On the Rocks was a fantastic place to stay and a great base for an overnight jungle trek. For two families (two sisters and their sons, boys aged 11 and 10), the family guest house was perfect and very affordable and a lovely place to relax. . Our overnight jungle trek (1 day trekking, 1 night camping beside the river...

We stayed here for 2 nights on either side of our overnight jungle trek. Our guide met us at the bus and lead us up to the guest house where we were welcomed with fresh juice and a beautiful view of the jungle. Our room was spacious and quite secluded from the rest of the rooms. Every meal we had...

On the Rocks is a beautiful guest house with very nice bungalows in a beautiful garden. It's more on a hill than on rocks but location is still great: close to the village center but far enough to be away from all the hustle and bustle (especially on weekends when local Medan folk is going to BL for relaxing). Super-friendly...

Husband and I stayed here for five nights after Christmas in 2016. We hired the waterfall room and other than some rather excitable visitors in the form of some monkeys it was very peaceful. Reading some of the reviews of this place I would like to share our experience. The flights we booked meant we landed in Medan very late...

My wife and I stayed here for a few nights either side of a treck organised by ON the Rocks. The accommodation is very comfortable. You have to bear in mind it is not the Ritz Carlton or the Savoy. It is on the side of a hill in a really remote part of the world. Wifi works. Beds are...

I joined an overnight jungle trek from On The Rocks while staying elsewhere in Bukit Lawang and had a brilliant time! Our guides were fantastic, provided great food to keep us fuelled for the walk and kept us entertained and interested throughout. The trek is a little challenging in places but not a problem even for those without much experience...

We stayed in the Waterfall Room with wife and adult daughter, they added a mattress in the room. Big room with wonderful jungle view. Nice porch with a hammock and chairs. Be sure you take them up on hauling your luggage up there, only cost about 4 USD, well worth it. We did a 3 day trek with Wong as...

My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights at On the Rocks and did a 1 night-2 day jungle trek with Putra. All-in-all, we had a fantastic experience. The accommodation at On the Rocks is great - uninterrupted jungle views (we stayed in the Bamboo room), delicious food and helpful staff. The trek itself was faultless - Putra was a fantastic...

My sister and I spent one night at On the Rocks and did a three-day jungle hike. On the Rocks arranged our transportation from the airport to Bukit Lawang and back to Medan. The vehicles were in good shape with air conditioning, although the road is very twisty for those of us who get motion sickness. We stayed in the...

Corinna and her husband run a good hotel/trekking operation. Rooms were reasonably priced, clean, and pretty decent mattresses. Low expectations for food in Bukit Lawang, so the decent food for breakfast/dinner at the guesthouse and on the trek was fine. On The Rocks' treks are the same prices as everyone else's but I do think our trek was better than...
