Detailed Reviews
Acuali is honestly the best place when it comes to resting and nature. This place is surrounded by positive energy. Mauricio and Sora were so kind and nice to us all the time. Breakfast was delicious every day. I had the best time there and its only a 10 minute walk from the beach. I highly recommend this place and would love to go back.

We love this comment Mariana. This is was thought when we decided to convert the property into a hostel, a place where you can have a connection with nature and have the best rest possible in Capurgana. Thanks a lot for your review.

Acuali is a small oasis in Capurgana. The place is very green surrounded by jungle sounds. So nice to wake up by the sound of birds singing. It's only 10min walk from the centre, on a decent path. You'll be away from the noise in the centre. Mauricio and Sora are the nicest people. You can ask them anything and they know the area well. Breakfast is good and sufficient. There's also a shared kitchen to use. Highly recommended!!

This hostel is set in a beautiful garden outside the main part of Capurgana - a good thing as the main town can be noisy, especially at the weekends! We loved the natural showers, the lovely garden and the birds and monkeys who came to visit. In the end we stayed for a week, on our way to Panama. Owners are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

We got excellent service at Acuali. Upon arrival Mauricio was waiting for us and took us by taxi (which is a horsedrawn cart here of course ;-) to the hostel which is slightly outside the town centre. This is perfect if you want to sleep during your stay, because in the centre you have locals trying to drown out each other's high powered audio systems ... It is also closer to the forest so the chances of seeing wildlife on the grounds increase. When we arrived we immediately saw a Toucan in one of the trees.
The staff was excellent, giving lots of advice on what to see and do, what not to do and what to avoid. We also just talked a lot about living on the island and the challenges faced by this community, how it is organised and politically led. Very interesting!
The grounds are very attractive. Lots of open space in the garden, lots of plants with birds and the rooms are spacious. The beds may a bit on the hard side, but still good with good mosquito netting. The windows of the building itself are also completely wrapped in mosquito protection. In 5 days we had 0 insects in our room.
Bathroom is semi open air, but that is good because closed bathrooms here would be covered in mold in no time.
It is a 5 to 10 minute walk to the restaurants and beach, but worth it. The area is not dangerous to walk back later at night.
The price is right for what you get and keep an eye on their website where they offer special promotions from time to time. You have to book directly for those and not use Booking etc ... We got a 2 for the price of 1 deal that way which was awesome

Fantastic little place tucked away in the hills of Capurgana. A little difficult to find the first time so do your research before. Once you know where it is it's an easy 5 min walk into town. The Hostel is ran by an amazing group of people. Very friendly and are there to make sure you have the best experience possible.

Although I came here during the pandemic while it was extremely quiet in Capurganá (there were almost no foreign tourists at the time), I thoroughly enjoyed my two nights here. It's right along a nature trail you can hike to the Panamanian border (once it reopens), and you're surrounded by jungle even though you have only a quick walk to town. The hosts were kind and helpful, and the facilities are rustic but comfortable. The made-to-order breakfast was terrific, and it was fun using the open-to-the-sky shower. I don't know if I'll ever make it back to Capurganá (it takes some effort and time to get there), but this is where I'll stay if I do.

Relaxed stay in a green environment. A friendly and helpfull host who made me very welcome. A decent breakfast included. I liked the buildings, especially the arty shower.
It's at the border of town but the center and beach are in 10min walking distance.

I went with my mom and sister and we had a great time there. Soraida was always kind and helpful with everything from our stay till the places we could have visited. We stayed at the share room and there was no problem with the other people who were with us. One of the best things is location far from loud places.

It’s a really nice experience, totatlly different from what you would expect from a regular hostel.
This is more like going-to-your-grandpa’s-country-house-in-the-woods type of thing.
Hosts are very nice, food is very healthy and tasty.
‘Copito’, the cat, is lovely. Lulu the dog is also very friendly.
The rooms are kind of hot but there is plenty of fans to compensate, so that’s something less to worry about.
Beds also have a mosquito net, so you don’t have to worry about mosquitoes/bugs while sleeping.
10/10 would go again.
