Although we didn't stay at Green Hill, we ate at the restaurant several times. We stayed a total of 2 weeks in Bukit Lawang and I couldn't find a better rendang anywhere. When I came back to Australia I made it my mission to find a good one at home but haven't found one that comes close, even from the...

Visited Greenhill Guest house on more than one occasion on our trip to Indonesia, each time I was amazed. The rooms are beautiful, very comfortable stay and the food and staff were excellent. We booked 2 treks into the rainforest through the owner, and the tour guide was very informative and passionate about the jungle and wildlife, he knew each...

This was an amazing place to stay at and perfect for tours/food. I stayed there with my girlfriend and her son. We had an amazing time and took part in the jungle trekking/river rafting that the green hill offers. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Andrea the owner and her staff couldn't do enough for us. They were...

V nice accommodation with great views and fantastic staff who were ridiculously helpful and friendly! Also a great place to book your jungle adventures, with good, professional, English speaking guides. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, a true highlight of North Sumatra.

Stayed in double room high up in the guesthouse. Functional, comfortable room but with fantastic en suite shower room... open air views of the jungle :) Stayed as part of a small group and had two treks and rafting. Our guides really knew their stuff ...located orang utans away from other groups of tourists and looked after the children in...

We stayed two nights at the Green Hill guesthouse and one night in the Sumatran jungle on a trek organized through the guesthouse. We had a fantastic time on the trek that took us outside of the national park to a neighboring area where we saw orangutans in the wild. The night camp is pretty bare bones, and I would...

Very nice accommodation and staff. We went to a 2 days Jungle trip with the guesthouse and the guides barely spoke english, the night-camp was very spartiate compared to other camps we have seen on the way (mattress are 1mm and not comfortable at all, nobody slept well !), and more worrying, the guide were not professional : feeding the...

Dear Guest. I can state categorically that you DID NOT book trekking with us at Green Hill as ALL our guides speak very good english and they STRICTLY follow national park rules and DO NOT feed orangutans or any other wildlife. I have personally been trekking with all of our guides and can verify their performances. Perhaps you arrived independently...

We stayed here in July and had a fantastic time, so great that we went back a few weeks later! lovely rooms, great location and the kitchen makes tasty food (especially the vegetable fritters). The staff were all really friendly, and we booked a trek with Green Hill as well. We chose to stay at the camp rather than camp...

Everything excellent from start to finish. Easy communication with Andrea leading up to the trip. Arrived late at night but still had a warm welcome from the staff and it only got better from there. It is a great guesthouse staffed by even better people. Incredible view from our balcony, room is a simple wooden bungalow with everything you need....

What I loved about this accommodation is that it felt authentic and fit in well with the surroundings. We had an open air bathroom with cold shower but this just added to the experience of being at one with nature. (although I am definitely not a squat toilet convert!!) Our 2 day trek to see the Sumatran Orangutans and more...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Green Hill is in the heart of Bukit Lawang village, overlooking the Bohorok river with amazing views of the rainforest, easy access to Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP) and only 10 minutes from the orangutan viewing platform. Green Hill was opened in 2008 and the new building was built by local craftsmen using a combination of wood and stones to create a very light and airy open plan space which has amazing views of the rainforest. The guest rooms at Green Hill are nestled amongst the treetops on the hill behind the restaurant: 2 double treetop bungalows (200,000 IDR), 1 triple bungalow (250,000 idr) and a chalet/family room (300,000 IDR) all have private bathrooms with bamboo shower and balconies with jungle and riverviews. There is also a budget double with a shared bathroom (100,000 idr) which is ideal for those on a budget. ... more   less
