my wife and me Rescue and dive master arrived in January 2021 on the island. we went to the dive center for check-in but there was only 1 dive master telling us there are no boats no house reef dive and too less dive masters. we even sent an email to the dive center 3 weeks before arrival in order to get a confirmation, (what we got), that the center is open and offering full service as we especially came for diving. after many discussions we decided to leave the island after 2 days. as food was not really what you can expect from a Maldives resort. other all incl. guests were loud and drunk in the morning already. ok we spent more money to stay on the other island but it was every cent worth. if you want to make cheap maldives holidays this island is may good...

I can say that I am very happy with my experience at Fihalhohi. The food is really good and diverse, the service is awesome and friendly, the room is better than in the pictures and the highest point is that the beach is amazing. If you are looking for really beautiful beaches, water and friendly reception in the hotel and excursions, I really recommend it. Super worth it! The only things to be improved: change the Nescafe coffee for the natural one and improve the WiFi quality!

-we booked via an agent and I specifically asked if we could pay in euro cash. He said it was no problem and confirmed that there would be no commission. When we got to the resort they charge in fact about 10% commission. Given that we took a water villa this means that they tried to scam us for 4-500 euro. - they mis communicated the breakfast times. The leaflet they gave us listed that breakfast was until 9:30. When we arrived at 9:20 they said we were too late and got kicked out. They referred to other opening hours - in the evening the manager of the restaurant asked us when we were leaving and we were still finishing our desert! When we left they bromptly closed the door behind us ! - watersport center was closed for several days. Afterwards we found out that someone had Covid and that was the main reason for closure. However, there was zero notification. When I called reception they said they d send someone but then nobody came. Then I headed to the dicing center at 12:20 but it was closed (despite their opening hours were until 12:30. - rooms were not always cleaned twice per day despite it being one of their policies. - when we wanted to check out we asked whether they could give a refund as we did not want the ferry back for which we paid already as another hotel could pick us up from the resort. The employee called his boss and said it was not possible cos of Covid which is a lie and he was even laughing in my face. - I asked reception to change the water villa. They said come at mid day. At mid day they said come back at 15h. At 15 h they said come at 22h ! I couldn’t be bothered anymore and neither did they follow-up from their side - concierge does not know anything and needs to call their boss for approval on almost every question - an embarrassing event happened with another guest as I was sitting in one of the beach chairs. I presumed these chairs were part of the common area. Apparently it was not and a lady was upset that I was sitting in her chair. This was never communicated by the hotel!

After missing out on our trip last Christmas because of Covid, we rescheduled a five day trip to Fihalhohi in December 2021. What an awesome place! The vibe was so relaxing as soon as we arrived - someone was there to take us to the resort within minutes of us getting through Customs. When we arrived at the resort, we immediately felt at home. The island is small...so small in fact that you can walk around the whole thing in around 15-20 minutes. But that is what makes this island so charming. The snorkelling on the north side of the island was fantastic. We mainly chose this island for the house reef and it definitely didn't disappoint. Make sure to check the currents though as we found there to generally be a fairly strong current pushing you from the sand bank on the east side of the island, towards the water bungalows on the west side. That meant that we often did a 'drift snorkel' along the drop off (where the house reef drops down into the blue). We would then swim into shore when we got to the water bungalows because the current starts to pick up more. The house reef was exceptional though. We saw several reef sharks, guitar sharks on the sandy 'sand bank' area, moray eels, a stingray, turtles, loads of fish, and even an octopus. Just awesome. Watch out for the titan trigger fish though as we got chased off the house reef on one occasion by one that was being very defensive! We also did the manta ray/dolphin spotting trip and it was UNBELIEVABLE! For 55 USD, you get the chance to swim with mantas. The dolphins were very skittish and they swam away generally whenever anyone tried to enter the water. However, we got kitted up and ready for the third attempt and got into the water as soon as we could so that we had the best possible chance to see them underwater. We were lucky and we had an incredible 2-3 minute swim with the dolphins, watching them underwater swimming in their pod. Just unbelievable. The food on the island really surprised me actually and I thought that it was superb...especially lunch and dinner - a huge variety and everything was delicious! The beach bars were great and there was such a relaxed and chilled out vibe there. The staff made an effort to provide entertainment at 9.30pm each night which was nice. Perhaps the DJ needed to read the cliental a bit more though at times because the average age on one night was about 60 years old and he was playing current clubbing music! Apart from that though, all was good! :-) We would DEFINITELY come again, mainly for the brilliant marine life and chilled out vide at the bars. Make sure to take a walk down the jetty at night and keep your eye out for sharks off the jetty. We saw some big nurse sharks hunting in the evenings there from the jetty. Really cool! A place definitely worth visiting. Thanks Fihalhohi for a fantastic holiday!

I recently got married and wanted to go to a relaxed natural resort in the Maldives. So I booked this resort, as it looked beautiful, they mentioned that all was well until we made the payment through our agent. Our trusted agent called them to confirm the speed boat times and they said that they are no longer accepting locals from Male due to an hpa regulation because there are covid cases in the resort. This morning we checked with hpa and this was a blatant lie. We know that in the Maldives locals are not treated the same as foreigners, we are used to that. But they took our money and then just cancelled us like we are worthless ! This is not right.
