This hotel has a quirky and colourful PO-MO design with beautiful gardens and a definite feelgood factor, on a wonderful wild stretch of pacific beach. It was built by an artist couple who however no longer seem to own the place. Hence, it’s seen better times, and the place is managed in a rather mediocre fashion, rooms are showing their age, and the food is quite average. Aircon didn’t work and the hotel knew it when they put us in the room. Given that the place wasn’t full that’s quite unforgiveable in my view. With some management that wants to run a real boutique hotel this could be a wonderful place, but alas for now it seems to go downhill, but still charges 250USD a night.
My family and I spent 6 days at Alma del Pacifico and we did not want to return home. The property is gorgeous and tranquil. We often had the beach and pool to ourselves. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure that you have a comfortable experience. From the reception staff, to the restaurant staff and even the security guards. We felt at home and at peace. As much as we'd like to return and explore more of Costa Rica, I don't think we would stay anywhere else. We thank you for making our trip so memorable! Muchas gracias a todos y Pura Vida :)
We had another wonderful meal at this gorgeous, boutique hotel. General manager and excelent chef Fernando presented a new dish he will be putting on his menu: Beef Bourguignon. It is a well known dish but this one was the best I ever had!! As usual everything else was good too and with a nice chat with Fernando and his beautiful wife Laura, it was a great evening!
The whole family, varying from the youngest grandchild, 3, to the eldest of us all (me!), 74, is making a return trip. We are all thrilled to revisit a place I first saw in 2015. The colors, the shimmering glimmering beach (my sister painted a beautiful view of us walking down it amidst the reflective mirror finish that trailed behind us), the Manuel Antonio National Park (where we saw a S L O T H and all of us still talk about its non speediness). We also saw memorable views of mountains and the ocean. A Mangrove Boat Tour featured monkeys who often courted us for treats and the delighted and surprised looks on our faces as they "made friends" with us make we sure we will go again. Check out the Activities List -- I just found one called Waterfalls Explorer. Who doesn't love waterfalls in a beautiful country? I'm signing up! And eating the Chef's yummy food is something else to return to. Sitting shaded on the terrace is a peaceful dream and I'm thinking we need to order the traditional Mariscada feast for all 13 of us. The food is delicious and fresh. At Alma there is something for everyone. My son and daughter-in-law are both vegetarians. They couldn't come with us last time because of work, but wow -- there is an entire menu waiting just for THEM. Further, the oldest grandchild was in a highchair when I first visited, and she adored the kitchen staff and they her. Every single meal as soon as we sat down at our table, a bowl of beautiful fresh avocado, chopped just the right size for her, was brought. The staff waved at her to make sure she was happy. She blew kisses back. This is typical of Alma del Pacifico. The staff, starting with Fernando, the manager, welcome guests and are determined every visitor will have a perfect visit. We did! Splash pools and jacuzzis. The spa (I want a full Body Mud Masque -- have always wanted to try one and will definitely do it this time!). Adventures on the beach, the ocean, and on mountain hiking trails. Pleasant walks around the site and on the beach. A nap in a hammock. Enjoying the views from your clean and happy room, filled with Costa Rican splashes of color AND a comfortable bed. It's months away but I am ready! Pura Vida! Go if you can!…
My husband and I were married during the pandemic and postponed our honeymoon. I'm so happy we stayed at this beachside resort, it is very tranquil and beautiful. We found sand dollars on the beach, saved a tropical bird and spotted two Sloths 🦥 in the trees!!!!! Oh I also can't forget to mention that the resort has really amazing horseback riding along the beach ice was so exhilarating and romantic. I would love to come here again and bring some friends, its a must visit resort. Oh and I almost forgot, so we couldn't afford tge beach front rooms with the hot tub in it so we went with the garden room. Honestly I am not even mad, I love my privacy and for us honeymooners having our own private garden with walls was well appreciated.
