Me and 2 friends visited Greenhill in April and wished it could have been for longer! From the very first email right up until our drive back to the airport at the end of our stay the service was amazing. Having spent hours searching online for a reputable tour company to organise a jungle trek with we came across Greenhill,... More

This place is amazing. The location is perfect, the staff is great and the rooms with balcony, hammock and jungle view was fantastic. The food is really good aswell. We went on a trekking tour, arranged by the hotel and this tour was amazing too. Theres only cold water in the shower, but the river is so close and even... More

We stayed for 3 nights. Not long enough. We went on 2 separate treks. They were both fabulous. Our guides were professional, knowledgeable and very entertaining. The guesthouse is beautiful place, with fantastic staff. The food is very very good and the rooms are great.

We had 3 nights in Bukit Lawang. We chose Green Hill Guesthouse because of the owner Andrea who is a conservation scientist and thought we would be in good hands. What a great place. The staff were so friendly and our guides for the jungle Biak and Waldi were amazing. We are a family of two adults and two kids... More

It was so much more than what we expected and was amazing. Location couldn't be better. You are opposite the main jungle and 3 out of 4 days we saw orangutans from the tables in the guesthouse. The tour is not the cheapest in bukit lawang but for a good reason. The guides have great English and actually care about... More

I stayed at Green Hill for 5 days and did the 2 day discovery trek with them as a solo traveller. The trek was amazing, did the 'discovery trek' which involved going to two different parts of the national park including Bukit Kencur (beautiful untouched area of the jungle) and saw some wild orangutans who are not habituated to human... Staff is supernice and we had a wonderful room with balcony and nice view of river and forest. The bathroom is wonderful with water from the river. Food is excellent but VERY slow. We had yo chose other restaurants to get food in proper time.

Fabulous setting right on the edge of the jungle. Basic accommodation with nice cool shower. The staff are very friendly. What a blessed relief from Madan! I trekked for two days with one night sleeping in the jungle. A truly amazing experience. The treckking is pretty hard work but they really cater for your needs and will stop any time... More

Great place to base yourself to go trekking and see the orangutans. We stayed here for 6 nights and had the room at the top with great views and morning monkeys on the roof. The staff are also great with local knowledge and acoustic guitar playing. The fact th at the guides were ethically responsible was one the reasons we... More

Very nice staff, polite and laid-back. Tree-top-lodges with great view, looking at the edge of the green hilled jungle. Range of guided tours available and assistance on transportation as well. Sufficient website!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Green Hill is in the heart of Bukit Lawang village, overlooking the Bohorok river with amazing views of the rainforest, easy access to Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP) and only 10 minutes from the orangutan viewing platform. Green Hill was opened in 2008 and the new building was built by local craftsmen using a combination of wood and stones to create a very light and airy open plan space which has amazing views of the rainforest. The guest rooms at Green Hill are nestled amongst the treetops on the hill behind the restaurant: 2 double treetop bungalows (200,000 IDR), 1 triple bungalow (250,000 idr) and a chalet/family room (300,000 IDR) all have private bathrooms with bamboo shower and balconies with jungle and riverviews. There is also a budget double with a shared bathroom (100,000 idr) which is ideal for those on a budget. ... more   less
