We spent one night in this wonderful hotel with its beautiful views of the Seine. We had read about it some years before when it was in the hands of the previous owner. The junior suite (Room 1) turned out to be a vast room with a massive bed and a commanding view over the river. The area itself possesses... More

We did not stay at the hotel rather we reserved a table at the restaurant based on a friends recommendation. While the food was okay it was not what one would expect from a Michelin restaurant. We ordered a glass of champagne and a bottle of Rose’. The champagne came about ten minutes after ordering and although the wine was... More

I very much enjoyed my stay in the Chaine d'Or. The room was incredibly spacious and nicely decorated with wonderful views of the Seine. The hotel is in the centre of Le Petit Andely only steps from the Seine. We also dined in the hotel's restaurant. The food was absolutely excellent but unfortunately the service did let it down somewhat.... More

We spent a few days in Paris, then drove here. We used the hotel as a hub for a few sights in NW France. The absolute best meal in our trip!! Comfortable room with a lovely view. Enjoyed a walk around the town - along the Seine and through the village. We recommend this hotel

Add us to the list of repeat visitors. Here's what we love: First the setting. So typically French. Literally steps from the Seine. The castle of Richard the Lionhearted overlooks the hotel and town and is visible from some of the rooms. Other rooms overlook the Seine or the courtyard. Meals are taken in a beautiful dining room decorated in... More

La Chaine d'Or is in the magical Le Petit Andelys area of Les Andelys, right on the banks of the Seine and overlooked by Chateau Gaillard. Although they were still suffering from the effects of the recent flooding and the Dining Room was out of bounds, we still had a wonderful time. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully furnished... More

We stayed at this hotel with another couple whilst touring in classic cars. First I must say the setting is superb, directly on the bank of the Seine. The surroundings are also attractive and in the 'old town'. We arrived on a Wednesday, big mistake, as the hotel and restaurant appear to be virtually closed on this day. A gentleman... More

We stayed at the hotel to visit Giverny and it is ideally situated for this. The bedroom was lovely and spacious with a view over the Seine and a large and comfortable 4 poster bed. The hotel is quirky and old with suits of armour on the landings. There is a large secure car park. It is very nice and... More

We were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked this hotel and restaurant. After a trip to Normandy, we were looking to spend our last evening closer to Paris for the drive in the next morning, and we were intrigued by the castle ruins above the town. The owners, Stephanie and Olivier couldn't have been nicer. They go out of... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Chaîne d’Or gets her name from the history of the 18 th century, when the house was considered as a toll house. A large chain was crossing the Seine river between the rives and the island. Each boat that wanted to cross the river from La Havre to Paris had to pay a toll. The king was getting so much money from this toll, that people were telling that it was a “golden chain”. La Chaine d’Or has been successively an auberge, an hotel, and a coffee shop, just in front of the church, where men were meeting while their wifes were in the church. After world war 2nd, the Boirel family proposed a traditionnal cuisine, which was very appreciated from the local guests. Monsieur Boutineau went on with this tradition. Several years later, Monsieur et Madame Foucault, as new owners, decided to propose a gastronomic restaurant and with the help of the Chef, Monsieur Chevalliez, they obtained a Star from the famous Michelin Guide. When the chef left to buy his own restaurant, Madame Foucault sold la Chaîne d’Or which had a difficult time for a while.Today, Stephanie and Olivier Bicot, their team and the Chef Philippe Lallier are very proud to welcome you and to share their passion for the French gastronomy. ... more   less
