Rancho Santana, set serenely in the Southwest Pacific offers a collection of distinctive seaside experiences. Though little more than two hours from Nicaragua's capital city of Managua by car, the property has grown into a quiet community that enjoys purity, authenticity, and a somehow romantically rustic elegance. Both residential and resort, "the ranch" boasts over 2,700 acres of majestic land along two miles of shoreline which include five unique beaches. And while this paradise is the perfect setting to do nothing at all but sunbathe and stargaze, its remarkable range of terrain, unique climate and soothing coastal breezes make it a coveted destination for the more active and adventurous traveler. Tucked between the open sea and the immense Lake Nicaragua, "the ranch" has the distinction of being one of the only isthmuses on the entire Pacific Ocean. This unique geographical phenomenon creates gentle tropical breezes, which when paired with year-round warm ocean waters make the beaches' surfing conditions some of the most coveted on the planet. With the early sunrise, "shredders" of all ages and origins take to the breaks of Las Cinco Playas de Rancho Santana, which include some of the world's most vertical waves, providing both visual drama as well as world-class surfing. Lookers-on walk the water's edge watching the surfers dance across the waves while just yards behind them fisherman bring in what will be the evening's fresh catch in the clubhouse's renowned restaurant, La Finca y el Mar.

We were blown away at the accommodations, scenic beauty, amount of activities and service we received. We would love to bring the whole family back. We dined in most of the outlets, all were excellent.

We recently returned to New York City after an amazing week long vacation at Rancho Santana. It is truly a very special place that has not left our minds ever since. The property was developed relatively recently, but has an old-world feel and one never forgets they are in

We have visited Rancho Santana several times over the years and it truly is a spectacular and special place. I agree with other reviewers who are amazed when you say you are going to Nicaragua and they "bat an eye." The number one question I am asked, is "is it safe?" and my

My family and I fell in love with Rancho Santana in our first afternoon on property last March, taking in our first sunset over Playa Santana. Since then it is a place that we dream of when we are away, and always hope to return soon. Each trip this year we have traveled with

Recently took 3 of my girlfriends to Nicaragua to celebrate a recent retirement! We stayed in one of the most beautiful homes for 4 nights and my only complaint is that we didn’t have more time. Everything from the minute we were greeted at the airport to the day we left, was

We stayed at Los Perros and it is where I would choose to stay in the future. It is the perfect distance from the inn. We walked back and forth multiple times per day with our 7, 8 and 10 year olds and no one complained. If you choose a house you will need transportation to visit amenities. I don’t know if pools were heated but they felt great. Rancho santana really was most perfect vacay ever!

Hola Madison- I wanted to let you know that the resort is big - 2,700 acres with plenty of rolling hills (allowing for amazing views!). We 100% suggest renting a vehicle so you can visit all 5 of our beaches as well as the different spots around the Ranch (Surf Club, Horse Stables, etc). I hope this info helps! See you in April :)

For proximity to the hub of the ranch which is The Inn, you can stay at a casita, a villa or one of our new residences.

How are the beaches for kids ages 7 and 4? Will they be able to enjoy them??
There are 5 beaches on the property with each one having unique characteristics. If with kids, Los Perros seems to be the ideal. You have La Taqueria close by, you can buy sand castle toys at the Surf Shop and you can take one of our complimentary shuttles if you do not want to drive. Playa Rosada and Playa Escondida are feasible options too.

Hola, Yes, there is generally a large influx of children and families over the Christmas/NYE holiday. We have many great family activites and also a Kids Club where children can can do various cool activites while parents have some alone time. We are also very couple friendly. We can arrange couple massages or a romantic bonfire on the beach.
