My family of 4 stayed here for 3 nights. First impression is they have their smoking couch directly next to the front door. Which was always full of smokers. Walk thru the haze of smoke and into a strong artificial "febreeze air freshener" type of stench to the front desk. You check in and sign a form that you won't leave any biohazard materials behind which I asked about and was told they have a large number of people who come after surgery and bleed through. Gross. The hotel must of been an office building. Zero personality. They have two elevators that are probably the slowest in Miami, one of which never seemed to work. And the other usually had housekeeping on it and no room so you have to wait or take the stairs. The rooms are laid out super odd. There were 3 towels for 4 people. 1 roll of toilet paper. No wash cloths. 2 hand towels. They offer a $5 back to stay "green" but only one towel hook. So I guess these rooms are meant for 1 person. They also never bothered to clean the room on our 2nd day and when I said something the guy at the front desk just shrugged and could not have cared less. The A/C was set at 66 degrees but never got below 72. And it was ridiculously loud and not even a consistent humm but it rattled and sounded like it was going to die. We will not stay here again

I had actually made a booking at another property but then switched since the other property did not offer the free shuttle service to International and Dolphin Malls like the Aloft Miami Doral did. Also I liked the fact that the Aloft is a Marriott property so I can get my points. I do not drive in Miami and just wanted to go to Dolphin Mall and a regular mall with a Macys so the Aloft was perfect. I was also able to walk to the CVS - so the only thing I did not actually find was a Walmart (maybe I will look for that next trip). I found the shuttle to be very reliable and it operated to schedule - stopping at the Aloft and the neighbouring Element at 10 and 3 and then the last pick up at the two malls was at 7 on Sunday, 8 during the week. I was also on my way to a business trip doing some late night work so I found the 24 hour snack bar with coffee very handy for this. Also the front desk was kind enough to print some papers (for free) that I needed for my meeting but that I was having trouble printing. My only hesitation about the hotel was the "young trendy crowd" that it catered to since I am 55. However I was not into hanging out at the bar and I did see a range of ages in the hotel. However perhaps for the more conservative traveller (say if my parents were travelling) I would recommend the next door Element which was about $10-15 a night more, but had breakfast and was a bit more upscale and conservative than the Aloft However for my next shopping trip given the good rate that I got nd the free transportation to/from the Airport and to/from Dolphin and International Malls, I would definitely stay t the Aloft Miami Doral again and in fact have already recommended it to friends.

For the last night of our month long road trip around Florida, I wanted something a bit more special than some of the standard motels we had stayed in. Out of the 22 different places we stayed in during the month I ranked Aloft just outside the top 3rd at 8th overall. The reason it didn’t make top 5 was that it was expensive compared to other places of a similar excellent standard in which we stayed. At $191/£150 for the night it was by far the most expensive stay on our trip (next most expensive was $134/£108), and there is no complimentary breakfast which for the price of this place you would expect (but you can pay extra for one!) The property is easy to find (with a sat nav) has free parking, and is conveniently located 10 miles from the airport’s rental car returns; 2 miles from a couple of shopping malls and literally round the corner from M.I.A. Beer taproom. The hotel is trendy upmarket, and the room follows suit, very modern with a super smart black/chrome bathroom. All spotlessly clean with a large comfy bed and with the essential clean bedding and great sleep quality. It had a fridge and a coffee machine (crappy coffee though) but no microwave. The free WIFI had a sound connection. The hotel has a bar in the lobby and a nice looking pool but we didn’t get time to test that out. In terms of quality we would stay at Aloft Miami Doral again, but only if we could get a much better deal on the price!

I stayed at plenty of Alofts globally but the location at Doral had the nicest and most helpful staff by far. The check in was smooth and the front desk was very helpful and accommodating with my staff as it was for 11 nights and 2 additional rooms for a few days. The 4 main ladies at the front desk especially Esmeralda and the hound lady who was pregnant (sorry I don’t remember the name) went above and beyond. The bartending staff was on point and there are various happy hour specials at the bar during the week. Lastly, the on-site manager, Francina, was very helpful to accommodate my family and helpful when we had issues with the cleaning staff. We had a suite for our stay and my family had a normal room. The suite (pics attached) is VERY spacious and can sleep 2 in the bedroom and 2 on the couch, however, the couch does not turn into a bed. The standard room with 2 queen size beds is very serviceable although the doors to the bathroom is poorly designed (sliding door). The only reason I would give this hotel a 4 is because the cleaning crew is terrible. 3 separate days, the staff came after 4:30pm to service our suite. Twice they came after 5:15pm and when my fiancee asked them to come back as we were showering, they told her with an attitude that they will not come back since it's after 5pm (May 5th). When our room was serviced at a decent time, the room was still a mess (pillows on the floor, trash not completely picked up, soaps/lotions not replenished). Not good at all.
