Getting there: The transfer from Male airport is quite seamless and I highly recommend the seaplane. I think it's totally worth it. We were greeted right after exiting the airport by someone showing us the resort sign and he immediately took us to the seaplane checkin. In less than 30mins we were already onboard the plane that flew us to the resort in about half an hour. The view from above is extraordinary. Location: AMAZING! The island is quite small but I think the size is just perfect for this type of holiday. It's very green compared to other islands we looked at before booking with Gangehi. There is so much vegetation and it's really diverse and well maintained by the staff. The beach is just stunning with a sandbar that extends to about 6-700meters on low tide. The reef is also quite well preserved. You have so much to see while snorkeling, and diving is an unforgettable experience for sure. Facilities: I would say that you have everything that you need. There is a gym, a spa center, a tv room etc. And the diving center is a must! Gil is such an amazing guy. Funny and very sociable but also a top professional. We have never tried diving before and we took the introductory course which was absolutely amazing. We saw so many beautiful corals and fish extremely close to the resort and the experience is of another level when compared to just snorkeling, so totally worth it and highly recommended. We also went on a snorkeling trip and saw the incredible mata ray from just 1 meter away. This was so amazing and unforgettable for us, I can hardly imagine how it would be to dive in other diving spots of Gil's. Rooms: We tried both the garden villa as well as the ovewater bungallow and both rooms were just perfect with amazing views. Cleaning was well done regularly. Food: The restaurant itself as well as the location, at the end of the pontoon make up for a really nice experience. And the food is really really good. Serving also top notch. Staff: Everybody was just wonderful. Very pleasant and friendly. Gil, the diving center manager is a really amazing guy and I honestly recommend spending as much time as possible exploring the wonders of the sea with him. Giorgio, the manager is also a great guy. Raju from the diving center, Armando from the restaurant, and all the other guys we interracted with were so helpful and nice. Amazing people which bring even more value to this place. Value for money: Top value for the money you pay here! We were there during the COVID-19 outbreak so we got a really good offer which made it absolutely great. COVID-19 stuff (for the current period): Nothing to worry about here. Staff wears masks and gloves and hygiene seems to be a top priority. The resort is opened and operates normally. We were just a few people on the island but everyone was really friendly and nice and I'd say we were even more lucky to visit during these times. Overall: The best place for a perfect holiday. Location, scenery, people, experiences, food, accommodation. Everything was just great. We usually prefer to go to places we gace never been to before when on holiday but Gangehi Island Resort is already on the top of our list for future holidays so I guess that says it all :) Last but not least, a special thanks for the tasty cake my wife got for her birthday. Such a wonderful surprise!

I booked for 10days for. Y birthday with my. Girlfriend and we enjoyed the boat trips and Snorkwling around the island and swimming even saw a turtle outside a beach villa, the feeding of the reef sharks every night at the restaurant (harmless) and the friendly waiters who also cooked Asian food for my girlfriend and good Italian influenced food for everyone. Also liked being with the guests, the restaurant is quite romantic and also good place to meet other islanders guests. Definitely recommended. I recommend not the garden via but choosing the beach villa.

This was our first time in Maldives and we chose Gangehi Island Resort since it was one of the first islands reopened after the lockdown and the experience could not have been better. We stayed there in September 2020 and totally forgot about the current COVID-19 situation during the whole stay. Giorgio, the hotel manager was very attentive and friendly, and made sure everything was fine from the very first moment. He also joined us on our dives, which deserve a special mention since the diving was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, much more than you can ask for. Gil, our diving instructor took us to the best spots around, where we could see stingrays, eaglerays, an insane amount of reef sharks and lots of wildlife around the coral reefs. We will never forget it. Snorkeling around the resort is also a must, you will never get tired of it and the only danger can be the sunburn on your back from not checking the time. We tried both the Beach Villa and the Overwater Villa and we got the best of both worlds. From the Beach Villa the best views are in the early morning, when you can see a gorgeous sunrise. On the other hand, the sunset from the Overwater Villa is stunning and you will end up watching it every day of your stay. The island is very small though, so in my opinion every room is worth it since you can reach any spot in the island in a few minutes walking on the beach or inside a beautiful garden. The rooms are clean and well prepared and room service was great. The same can be said from the rest of the staff: thanks to Manoj, Seelan, Rasheed, Hassan, and everyone else that made our stay even better than it was. We have also seen some "official" information from different sources which states that the island is closed. This is not true! The island is open and the resort is working so contact them in case you want to go, you will not regret it!

This was my third time in the Maldives, I have previously been to 3 other island resorts: Makunudu, Maafushivaru and Gili Lankanfushi. The Gangehi experience has taken place in the very particular coronavirus context. Therefore, we have been so lucky to enjoy the island almost by ourselves (the most we have been was 7 guests at the same time on the entire island, the first couple of days we were only 4 people). This situation made us a little bit sad (for the resort and the beautiful staff), but we were really happy and we felt so lucky to enjoy this island with almost no one around. Everything felt so intimate. The island is a typical Maldivian island, the villas (we were on a beach villa and the last 3 nights we moved to a deluxe overwater villa) are comfortable without being too fancy. The staff has gone out of their way to make us feel amazing. At the restaurant, they have prepared vegan dishes for us the entire week (from scratch), including curries, pizza, burger, ice cream, croissants.. I will be forever grateful to them for all the vegan food. At the spa, Som has spoiled us (especially me because I went 3 times :-) with relaxing massages that I wish were lasting forever. At the reception, the boys were always kind and helpful. Gilles the diving instructor has made my partner happy by introducing him to the underwater world. He has kept us company on some nights and we have really enjoyed his friendship (and the hotel manager's too, who took time to talk and be with us a couple of times). We were really happy with the cleaning of the room as well. Moreover, we were allowed to check out late (3:30 pm) without having to pay any extra. Yes, the island is almost empty, but they could have still charged us extra. We appreciated the gesture. We have spent such an amazing time in this peace haven. Thank you so much for everything.
