We got good value for our money, we stayed with 6 people, 4 adults & 2 children for 1 night for only US$ 90. In that price we got dinner for 6 + 7 beers and breakfast in the morning. That's a very good price but I would happily paid a little bit more if the standard would have been a bit higher and even for this price things could have been better organised. I made a reservation via email & WhatsApp, that all went smooth and easy. I booked a family chalet for all of us together, 2 bedrooms with each 2 beds. On arrival they first showed us the wrong room, only after mentioning that we booked something else they realised what was happening and we were shown to the correct chalet. The chalet is a traditional wooden house from this region, very charming and I always love staying in them. It was clean, a bit old and dusty maybe but ok for us. 3rd bed in 1 room turned out to be a mattress on the floor. Dinner was tasty, very simple local fried rice & noodles and the menu had very little choice. They could have a bit more variation on it. But we were hungry and ate, enjoyed it with a couple of cold beers. We slept very comfortable, good mattresses and the cooler climate in Tomohon is always nice for a good night of sleeping. But.....early morning, just after dawn, staff started arriving for work. And I think right below our chalet was the meeting place, park place for staff motor bikes and a storage or so. I woke up because of 1 staff arriving on a motor bike and afterwards loud talking on the phone with her boy friend or father explaining when she left home. This went on for a few minutes and she left. I though I sleep again but the next staff member arrived on a motorbike taking something from the storage below or close to our chalet. Sleeping didn't really happen anymore after that. Breakfast was very poor, again choice from fried rice & noodles but also pancakes. The kids loved the pancakes which made my morning sunny and happy again. The coffee was good but other then that there was not much to enjoy. On check out I wanted to pay with my credit card. Turned out that only 1 lady new how to operate the credit card machine and she was taking a shower. So we had to wait 15 minutes before we could pay. We weren't in a rush so it wasn't an issue but this could have been handled much more professional. Overal we had a pleasant stay, the resort is beautifully situated, rooms are basic but ok, we had a nice warm shower but there was a clear lack of management. The staff tried their best but are just not trained well enough. But the price was right and if you are looking for a budget place in tomohon, dont have to much expectations than I can recommend this resort to you. Another couple was staying there with their young children and they were having an amazing time.

Great place to stay if you are looking for a good night of sleep!! The bed is great, the shower hot and the food delicious! The garden is beautiful and the staff was super friendly. We definitely recommend the local guide Adam! He knows a lot about the vulcano's and is a really experienced tour guide! The oil massage was also really good!

I contacted with Mountain View although we were not in the hotel because Lonely Planet says they are an experienced tour company. I had a very good first impression as the contact by mail was fluid. But, when we got there, we realized that the organization was a disaster. We wanted to go rafting. The organizer told us to go to Mountain View resort at 7.30am to explain us the rafting. She previously had told me that they would pick us in our hotel, but ok. We organized our own transfer to Mountain View. We needed to pack our breakfast and eat it rapidly on the way. But when we arrived, there was no one waiting for us. Almost an hour later, a car picked us up. The driver did not speak English so we received no explanations. At 9.00 am, we passed with the car in front of our hotel (!!). After a long and silent trip, we arrived at a place that was clearly run by another company. Nobody spoked English. They gave us the water vests and directed us to the boat. A boy told us how to row back and forth. Nothing else. After an hour of rafting without much interest, we returned to Mountain view resort. The tour was so expensive (875.000 IDR per person) that I wouldn’t have expected this low quality. I had some doubts about the trip next day, but again there was nobody in the resort to inform us. I contacted the organizer again to ask her some details, but the only information she was able to give me was already on the website (she literally transcribed the web content in her messages). It was quite obvious that she didn’t know the tours at all.

This is a nice place in a gorgeous environment, the rooms are wooden cottages with ample space (our cottage was two rooms) and hot water, and I can understand some doors not fitting its frame in that humid weather, but it is less acceptable to find beetles and creepers in every corner. I had to spray the WC seat with insect repellent in order to wipe out the many spiders therein installed. I guess that the good comments and appraisals that most guide books dedicate to this establishment are in relation to the location or the country standards. Maybe where it is this is among the best ones, but according to our experience they have way big margin to improve.

We stayed in the family cabin of the Mountain View Resort for 5 nights. We have 2 children, 2 years and 5 months old. The staff is very friendly and tried their best, but there must be better value for money places in Tomohon. We know the manager had just left his job, so maybe that was part of the problem? Cabins are infested with mice, some have lots of mould. Our laundry came back dirty - all white shirts are now grey and none of the stains were gone. Breakfast was often cold and at dinner they ran out of beer or certain food more than once. For the price you pay, this doesn’t compare well to other places we’ve stayed in Sulawesi. Sorry!
