Indra Valley Inn is located in Bukit Lawang on the bank of the Bohorok River, only a three minute walk to the entrance of Gurung Leuser National Park. It offers riverside accommodation with 2 standard rooms and 4 new deluxe rooms (with hot water showers) which just finished in April 2016 and August 2017, respectively. All rooms have a beautiful view of the jungle and the river. Indra Valley Inn also has a tasty restaurant and offers wildlife trekking so guests can experience the Sumatran Orungutan in their natural environment. The owner Obiwan is a very experienced 3rd generation trekking guide. "Attention" We do not accept room orders if guests have ordered jungle trekking with another company, for some reason, our room only available for guests who book activities with us.

We had an amazing time at obiwan in bukit lawang. The accommodation is subject to European standards, was clean and the location right on the jungle river is unique. Obiwan organized everything for us: transportation, tours, shopping. He introduced us to various tours. He was always there for us and very friendly and courteous. We laughed a lot. Nice guy!
We also fell in love with the team for the jungle trip (especially Imran). We spent a night in the jungle with them and saw oran utans and other animals. That was an incredible experience. And you just have to love the guides. We had lots of fun. We also recommend a visit to the elephants.
Since our trip was unfortunately very short, we would like to come back sometime and explore the village more. The locals were very friendly and welcoming. This wonderful place needs more support! more support!

The tranquil and less crowded ambiance of the place greatly enhanced the meaningfulness of my jungle living. It's about a 15-minute walk from the public transport stop, but they offered a free pick-up service.
I originally booked for two nights but extended my stay to three because of the outstanding hospitality and warmth from everyone I interacted with. Each staff member made me feel truly welcomed and appreciated, making my stay exceptionally pleasant. The one day jungle trekking with one of the staff was also amazing and we saw eight orangutan.
One of my favorite things is enjoying breakfast at the river-front restaurant. Overall, it was a great experience. Highly recommended!

The rooms are very comfortable with a nice outlook over the river and rainforest. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. He's very helpful with organising tours and transportation as you need it. The food is tasty, prepared by the owner's wife, and very reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt very at ease here. Bukit Lawang itself is also lovely.

The owner of the place is very committed to making your stay as nice as possible. He was very helpful in organizing everything that I needed, from transportation to trekking. I had a wonderful, clean room overlooking the river. The place is quiet and within easy walking distance to many nice restaurants.

My stay has been very pleasant. The rooms are big and I had no problem in having the basic one. It is further away from the busier side of Bukit Lawang so it fits perfectly what I was looking for -- a bit of distance, quiet mornings, and closer to nature. Obiwan has been most helpful from the start up to helping me sort out my transportation to Lake Toba. Food is also good, and well as the jungle trek arranged. In the group, it was only the 5 of us staying at the inn. While the trek seems routine for most accommodations/travel operators, the way ours was handled was very satisfactory. Very careless, dishonest and inconsiderate owners. We booked a room, they confirmed twice, just a while before our arrival in the middle of the night they cancelled the booking. But they already charged money for the booking from my card! Now, they are completely unresponsive when we are trying to get the money back!

Our stay of several days was a delight! Beautiful guesthouse with an outstanding host who was very helpful. Also, the location was great. We even saw a orang-oetan across the river where the guesthouse is located next to. Unfortunately there was no possibility for having lunch or dinner and the bathroom was not the most convenient. But over all, a very plesant stay and happy to have met the people running it. We would recomment staying here.

Think carefully about booking here! The owner Obiwan wanted to force us to book a jungle tour with him. If we didn't, he threatened to cancel the accommodation.
After a few emails back and forth, suddenly no more answers from him. From the moment he realised that we didn't want to do a jungle tour with him. How could we with a small child? Before he cancelled us shortly beforehand, we'd better have done it ourselves. Other reviews show that Obiwan is merciless in his cancellations. In the worst case, they cancel a few hours before arrival, then you suddenly have no more accommodation and a lot of trouble getting your money back. This scam with forced bookings is becoming increasingly popular in Bukit Lawang, so please inform yourself in advance.
Nice location on the river, but not worth all the hassle. Look for accommodation with honest people.
