. If you want to get away from it all and experience affordable, laid-back rustic at a Maldives resort, you can’t find anywhere better than Medhufushi Island Resort. As one of just two resorts in beautiful Meemu Atoll, you are far from the noise and congestion of the modern world. But you’ll find all the comforts of home available in our spacious and attractive villas, which come with a private sundeck and traditional Maldivian swing chair. There’s no better spot to watch the gentle waves together than from the shade of your ‘udoli’. Our exclusive lagoon suites offer the ultimate in seclusion at Medhufushi; the two spacious over-water suites are accessible only by boat. The distinctive Maldivian atmosphere is evident throughout the resort, from the warm and welcoming staff to the where traditional charm unites of each property and the sandy floors of the restaurants. Venture even further into the realm of nirvana at the in-house spa. The spa is built upon stilts over the sparkling lagoon. The combination of the soft sound of the waves and the expert touch of the massage therapists is guaranteed to send you into a state of pure bliss. The warm shallow water and pure white sand is a delight to experience but there are also all kinds of activities and experiences available for you and your loved one to enjoy. The secluded location ensures that the surrounding coral reefs and dive sites are virtually pristine, with intact and healthy corals and an abundance of aquatic life. Divers can discover a host of exciting and wondrous dive sites where manta rays, turtles, reef sharks and all manner of tropical reef fish can be found. The Werner Lau Diving Centre’s team is on hand to help you learn and discover.

Medhufushi Island Resort is frequently lauded for its cleanliness, with guests consistently noting the pristine rooms and immaculate beaches. While the staff often receives accolades for their friendly demeanor, some visitors have encountered issues with service quality. The resort's atmosphere strikes a balance between relaxation and festivity, offering both a tranquil environment and lively entertainment like karaoke.
The accommodations are generally well-received, although opinions on space and style vary. The picturesque location is a highlight for many, yet some suggest that the value proposition could be enhanced, pointing to the steep prices relative to the services provided.

Detailed Reviews
Just returned from a seven night stay on this island, it was absolutely idyllic, the staff cannot be faulted, the service they provide is excellent, Nazrul, Sanjat, Mohammed and the villa attendant especially. We stayed in a water villa No 132, it was amazing, your own access into the lagoon where you can snorkel, except at low tide, we saw reef sharks, turtles, eagle rays, sting rays and loads of fish. Did the resort dive - one dive accompanied by a qualified diver it was worth every penny $145, these divers are excellent professionals, would really recommend it. Food - plenty of choice, lots of it, cooked to perfection, food area spotless, breakfast, dinner and lunch every day and cannot fault it. Paid for a meal in the Vilu Bar restaurant, two fillet steaks, two wines, four beers, fantastic view, quality yet again, faultless,$80 for two people. We thought the all inclusive was good value, it does not include premium brands but this is no different than lots of other resorts. The maintenance staff work tirelessly at re roofing the villas, they did 4 while we were there, at the end of the day this is a small maintenance team on a desert island, they cannot do everything all at once. Everything was very clean, we would not hesitate to return. Stunningly beautiful island.

I traveled to this resort for my honeymoon. We traveled by indigo flight, which was a pain since the time we booked the tickets. Flight rescheduling, delays, ill mannered staffs we faced them all. We reached MLE airport by 10.30 am and were scheduled for our seaplane at 1.45 pm, wasting a couple of hours due to scheduling issues between TMA and Medufushi. (TMA do provide a complimentary lunch.)Not just that the scheduled flight got canceled and after a long arguments with seaport staff they managed to schedule our flight at 3.30pm. Well, seaplane travel is one thing to experience. After all the delays we reached Medufushi island at 5.00pm.. we were allotted rooms by 5.30pm and we asked to freshen up and be at Vilu bar for snacks. But when we reached there by 6.30pm we did not get any food other than fried peanuts and coffee because the snack time is only till 6.00 another mismanagement by the Resort staff and we ended up paying 252$ (1 day AI package cost for 2) just for 2 coffee, 1 bowl of peanuts and dinner.
Things went well from there and we started exploring the beauty of the restaurant, nice food, well behaved and friendly staff (except their Admin manager who seemed to be drunked and was rude during our discussion regarding a free excursion in package). The Dhoni staff is also very cooperative. You will find all types of food but do not expect authentic taste and spellings for it. Lol. Rooms were nice and clean. Water sports are a bit expensive but you could share your life jackets and save 6$ if you dont know swimming and if you know to swim then do not bother. (We didn't know swimming but still we enjoyed at the water sports and activities everyday.)
The environment is absolutely pollution free so please try to maintain it as it is. Overall it was a very good experience and we enjoyed the stay and our return by speedboat.
I have elaborated more on the bad experiences of my travel and stay so that you have those expected back of your mind. So to summarize,
Stay, food, activities, people everything was great.
Just beware of those few senseless Indians who misbehave and do not follow basic etiquettes while in resort with many others around.

my friend and i stayed at this resort for 6 nights and we had a great and relaxing time however this resort could do better!
first off we decided to take a speed boat to the island which took almost 3 hours although we didn't wait long at the airport as someone was there to greet us and we got the boat straight away, i assumed the boat took a while due to the rough sea however this also took over 2 hours on the return even on calm so first off the boat dose not take approx 1.45 as quoted on their website!
on arrival we were given forms to upgrade room and package, we had the semi detached beach villa on a BB package we did decide to upgrade to all inclusive however the selection off cocktails is very limited so i wouldn't recommend it if you are into cocktails. the rooms we stayed in were lovely but could do with a revamp, i had a problem with a light and reported this to reception but it never got fixed, i found mold on some of my clothes from being put in the wardrobe draws and the sunbeds were very worn outside the villa with a wheel that was broken, my friend had a problem with ants in her toilet and pest control came on the day we were checking out. although we had these few issues it did not spoil our time on the island. the staff at the resort are all very friendly and rafeque at the bar was amazing and was there each day after snorkeling with drinks and snacks for us.
food in the restaurant was great and a good variety although for my friend she found most to be too spicy even though it was labelled mild. the waiter we had was great and very attentive.
there was not much in the way of activities but we were holidaying during covid so was to be expected. rooms were kept clean everyday and i liked the outdoor shower.
we went out on the snorkeling trips every day and also the dolphin watching both of which were great and the boat crew were also amazing. as for weather being in July and rainey season we had great weather with sun and a nice breeze all week.
I really enjoyed my trip to this resort regardless of some minor issues as the staff are what makes this place!

I stayed for 2 nights in a Beach Villa and another 2 nights in a Water Villa.
Both the villas were beautiful, well furnished and decently maintained.
The island itself is very beautiful and it has been kept quite clean by the staff.
We (my wife, 7 yr old daughter and I) landed around 12 PM by Sea Plane, and had to wait about an hour for the room to be made available (which is fine, since the official check in time is 2 PM). The checkin process was quite smooth and well managed.
The transfer from the Beach Villa to the Water Villa as well as the Checkout process was smooth.
Nothing to complain about there.
But I could sense easily enough that service had suffered due to covid resrictions. No room service was provided, however urgent it mught be.
Also, the service provided to fair-skinned tourists seemed distinctly preferential.
During meals, the staff kept hovering around them, while the other tourists had to make a real effort to get noticed. It might be a directive that has been passed on to the staff by management.
Also, some of the policies were quite petty. I was on a Full Board meal plan, not the all-inclusive one (since I and my family were not regular alcohol consumers). This meant that at lunch and dinner, we could not even get juice or soft drinks without paying exorbitant rates for them.
Only 1 bottle of water was provided in our room per day, and I had to pay an extra 3.5 USD for another bottle every day. And the water wasnt even packaged drinking water; it was just desalinated water filled in an unsealed bottle.
There was another very unpleasant incident I saw happen in front of my eyes. An Indian tourist was complaining at the reception that the snorkelling equipment he had been provided was faulty, due to which his snorkelling experience was spolied. By the way, the equipement is rented out for 17 USD for a day. The Diving Center guy absolutely refused to listen to this tourist and he was downright abusive towards him. Having used the snorkelling equipment myself, I can confirm that the tourist's complaint was a valid one, I had faced the same problem. But regardless, I was shocked to see a paying customer being treated so horribly, and none of the other staff members did anything to stop it.
That incident basically decided that I would never return to Medhufushi.
To conclude,
I loved the island and the cottages. And the snorkelling, dolphin watching and line fishing excursions were also very good.
But I was rather disappointed by certain aspects of the Service, specially the seemingly discriminatory nature of it.

Arrived by seaplane which takes 40 minutes We opted for a water villa which was very spacious and very clean. We had our own aquarium just down the steps into the sea!
The resort is small, there is one restaurant and one bar. Both were really nice, however it was incredibly hot and humid as they are both outside, they have ceiling fans but they did not really cool anything down. I thought the food was very good with a nice amount of choice. My only complaint was that the salad and desserts section in the restaurant were left out in the extreme heat so I avoided them, the rest of the food was fine with plenty of choice.
The water villas had 10 bottles of soft drinks which were replenished every day depending on what you had taken. There was always filtered water left as well.
The pool area was nice. There is no bar but there is a waiter patrolling the pool area to get your drinks. My only concern with the pool area was that for some reason they allowed glass bottles and glasses around the pool and there was loads actually on the edge of the pool which in my opinion was an accident waiting to happen.
All of the staff at this resort were very welcoming and friendly. Ali, the room boy was excellent. Kris in the Vilu Bar was brilliant and made sure we were never short of a drink or 3!
Yes there are more expensive and bigger resorts in the Maldives, butmy stay here. was great Maldives are truly stunning, the ocean is crystal clear and the staff at this resort are simply wonderful.

Myself and my wife stayed here for 10 nights for our honeymoon. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this resort. All the staff are very friendly and always go out their way to make sure we were happy. In particular Simon who used to service drinks during the day and sort the sun beds always worked with a smile. Our house keeping guy called Shaheen was great, always cleaned our room nicely and was always so polite and friendly. Juan who worked in the restaurant making the omelettes and fresh naan’s was fantastic; always making conversation and making sure we are enjoying the food etc. Humaid, Rony and Haseem were a few of the waiters who we noticed always smiling and we’re very quick to come to us every single time we sat down so they could take our drink orders.
The rooms would do with renovating and are a bit old style, the shower was not the best… lacked any power and was more of a dripping shower than a normal powerful shower.
The food choice were good but the vegetarian choices were very repetitive for breakfast/lunch/dinner so after a few days we did raise this issue as my wife is a vegetarian. Since then Humaid in particular used to ask us each time we went for food what we would like to eat and they would make a small portion for my wife. They really went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied and could not fault the staff in anyway they tried their best.

We have just returned from Medhufushi Island Resort, we went for my wife's birthday celebration, we were met off the sea plane and Novi straight away wished her a "Happy Birthday", we were taken to our water villa and found the bed to be dressed with a beautiful "Happy Birthday".
The holiday was about to begin, the water bungalow was lovely but was south facing on the left side of the walkways and we only got the sun up until 1 o'clock, I would say the snorkelling was better on this side of the water bungalows, but if you are seeking the sun throughout the day and to see the sun rise and the sun set from your water bungalow then the water bungalows to the right hand side of the walkways would be better, but these bungalows are not as private on this side. Our room was kept beautifully clean by Basheen, if we needed anything we just had to ask him and he accommodated us quickly with whatever we needed at the time. The staff on the island were always so pleasant and were so polite when you were walking around the island, even the ladies in the morning brushing the leaves away on the sand pathways were very polite.
The food was excellent, far too much and the choice was excellent at every meal time. Our waiter was Sajjat and he was so lovely and so attentive at our meal times.
He arranged for a special birthday table to be set up and a birthday cake, he realised my wife did not want a lot off fuss for her birthday so he quietly brought out the birthday cake for her, which she was very appreciative of.
The whole island is quite big and the snorkelling for someone like my wife who is not a strong swimmer was excellent I would say the whole of the island was okay for her to feel quite safe in the water.
The bar on the evening where the sharks were fed at 7 o'clock was lovely very relaxing and the bar staff were attentive and very happy to supply your choice of drink. Monika was lovely and made my wife different mocktails for her her to try.
The water sports on the island were ridiculously expensive, there was hardly anyone who hired anything, for example the jet ski was $300 for 1 hour. The spa looked nice but this seemed a little expensive too, I am sure if they charged a little less they would get far more business.
The sea plane was excellent, we got there quickly 45 mins approximately and it was ready and on time for our return.

I went with family to celebrate Wife's birthday (on 31st Dec) and was repenting on my decision to choose this property. Average 5 star property with very rude staff and poor services. You don't go 2.5 hours away from Male through speed boat on a luxurious private Island (paying through your nose) to receive such ridiculous treatment. The staff is rude, not courteous and seems not interested in serving customers. There were no towels around swimming pool, worn off racquets at TT table (& no other facility worth mentioning) and they had to be reminded to bring birthday cake (which staff was not aware of). Staff refused to deliver leftover cake to room & refused to even give a handbag to carry it ourselves. During early morning checkout, the packed breakfast was total 4 bread slice + 4 apples for a family of 4 people. Is that what luxury and abundance means. Having a beautiful location is not sufficient to charge exorbitant price unless the level of service leaves you with the feeling of pampered. The racial bias in serving Indian customers was very clearly visible & many Indian families/ honeymoon couples shared same view. While the location was picturesque, there are equally beautiful locations in Andaman-Nicobar Islands & Lakshadweep Islands at less than 1/5th price. The staff is mostly from Srilanka, Bangladesh and don't understand English to be able to communicate to customers and at every drop of the hat request guests to speak to Manager/Chef. I'm shocked by the level of hospitality offered to us during our 3 night stay and hope other hotels in Maldives are worth the price. A complete let down. For better experience on hospitality, come to India and stay in any 5 star !!

Had the most amazing holiday in the resort. I liked how they have a dedicated server for every guest and they look after you so nicely. I would like to recommend Aubi our server, very sweet and hardworking young guy. The resort is clean and well maintained and the beach is superb with beautiful clear water in which you can see the fish swimming.

Our experience here was an amazingly well spent holiday. The entire stay was so comfortable with friendly staff and a breathtaking location.
Mr. Gaurav made special efforts to ensure that we had the best facilities available and was very very friendly in answering and arranging special requests as I proposed my Wife here. I would definitely recommend talking to Mr Gaurav if you're coming from India as he is the island expert and can make your stay worth a while by making sure you get the best excursions available along with a hospitable stay.
The staff here is extremely polite and well mannered with an impeccable service and a warm smile. I would recommend anyone going here to book both beach and water villa combo as we did the same and the first 2 days we spent on the beach and the other 2 in the water villa. The beach villa is my favourite and if you are a water Baby just like my fiance is then water villa would definitely amaze you.
One more thing about this entire property is that it is very clean and well maintained and any requests are taken very warmly. We would definitely want you to try the speedboat, although it is a bit on the expensive side but definitely worth for a one time experience for a couple and it is guided as well.
Now talking about food, you'll get to taste an amazing variety of cuisines and for non vegetarians it is a paradise. You should always book for a full board meal while making the reservation as ordering per meal basis might get a little costly.
The Vilubar is also a must try experience as it is between the island and you can enjoy your drinks watching the sunset and a beautiful ocean horizon in front of you. Do try the nachos with mexican cheese as a side as it was one of our favourites.
Overall it was a vacation worth every minute and everything from the location, dining, hospitality to the service is a perfect 10/10. My special appreciation for Mr Gaurav again as he is one of the most helpful persons in the admin team to make sure the stay at this island is a memory worth having.

There is only the one bar which is split up into different sections. It's beautiful to sit there at night and feel the light breeze while having your drinks. There is a pool table and darts board There also and they have different entertainment at night. The dining hall is buffet style and caters for all the different cultures that go there. Gut absolutely paradise there
the flight is 45 mins aprox can be up to 3 hours by speedboat depending on weather
