We stayed here before and after a three day tour into the rainforest to see orangutans in wildlife. The hotel is nicely located between airport and city center. It is about a 2km walk to the yellow Palace and waterfront city. The walk along the street is a bit unconvenient but doable. There are no taxis at night so plan carefully. The hotel itself offers spacious rooms with AC. The rooms are a bit outdated from European perspective but I have seen far older furniture and bathrooms and far more expensive hotels in the US and elsewhere. For the price, the rooms are more than you can expect. Breakfast was included and offers mostly indonesian food. There is also a cafe/restaurant offering western food. Overall, we would choose this hotel again for a stay in the area.
Nice hotel, nearest to the Pangkalan Bun airport.. the room was so comfort. Good place for you before you run for the first flight on the next day. I recommend this hotel because the location is strategic and many food spot around the hotel especially in the night.
First of all PKN isn’t geared for tourists yet so all hotels and restaurants need to be judged lightly. Now saying that...the hotel provided a comfy bed with clean sheets as-well as a clean bathroom and towels. At the price point it has covered all bases. If you are looking for quality interior design and chic interiors, you are better off heading to Bali. This hotel has so much potential and the architecture of the wooden dyak style is pretty amazing. There isn’t much to do here so bring a book and sit in the lobby or garden. There is a great coffee shop to the right as you walk out from the hotel. Walking to town Centre isn’t really possible as it’s too far. Friendly front staff
We found this to be a fantastic value for money! Perhaps not the most luxury hotel in Pangkalan Bun (Grand Hotel Kecubung is considered the best, but definitely also the most expensive) but it is among the best hotels and for the price I think it is the best value for money. The rooms are spaceous, clean bathroom, hot water, AC, and the restaurant is also very good. For a 1 or 2 night stay in combination with an orangutan tour it is all that you really need.
Nice hotel with good food, ask, especially for battered prawns. However, smoking seems not to be prohibited in the hotel, so ask specifically for a non-smoking room. Local wood architecture gives an authentic look to the hotel.
A hotel with lovely ambience due to traditional style of architecture. Staff really nice and helpful. Breakfast was fine for the money (don’t compare with Bali). And agree that transport is expensive, but that’s not related to the hotel. I visited with a local and was able to ride on a motor scooter, so I enjoyed some sight seeing.
Just only about 15 minutes from Iskandar airport by car you arrived at the hotel. It was very nice with wood building Borneo cultural architecture and you will pick up by warm peoples that give you clear information about the hotel with the facilities. In the night you can stay at the Quizaz Cafe to hanging out with the live music and you can joint to sing a song both drinking of coffee and traditional meals.
This hotel was my second choice after Swiss-Bell inn. Turn out it was a good choice! the wifi is ok, the breakfast was ok, the staff was helpful. The room was clean and spacious for a deluxe/standard type.
Large clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bedding. The staff stored and kept our heavy luggage until after our koltok cruise which was very helpful. Indonesian food at the restaurant is ok, but staying away from western options is Best. Breakfast is a buffet with a good variety of Indonesian dishes but again as expected limited options for european or american breakfast. Juice is really terrible. A plus would be a mini fridge in the room. You can borrow a hair dryer from the reception . So globally we were satisfied.
Good basic hotel. We stayed one night prior to our excursion to Tanjung Puting National Park and one night after our excursion. The room is spacious and clean. Beware of hot boiling shower. Location is far from the city, about 3 km. The problem is there is no public transportation and taking taxi or car rental cost Rp.90k one way. Suggestion: hotel to provide free shuttle service to the airport and to the city center.
