During pandemic time Lavalon is still welcoming guests with charming and generosity.

Edwin, the owner is doing a lot of effort to assure that his guest feel safe and clean without losing their comfort, like installing automatic system for washing hand with sensor. We've been traveling around in Indonesia during pandemic time and Lavalon is surely one of the hotel/guest house which provides such kind of automatic system. Rooms are air-conditioned, also with ceiling fan, hot water is really hot, bed is very comfortable with clean cotton sheets.

Lavalon can also provide great home-made fresh meals and juice, like squids in green sauce, grilled fish, etc. His mango juice is so tasty, fresh and light without adding extra sugar. As backpackers, we feel comfortable, welcomed and secure during our stay in Lavalon Kupang.

Lavalon is the original hostel in Kupang and still the best. The room is light, airy, clean with a large and comfy bed, window overlooking the water and excellent water pressure in the very clean shower. Option for AC or fan, we chose fan as the sea breeze is more than enough.
Breakfast is coffee and an omelet, but not the typical thimble of coffee and tired omelet found in most places, Edwin cooks a delicious, fresh omelet and the coffee in a mug (yes a real, big mug!) makes for a perfect start to the day. There is a book exchange library for those old school who like a hard copy book.

Edwin the owner has a wealth of knowledge of things to do in and around Kupang, and can arrange motor bike rental, help with boat tickets etc.

The location is excellent, close to Lippo mall, (IDR 3000 on a bemo or 5-10,000 with Grab). Old town and the night market are a short walk away, making this the perfect location for a stay in Kupang.

While this is a budget backpackers and we've paid more to stay in other places throughout NTT and Indonesia, we've never been as satisfied as we are with Lavalon. With booking.com and other online travel agents offering "cheap" rooms usually all you get is a room, but at Lavalon you get the room plus the all the services a visitor to Kupang needs included in the price. (And dont forget the mug of coffee in the morning!)

A must stay for anyone visiting Kupang, a place to recharge, relax and get the latest travel info and boat schedules.

I highly recommend Lavalon Seaview Hostel

Ive been staying at lavalon for the past 8 years now and love it here. Edwin Lerrick and the local lads are always willing to answer any of my dumb questions they must have heard a thousand times.
It is close to the night market which I would strongly recommend for the food and out right experience. If your knackered you can grab a meal here too.. I like the burger its such a novelty to eat a burger in kupang (im so white ha ha)there are a few places to relax and get away from the crowd or sit at the table of knowledge and tell some tales true or not over a cold beer.
I have stayed in a few places over the years and lavalon is hands down the best rooms in kupang clean clean clean. I stay in the seaview rooms but the budget accommodation is perfect for those trying to keep the rupiah in there back pocket come in sit chill talk

This place really offers everything a traveler could wish for. The beds are very comfy, the rooms are super clean, there’s aircon in the double rooms, solid WiFi, and the shower works like a charm (even with hot water, not that you’d need it in Kupang). But the most important thing about this place is the owner Edwin. He really is one of a kind and such a nice and honest guy. You can tell that he really cares about his guests. We had to leave at 5.30 am and he even got up to treat us to a delicious omelette. We really can’t recommend this place enough. You won’t regret staying at Lavalon and supporting this great local business.

Edwin is a very good host. He knows everything about Kupang and West Timor and can tell you lot's of stories about this place. He is also a former movie star from Timor and well known everywhere. He is also a great cook. His pancakes and noodles are so delicious! Try them!
His hostel has a good location from where you have the best view to the ocean. Ask for a hammock and you can enjoy the view lying there while reading a book. The rooms are cheap and very good. There is a dorm for 4 people, a room with a shared bathroom and two rooms with bathrooms included.
From the hostel you can go into the city by walk. Visit the shops around, have a coffee or go out for dinner to the night market.
If you go to Kupang stay with Edwin at the Lavalon Hostel for having a good time. Support the local hostels and don't book to the big soulless hotels around that destroy the local businesses.
I will come back to visit Edwin when I go to Timor again :)

We stayed at Lavalon Hostel for two nights and would absolutely recommend it. Edwin (the owner) is super nice and very knowledgeable about west Timor. And the food he cooks is delicious. He also helped us reserving a bus to East Timor and even made us breakfast at 4.30 am before we had to catch the bus. The corner room had a really nice view, was very clean and the bed was comfy. If you’re looking for an authentic place to stay at and want to support a local business instead of a big, soulless hotel chain (two of those just opened up in Kupang) then stay at Lavalon Hostel. You won’t regret it and we will definitely come here again after our excursion to East Timor.

We always try to stay here because of the location, owner and the current travel info supplied by Edwin. You can get a bright airy sea view room and nice breakfast. There is also a dorm. Another advantage over Kupangs other hotels is a chance to meet travellers, rent a motorbike or ask for assistance with travel info, visa extension or what ever else you need.

We had a wonderful stay at Lavalon! Edwin filled our days with incredible stories and delicious food. Hands down the best breakfast omelette in Indonesia. For dinner, the squid is (or should) also be world famous. He was full of helpful tips and recommendations to explore Kupang and Timor. The room had great views of the beach and the location was very convenient. Can’t recommend highly enough!

We stayed at Lavalon for two nights and loved the place. The corner room has tremendous views to the sea. The hot shower has been the best for the last 3 months in East and West Timor. The breakfast was delicious. And we really enjoyed the company of the other travellers this place attracted. Thank you very much for your hospitality and all the information you gave us, Edwin. If we come to Kupang again, we will definitely stay at Lavalon again.

Edwin is a sympathetic man who has many contacts. He ensures that you get the right and nice contacts for all kinds of excursions in Timor, Timor Leste, Alor, Rote and Sumba, among others. He knows a lot about that. He also knows good low-budget hotels in those places and knows how to arrange transport. You can rent a Sepeda motorbike from him.
Lavalon Seaview is beautifully located, within walking distance of the center and very close to the Pasar Malam Seafood.
The rooms with air conditioning/fan and shower/toilet are clean and well priced.
Edwin makes the tastiest pancakes for breakfast.
