Add us to the list of repeat visitors. Here's what we love: First the setting. So typically French. Literally steps from the Seine. The castle of Richard the Lionhearted overlooks the hotel and town and is visible from some of the rooms. Other rooms overlook the Seine or the courtyard. Meals are taken in a beautiful dining room decorated in... More

La Chaine d'Or is in the magical Le Petit Andelys area of Les Andelys, right on the banks of the Seine and overlooked by Chateau Gaillard. Although they were still suffering from the effects of the recent flooding and the Dining Room was out of bounds, we still had a wonderful time. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully furnished... More

We stayed at this hotel with another couple whilst touring in classic cars. First I must say the setting is superb, directly on the bank of the Seine. The surroundings are also attractive and in the 'old town'. We arrived on a Wednesday, big mistake, as the hotel and restaurant appear to be virtually closed on this day. A gentleman... More

We stayed at the hotel to visit Giverny and it is ideally situated for this. The bedroom was lovely and spacious with a view over the Seine and a large and comfortable 4 poster bed. The hotel is quirky and old with suits of armour on the landings. There is a large secure car park. It is very nice and... More

We were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked this hotel and restaurant. After a trip to Normandy, we were looking to spend our last evening closer to Paris for the drive in the next morning, and we were intrigued by the castle ruins above the town. The owners, Stephanie and Olivier couldn't have been nicer. They go out of... More

Three couples stayed at this lovely hotel after a wonderful day visiting Monet's Garden. Stephanie was extremely helpful introducing us to the hotel and Les Andelys. She highlighted Chateau Gillard and its history. Additionally, she served us a wonderful evening meal - just perfect. The hotel would make a wonderful evening stop for car clubs as they drive along La... More

This hotel is just south of Rouen and not far from Monet's Giverney. We enjoyed our stay here, having already stayed here years ago. View from the hotel overlooking the Seine is very attractive. Simple but comfortable rooms. A traditional restaurant serving good food, which is a bit pricey. Dogs allowed. Car parked in the hotel's own closed courtyard.

I have wanted to stay in this divine little village for such a long time and finally did last October. Have always wanted at this hotel even though it has mixed reviews. It is a little tired. Not enough attention is paid in the upkeep of the rooms. Really needs some refurbishment. Just a freshen up would be something. The... More

The Hotel is quaint, authentic, comfortable and clean. Everything you need from a hotel... however, the price for the rooms is quite high for the standard, as the decor was old, the breakfast is not included (although it was just bread, butter/cheese and supermarket yogurt), and the service is just regular B&B standard... being in the country side as well,... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Chaîne d’Or gets her name from the history of the 18 th century, when the house was considered as a toll house. A large chain was crossing the Seine river between the rives and the island. Each boat that wanted to cross the river from La Havre to Paris had to pay a toll. The king was getting so much money from this toll, that people were telling that it was a “golden chain”. La Chaine d’Or has been successively an auberge, an hotel, and a coffee shop, just in front of the church, where men were meeting while their wifes were in the church. After world war 2nd, the Boirel family proposed a traditionnal cuisine, which was very appreciated from the local guests. Monsieur Boutineau went on with this tradition. Several years later, Monsieur et Madame Foucault, as new owners, decided to propose a gastronomic restaurant and with the help of the Chef, Monsieur Chevalliez, they obtained a Star from the famous Michelin Guide. When the chef left to buy his own restaurant, Madame Foucault sold la Chaîne d’Or which had a difficult time for a while.Today, Stephanie and Olivier Bicot, their team and the Chef Philippe Lallier are very proud to welcome you and to share their passion for the French gastronomy. ... more   less
